I went to AG Chicago, a couple of weeks ago and they only had the Birthstone outfits in boxes out. No dolls wearing them. They had Claudie's new outfits, too. Don't remember them actually on Claudie. They also moved her bakery. I actually went specifically for the November Birthstone outfit. I had a $40.00 REWARDS coupon and only paid $12.00 for the $52.00 outfit. My birthday is actually in February, but I only liked the November outfit, out of the 12.
Now, $12 for that outfit is hard to beat! I'm glad they had the one you wanted :-)
Our Angelo's Bakery is the same as yours. We didn't have any other new displays for Claudie. Her bed was pretty much it
I was a little sad they took the old bakery display down because it was against such a cool backdrop the employee created, but I do recognize it's in a more prominent place now. Unfortunately, it's now under glass and that had been one of my daughter's favorite things to play with in the store.
I could take candy corn or leave it. I don’t typically buy it, but yes, I always grab for it at a party. Do I prefer chocolate? A thousand times yes. But it is good.

Everything in the AG store is so cute! The Claudie display is so nice with the old time car and the way her suitcase was set up! I just received Claudie yesterday, she is adorable! A few dolls online were 20% off and then I had rewards, so I got a great deal! I didn’t buy her winter coat yet, will soon. I did buy the white and blue dress. I think those birthstone clothes are cute, but too expensive! I really like the bat costume, so cute! I don’t buy candy corn, never cared for it, it’s too sweet, but I can eat a lot of chocolate lol.
Congratulations on getting Claudie!! You know I think she's one of the prettiest dolls AG has made. And chocolate over candy corn any day of the week - yes!
So fun to shop for free (gift cards, Rewards, etc)! I like the new candy corn costume and Halloween candy set. The popcorn ball looks like it is dressed up as Halloween candy with the extra candy stuck to it!
Yes, free is especially fun! And I do think the candy corn costume is cute - I just don't think it'll be enough of a priority for me to buy it.
@@agtakesover Yes. My recent purchase was Claudie’s new dress and her Christmas set with the Velveteen Rabbit book and bunny. My next priority is her travel set. Thanks for showing the displays created for Claudie!
Such a cool haul, and a major bonus that you didn’t pay anything for it! I love the bat costume, especially the tights and boots, which I feel could be used in other outfits. I kind of agree about the birthstone collection, I definitely don’t like any enough to spend that much on them.
There are individual pieces I like but no one outfit is winning me over.
I wasn’t sure about the Bat Costume but didn’t realize fishnets came with it!!! And those adorable boots!! I haven’t bought an AG Halloween costume for a while, but I think I need this! You keep making me want things I was unsure of 🤣
My husband loves candy corn; I almost always try one of his yearly to remind myself that yes I still don’t like it 😄

Love those Claudie displays. I was last there on the day her new stuff was released and I don’t think they were up then. I think candy corn is cute (it was my daughter’s 1st Halloween costume) but I’m not a fan of the granular texture. That bat costume is cute. I like all of the little details. I bet the uptight mamas are going to go crazy about those fishnet tights though. As you know I also collect fashion dolls and these mothers are always commenting in reviews etc. about how inappropriate and scandalous fishnets are. That was new to me.
In regards to the birthstone outfits, I was immediately appalled by the price but thought a few outfits might be kinda cute. I originally liked April but when I saw the better quality photos on the ag website, I realized the jacket looked like it was tinsel and cheap looking. The May outfit seemed kind of cool and retro but I’m not a fan of how sheer and unfinished looking the sleeves are. Plus, the gemstones along the neckline have been crooked in most of the photos I’ve seen. The only 2 I like a little bit now are October and November. I don’t think I could pay the asking price though. We will see if I change my mind at all when I see them in person.
You're right - Claudie's displays weren't up when her new stuff first dropped. If I remember correctly, you got to the store right after us that day lol. Re: the birthstone outfits, I think April's reminds me of a Halloween costume (Tin Man inspired? Elton John inspired?) and I think it's fun. I just don't like any of them near enough to justify that price. I believe they'll sell well enough and I'm happy for the ppl who like them, though.
Wow, I didn't know they sell real people food at the AG store. I know there is a cafe but I didn't know they sell chocolates and such.
Yep - usually some chocolate bars, truffles, a cookie, and some candy. They have a couple things that are wrapped in "Happy Birthday" kind of packaging to encourage shoppers to get them along with whatever they might be buying for someone's birthday.
I’m also a “take it or leave it” kind of person when it comes to candy corn! 😂

