Fun fact: Drive any other cars in competition like Rav4, CR-V, Tucson, Sportage, Rogue and so on. Then sit behind CX-5. Not even Turbo, just N/A engine. None of these competitors come even close to the driving dynamics of Mazda products. Period. Those 6 “reasons” are not enough to convince people who appreciate engineering not to buy this great product. It’s hidden gem.

You are so on the money my man! I've owned Mazda cars for 7+ years now. From the CX-3, CX-5 and now the MX-30 and they've all been reliable (petrol engine) but the quality is just outstanding. Tried a Q3 and the basic model was about £10k more than the top model CX-5, with manual seats. Mazda wins it for me on every front.

As a 2021 cx5 owner (for 2 years now), it's most definitely not quiet lol. And at fast speeds turns feel like it's going to flip the car over, so yeah handling is not the best either. @@theotheleo6830Downside to CX-5: Easy to work on. Too reliable. Cheaper than toyota. And toyota teamed up with Mazda to create the “Skyactiv” technology for Mazda’s transmission. Bought a 2020 cx5 with 15k miles for $26k. Find a toyota suv for that price lol. Maintenance is key, this car can reach 300k if you drive like a grandpa, do 4k mile oil change, 45k mile drain and fill trans fluid. And they sold a fvck ton and don’t change them much year-to-year so you can find parts for relatively cheap. I wouldn’t buy one with a turbo personally.

@@dantehajiani2806 Thanks for the info. However, I just bought a RAV4 a couple of days ago. My concern about the CX5 was that the engine is direct injection only, whereas the RAV4 has both port and direct injection. I don't drive far, just short trips, so I was concerned about the carbon buildup on the intake valves of the CX5 since maintenance and reliability are my utmost concerns.

I just bought my third CX-5 in a row. So you know I like them. Comfortable seats, very quiet inside, love the steering and handling (fun to drive) and the looks, inside and out. Mazda's base engine + 6 speed transmission work fine for me, with that Mazda Zoom Zoom. NO CVT TRANSMISSION, Thank God. No cylinder deactivation or I-Stop on mine. I just did a road trip and got 31 MPG driving 75 MPH using Mazda's adaptive cruise control. Yes, I've heard the negatives: no touch screen infotainment (I don't care), less cargo space than CR-V (I don't care, I'm single), gas mileage not as good as Subaru ( I'm fine with the mpg's I get).

I love this comment. It speaks to how buyers buy cars based on the good things Brake Bias said - exceptional design and reliability in all areas - that are so true that they render the small measurement data comparisons to other cars like cargo space and mpg practically almost irrelevant especially because the Mazda "feels" like such a superior product. I bought one December 2023. I agree to some of the not-so-great features identified in the video like I am very annoyed by some of the automation that I didn't understand when I bought the car, but I would still buy it over the Honda, Toyota, Ford, Subaru, Chevy, Nissan competitors. They look and feel like a grade below the Mazda CX-5.

I thought I was going to get 6 real reasons it was deal breaker. Instead, I get complaints about engine power, fuel efficiency, lack of towing, lack of touch screen preference everywhere, lack of space, and prices. I thought it was more serious things like reliability issues - none of those mentioned. We went ahead and bought a 2023 CX-5 slightly used for a $10,000 discount under MSRP (3000 miles on the odometer) and the wife loves it. We even get better gas mileage than stated here, averaging about 25 mpg in mixed driving. The engine can go 0-60 mph in 8.5 seconds which means it has the power necessary to merge in all traffic situations (the turbo is 6.5 seconds which no one needs unless they plan to race it).

People run from CVT's. That's why Honda's aren't selling as many cars as they used to. For example, sales for the Honda Accord are dismal. It's because Honda keeps sticking CVT's in their Accords. Plus, they got rid of the 2.0T and V6's with their bulletproof automatic transmissions and engines.

My 2024 2.5 S Select non turbo gets 33-34 mpg on the highway and 27-29 city legit. His criticism doesn’t wash in real world driving.
I don’t see a lot of Rav 4’s, Sportages or CRV’s towing anything around. In fact, I never have. Who cares?
The cabin is quiet. Drive a CX 5 and then a Rav 4….’nuff said.
I don’t care about hauling cargo or people around. It has enough space to do the basics. It’s a freakin compact SUV. Fact is, the difference between it and the others is minimal. If you want space, buy a bigger SUV.
The interior is hands down stylishly luxurious compared to the competition, some of which are out and out clunky.
Lastly, drive the others and save the CX 5 for last. No comparison in the “fun factor”.

