It's almost midnight, driving to the office to get some last minute paperwork done before my afternoon flight tomorrow to London UK to catch Johnny Hates Jazz in concert at a jazz bar. I rarely listen to the radio but get this little ditty finishing on the aboriginal station. I decide to look up the tune to listen to while working, and stumble onto this little gem of a family, that performs a laundry list of covers, and all in the family. Definitely deserving an A for effort, and I know this track-----it's pretty darned close!! i had to look you guys up----i've been as close as Sudbury in 1998 for a wedding. That's a lot of talent for just one town, never mind one small household. Super thumbs up!
Well that has to be the best cover I’ve ever heard, and I’ve heard a lot. And very cool family for very cool under rated 80s tune. Great use of the sax, superb sound and haunting mixing. Thanks!
I’m in the US. Idle Eyes didn’t make much of splash here - in fact, I only learned of this song a few years ago. What a great tune. For no particular reason, I was looking for a live version of Idle Eyes doing this song today and your video came up. I’m a musician of almost 40 years with a $25k studio in my basement. It is no small compliment that I say that I’m amazed by your cover. The ultimate compliment? I forgot that I was listening to a cover. Well done, indeed!
@@Thomasmemoryscentral I'm from Vancouver BC, Idle Eyes' home region. They had several hits on the air, and had more than one album. Tokyo Rose still gets airplay to this day, but other tracks (try Blue Train) deserved recognition and did climb the charts up here in canada, and got their video played on MuchMusic up here during that era. Most Canadian acts never broke it south of the border, which is a shame. There was a lot of talent from Canada in that era, and relatively very few acts broke thru the border and "made it" south of the border in the larger USA market. Idle Eyes is but one of countless acts, so definitely not a one-hit wonder. Just a matter of different markets, and a lack of marketing support due to the tiny size of the Canadian market. No different than how very few Aussie acts made it in the USA. the few that did, such as Men at Work and INXS were few and far between. Even class aussie acts such as John Farnham didn't manage to break into the US market.
Listening to this, I bet you could really do a great cover of "Silent Running", by Mike and the Mechanics. Your whole family is just so damned talented!

So they qualify as a one hit wonder?
@@Thomasmemoryscentral I’d say yes, Idle Eyes would fall in that category.
