Did you just eyeball the brackets before drilling? I’m nervous that mine won’t be even & wooden window is 125 years old…eek!

Yes because most building windows have frames so the longer the screws the better chance you will hit a stud lol. There has to be framing of a window even if your place is 125 years old.