The turbo has absolutely zero lag, and it has plenty of power with regular gas. You can use high octane gas, but plenty of power with regular gas. Its true it has a bit less storage area, but in the past four years, I have never not had enough space. Millage per gallon is less than the competition, but the power and fun of driving this car is more than the competition. As soon as you get on the on ramp, you are effortlessly and easily propelled to speed. My friend has the Honda CRV. It's fine, but simply boring.

Tried a Kia Sportage, because it is plug-in hybrid, AND has more luggage space. The last at least on paper.
Well, in reality, the CX-5 had almost 100 litres more usable space, and it had no problems fitting the dog cage. The Sportage just couldn't. Also, our new Skoda Enyaq is supposed to swallow more luggage. It just doesn't.
RAV 4 can't fold the mid rear seat, and has no middle hatch, so it't was no option for us with two child seats and occasional long load (skiis, paddles etc.).

This video is silly. The CX5 should be on anyone’s list that wants a very reliable and fun to drive compact SUV. It’s simply the best in the class. And still built/assembled in Japan. Next.

I have a 2021 CX-5 Signature and it is a great car. Really love the heated steering wheel, active driver display, radar stop and go. auto hold. I had a 2006 and 2015 Mazda3. Have never had a problem with any of the Mazdas, they are well made dependable comfortable cars. If you are looking for an SUV take some test drives and decide for yourself.

You should be happy, if you do not have touch screen. They have tendency to break and then people have to take monitor apart to cut touch screen cable. I don't have touch screen and completely happy without it. That is just a matter of what you are used to. Towing 2000 lb is perfect. I used to tow my small utility trailer with Acura TL that was rated 1000lb. CX 5 is much better for that job. In other countries people do not drive pickup trucks around, they have utility trailers. Mazda doesn't have a luxury line like Acura or Lexus for other brands. No wonder that top trim Signature is more expensive, that is like buying Lexus instead of Toyota. Signature is really luxurious and feels like Audi Q5 or BMW SUV. Napa leather seats are much nicer that Lexus or BMW seats. Mazda's electronic driver assistance works better than other brands. High/Low beam automatic switch does great job, adaptive cruise control is also great on highways.
Mazda though could have done better paint job. Clear coat is soft and easily gets damaged.

We’ve owned cx-5 select for 2 years, it’s a really fantastic car for the money. It does have less back seat and cargo space, but some of the reasons not to buy it mentioned in this video are bogus. For one, the ‘weak’ 2.5 NA engine is plenty powerful, especially for driving around town. It has ample passing ability on the highway as well 🤷‍♂️. I get 30mpg with roughly 2/3 highway driving. It handles great, especially when compared to its rivals. Some legit downsides are the 6-speed transmission is quirky and the audio sucks. We paid 30k otd for it brand new, so I’m very happy with the purchase.

no turbo "lag" on these turbos unlike in my 2009 cx-7 turbo. I also have the 2.5 NA in my wife's cx-5 and the "lag" when passing or punching it to get on the freeway are virtually the same as my 2.5 turbo.

CX-5 Akera (top spec in Australia) Turbo owner here - bought it SPECIFICALLY for engine and gearbox combo as I like a car with a bit of power and real automatic - no CVT or DSG. $56,000 AUD, roughly $35,000 USD. Classy, premium look and feel inside (and outside): Napa leather, heated and cooled front seats (heated outboard rears), Bose stereo, HUD... No massive screens or hard plastics... Use only 98 octane fuel (premium/highest octane in Australia). NO OTHER car at similar size/money comes close to it. Period.