free shopping is the best! and i’m on your side with the candy corn question. i used to love it as a kid but now i don’t really have an opinion on it. i will say it is really fun looking though lol. do you recommend the bat outfit? i think it’s really cute but i’m still trying to decide if i should get it or not.
I really do like the bat outfit. Are there other AG halloween outfits you're more interested in? We have a lot of them and I'm happy to weigh in lol.
I like January and April but not the prices lol
If I were going to get any it would be April (Tin Man inspired...Elton John would approve...feels like it could make a good costume) but at that price it's a no.
I like candy corn as long as it doesn't have gelatin in it. The bat Halloween costume is adorable. An hour ago I decided not to buy any more doll stuff,but maybe. I love the fishnet hose. I had them as a teenager in the sixties. My Julie dolls would be so cute in them. I love Halloween it's so much fun! ❤ I got Claudie's suitcase and birthday prizes yesterday. I love them so much.😊

May I ask what prompted you to decide not to buy any more doll stuff? And is that "for a while" or "for good"? I think that's a decision people come to sometimes but don't always talk about, so I'm genuinely curious.
@agtakesover I just don't have room. for more. My house is small. My two daughters and two adult grandchildren live with me. My doll stuff is in every room. My My my, The more I get the more I want. It's American girl's fault for making so many cute things. What's an old woman to do? I'm addicted to cute little things. 😍 Have a wonderful day 💗

Lol. You totally sound like you're slowing down ;-) But I get the space constraints. We're in a bigger home than I've had in the past and I'm enjoying the fact that we can accommodate a large collection. Even in a bigger space, though, I try to be mindful and make sure things don't feel like they're spilling over into every room and *actually* taking over.

Did you see the set of chocolate bars they came out with the original six dolls' faces on the wrappers? Those might be available online, too. If so, I think they're the only candy you can order on their website, but don't hold me to that lol.
You guys did so great getting all of this for free. :) You make so many good points about that bat costume. It's super cute. I saw Grace's pics on IG of it on Gianna and it looks amazing. And I love Grace's idea of using the 2 different color witch costumes on Nicki and Isabel. Perfect! Thanks for sharing everything!!

I like Candy Corn. I bought a bag year before last, only ate a few pieces and eventually threw the rest away. So,I guess I can take it or leave it. I won't be buying anymore any time soon. If they were individually wrapped, then I could've gave the rest away, if I could find someone who liked it

Candy corn + apple slice=candy apple. I love any candy corn made with honey (like Brach's). Guess you could say I'm a candy corn aficionado.

@agtakesover I think there were 2 cat costumes. I keep seeing them on Mercari. But I need the bat. I recently spent a night locked in my bedroom while a bat flew around in my house. Cost me $1K to get him safely out and my house bat-proofed.
@@agtakesover There was a cat outfit last year or the year before. It was the one with the hoodie and also leopard print in it. There were a couple of outfits released at the same time and they all had some kind of animal print on them. It didn’t really look like a cat costume per se to me but the younger kids loved it and I think it sold really well prolly because of the animal print (not my thing). But It has been awhile since they had a really good cat costume imo.
Well I just bought me 1 pack of hangers. I’m so excited for them to. I also got 2 Janie outfits with it. But my next purchase I’ll need more hangers to. Like total necessity.
Yes! They're not "glam gifts" but it sure is nice to have the practical stuff we need for our collections (storage tubs, hanger, etc)!
There is also no Mango in the chili bears. LOL I got the orange outfit and really like it. I got the trick or treat bucket love it and plan to get the bat and candy corn outs for halloween. Thank you
I mean...they said "natural and artificial flavors" so *maybe* there's some mango in there lol. Really the flavor was fine. Way. Too. Waxy. The orange outfit and the silver outfit are the two I would consider if the price point were lower. The orange checked dress is cute. Your dolls are going to be decked out for Halloween! :-)
Yes I am trying to get enough costumes so I can do the outfits for the month of Nov like you did last year. My girls love Halloween and I think it will be fun for them and me also. @@agtakesover

