This is brilliant! Why? I’ve got a RC30 that I’ve only just put back together after more than a decade of not running. Hearing them again in their proper enviroment is music to my ears and brings back so many memories of that era.
Best AMA Superbike years were 1977' to 2006' Best WSB was from 1988' to about 2008' Lots of Big names we all knew and no electro-gizzos on the Bike to help the riders !!! Just skill and Big Balls !!! 😆 🏍 👍
Great video, I've been looking for live commentary of the 1988 Manfeild round for ages! Some very rare footage of the 1989 round at the end too, that was the year that the championship had no promoter so there was no official TV coverage.
That pre-race 2 crash was extremely costly for Davide Tardozzi. Before NZ the top 3 in the standings were: David Tardozzi (86) Fred Merkel / Fabrizio Pirovano (83.5) And after NZ?? Merkel (99) Pirovano (93.5) Tardozzi (91.5) Tardozzi would never win another World Superbike race again and he would only finish on another 3 podiums
@5:18 Pirovano said he wished that Tardozzi and Merkel would fight each other so he could win, then Tardozzi twisted his words in the translation, saying that Pirovano had wished they crash together ...
How awesome to rewatch this - I was there that weekend

Is this Davide Tardozzi guy the same Davide Tardozzi that manages Ducati alongside Gigi Dall'igna in MotoGP right now?
Yep.

Robert Dunlop 💪🏁☘️
I'm surprised that there are not many GSXR's.
WSB was very new and Suzuki didn’t see the need to fully support it yet. They were still fighting to win in AMA supers with Schwantz.
@@rapid13 plus almost ever national series had Suzuki cup classes...
Great track & I think they went onto Oran Park after this round where Doohan lapped Merkel & the field.
gpx750r racing.... :)
Thanks.
Big mi stake for duca ti not to send riders to last 4 races