I’m not sure if this is some AI generated video thing someone posted after taking a ‘make money online’ course, it smells that way based on the text vid description but I’ll play.
I was a bit worried about mpg in my almost new 14k mile 2022 CX-5, as I was going from a teeny Hyundai Elantra at 37-45 mpg highway, but, I’m very, very satisfied with the CX-5 performance vs mpg. I opted for the less complex non turbo 4 cylinder.
People cautioned me about its ‘sluggish’ performance in traffic to which I responded, YOU compare it to your full sized v-8 truck and gigantic v6 or v8 SUV while I’m going from a 4 cylinder CVT transmission Jeep Compass, 4 cylinder gas miser Elantra which the CX-5 is replacing and weekend Lowe’s runner 20 year old 4cylinder s-10, ( which I would have ALWAYS bought my entire life if they would have just kept making them, take a hint ANY automaker) so it is a powerhouse compared to all my other vehicles, lol. I have no complaints about driving it in traffic.
I’m getting no less than 27mpg highway, easily avg 30mpg, and have hit as high as 32 mpg when all the planets are lined up using premium gas, when I didn’t need A/C, driving very conservatively with cruise, no strong headwinds etc. I consider that excellent mileage for the size/comfort/ weight of the vehicle.
I was a buy American fanatic, and only six or seven years ago would have never ever considered a Mazda, or even an American built Toyota. I was a true disciple to the ‘just and good cause’,,,, until,,, the covid plandemic lockdowns and its legitimizing piracy on the consumer. After seeing how those vile wretched car dealers added a 5, 10, even $20,000 markup to an already inflated MSRP, then the brazen autoworkers union greed added even more for vehicles that, although pretty and shiny, full of cool blinky gadgets, were 100% garbage , comparable to the early 80’s rust bucket, hanger queen, pre-Lee Iacocca era of American made junk, I decided to hades with those backstabbing ‘American’ car companies. They are owned by foreign corporations, use mostly components from all over the world, even have models completely made in communist China, for a Buick small SUV that still manages to cost the same amount of money as if it was made in Detroit or even non union Alabama and worst of all by manufacturers that have been literally SAVED FROM EXTINCTION by the American taxpayer. Their repayment? To ‘grape’ those same taxpayers.
That’s when I started researching vehicles and after driving my sisters CX-9 chose a 100% Japanese made Mazda. Now I’m 100% Mazda guy for my personal daily driver.
Thanks you American car companies to introducing me to Mazda by being incompetent, greedy, thankless, and arrogant.

I don’t really care that much about fuel efficiency, towing, infotainment system being a little dated or a little less space in the cargo room. I do however care about reliability, handling and enjoyment in driving. The 2025 Honda CRV has a 1.6 Liter turbo is very overworked and has had issues, the Rav 4 is as fun as a washing machine. The CX5 Turbo is like having a sports car in a suv body.

It gets the same gas mileage as last generations RAV4 and honestly it is an older car platform however you don't buy this vehicle because it's the most spacious or the best on gas you buy it because it drives like a car and not just any car but a really good car it's actually fun to drive The Toyota and the kias have literally zero driving character second the interior is a class above at least to and it's Lexus quiet, so if you can give up a little gas mileage and you don't have to have the biggest vehicle, also it has classically good looks in the same time frame Toyotas been through two generation RAV4s the same thing with Kia One of the key is I thought looked really good I think it's the Sportage but now it just looks average and tacky they managed to make this car look good without any sort of body kits or add-ons or cladding just pure body lines. this is not a sports car or a high-end luxury SUV, it's just a really nice affordable SUV with fun handling remember these things start at $28,000 and you can get one well equipped with mini extras in the 32,000 range it's a lot of car for the money it's why I will be interested to see us replacement It may or may not be as nice Go look at a Subaru that's $28,000 let me know how loud it is and what the interior quality looks like it's a fine car for the money actually it's a really nice car for the money

I just bought a 100th anniversary cx-5. My 2nd car is a 2010 diesel x5 that i bought six years ago which is on it's last legs. The mazda is fun to drive and goes like hell. Great highway passing. The interior being rather spartan compared to the x5 is none the less as good or better in finish and quality. The body and exteior are excellent top of the line construction. The leather seats are really comfortable. I hate the no touch screen system. It is slow and unresponsive. Design wise this car is the epitomy of "less is more". Beautiful exterior. Nothing close to it. My daughter has a 2024 Q5. twice the cost of the cx but I wouldn't trade. I understand why mazda commentators are irate. They don't have to be. Nothing wrong with your presentation. It's honest. But in my opinion this car aces any of the short commings listed. Thanks

I own a CX-5 Sport and its totally adequate as a compact Family SUV. You don't need all the power in this class and the Skyactiv technology make it fuel efficient. Its roomy inside and has loads of space in the boot. Remember it's a compact SUV. In Europe its cheaper than its nearest rivals the Toyota RAV-4, Honda CR-V, Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson. It also has the highest safety rating among its competitors as well as compared to some larger SUV's. Along with the Toyota RAV-4 It's the most reliable in its class and will outlast most of its competitors.
