The homeowners and businesses I see along our travels look like they really keep their properties in good shape. Nice lawns, no garbage lying around. Looks beautiful. Also nice to see people getting out of your way, too.
I’m from Indiana. I drove across Pennsylvania and through Lancaster County down the eastern side of Maryland. It was one of the most beautiful trips I’ve ever taken. Just as you say, all the homes are well kept and most have an American flag flying.

It's with sad news that I want to report the death of a 19 year veteran firefighter with The Los Angeles County Fire Department and a second injured firefighter assigned to the Palmdale station, a neighboring city of Lancaster, California, while fighting a vehicle fire located in the nearby community of Little Rock, at a cement quarry. The dead firefighter, a father and husband leaves behind a wife and children. May God bless his soul. The second firefighters injuries were minor and was released from a local hospital.