Yeah those birthstone ones were definitely a choice for AG. I am not a fan in the slightest, but good on anyone who enjoys them!
That's my take - They nailed the aesthetic they're going for and I love that for fans. It just isn't *my* aesthetic (and my dolls have informed me it isn't theirs either).
I liked candy corn when I was really little, but I was definitely still in elementary school when candy corn started giving me a headache right after I ate it. Weirdly, though, I don't have a problem with the ones shaped like pumpkins that are basically the same kind of food.
That IS weird. Do they have different dyes at all?

I like candy corn but it is not something that I would buy if I had the option of other candy. I like all of the things that you got but I don't know if I would get them over some of the other stuff.

Love, love the zipper on the bat costume! Yes, as a person with fine motor struggles I can confirm that buttons are annoying. One of my most favorite releases recently has been the new school mix and match outfit, particularly the pink cardigan/purple tank top/purple skirt and or Denim jeans, topped off by the sneakers with I think blue laces? Maybe purple? I forget.
But that cardigan. I dressed Isabel in the pink cardigan with jeans and those sneakers, she will not be coming out of that for a very very very long time due to how long it took me to get the car to get on her. Similarly her pajamas are so cute but annoy me because the buttons on the top or even smaller . If I want to put her in her pajamas it takes me a good maybe 5-10 minutes to actually just get the pajama top on her. When I noticed why didn’t I return the pajamas in particular and just pick something else out?:
1. The pajamas to me scream 90s. They remind me of some thing I totally would’ve worn and probably did wear minus the buttons, down to the actual texture of the outfit itself.
2. As annoying as I find the buttons, I remind myself that it’s good strengthening practice for my dexterity/by motor skills. My “doll physical therapy” if you will 😃
And yes, I do like candy corn but I won’t sit there and eat a huge bag of it. I have may be a few pieces and that’s it. I like that little Halloween accessory set with the bucket and food, and you would think me being such a huge fanatic of miniature Dolly food that I’d be all over it, but I actually couldn’t justify the price when I saw it. I do want the gemstone outfits, but I just want the June and October ones. June for Kavi and October for Isabel. I wasn’t a fan of any of the outfits that actually went with any of my dolls birth months lol. So like Isabel wouldn’t wear May’s outfit for example.
However $52 is way, way too much for that. For me, sometimes even 40 for an outfit is a stretch. The only way I actually have Kavi’s performance outfit is because I bought it with rewards I got from birthday presents since my boyfriend used my account, and birthday money with my mom. Otherwise Kavi probably wouldn’t even have that right now. So I’d only get the gemstone either with rewards or a friend of mine (who says she’s Isabel’s doll Godmom 🩷) said she might get Isabel the October outfit one day.
But those are the only two ways that either of those outfits would end up in my collection. I also feel the same way about the Harry Potter Hogwarts uniforms. Love them, love Harry Potter personally, but I wouldn’t pay 50…

Back again to add yeah, nope. No one would wear shorts in October or at the end of October… In the Midwest and particularly Ohio. I think I’ve mentioned previously I lived in Toledo and Cleveland for three years before returning back to the West Coast. I actually miss it a lot, particularly Toledo and sometimes I think I’d move back in a heartbeat if I could. But that’s neither here nor there, I just had to really throw it in because you’ve mentioned the ridiculousness of the shorts and the bat outfit :-)

Before he died, my father hand Parkinson's. I think that made me even more aware of what an obstacle certain fasteners can be for folks with certain disabilities or motor challenges. I'd love to see AG explore magnetic snaps in their clothing!

The one I showed at the beginning (the pack of truffles) is for humans. The two little packets I showed at the end (with the trick or treat set) are just for dolls.

Okay, the birthstone outfits.... There were a few I thought could be cute/versatile for the individual pieces, but $52?! I'm sorry, WHAT?! Nope. Hard pass.
On the subject of candy corn... I am a 'only during the season' type person 😂 I typically think they're okay, and will eat it if available, but only during Halloween. Otherwise, bleck.
