I'm currently in a dispute with Kia. The audacity they have, to tell me the problem is due to lack of maintenance, is disgusting.

I work for yellow freight, I pick up at three different Kia dealerships every week. It’s all transmissions I pickup, to be sent out for rebuild.

Of course you’re going to see all the ones that break, who goes to a mechanic with a perfectly good running car?

WRONG about the KIA. Worked in the Toyota/Lexus Facility for 17 Years. Bought a KIA 5 years ago, and it is equal to Lexus in every way. Quality is incredible and it runs as good as it did when we first bought it. Don't know how you can make such a generalized statement. I have also owned 35 vehicles of variable brands and it has outshone everyone of them.

No more heated seats, No more computers, No more automatic windows, No more seat belts, No more cruise control, No more self driving cars, and No more Electric Cars. Bring back the 1993 Geo Metro and make it blue. I want 50 mpg and put the lead back into the gas. Sheesh.

As I told another Kia downer, I have purchased two Kia Sorentos, a 2017 and a 2020, both new. Both have been excellent vehicles, probably the best in its class that I have ever owned. Not one problem with either! Not one in almost 7 years! Too much smoke on the internet!

I have 3 Kias. 83k, 62k and new one W/3k. Zero problems. Left the big 3 because older two would already be out of warranty on Ford, Chevy or Dodge but have free 100k from Kia on power train and had constant electrical issues with Chevys, constant Transmission issues with Ford and Dodge is not for for Human beings. The thought that went into the interior quality, ergonomics and driver friendliness on Kias are so much better.

Thanks Scotty! My spousal unit ‘22 Sorento just had this “transmission reprogramming” done, so hopefully it won’t take a crap. I told her I didn’t trust Kia and they still have a long way to go, but that’s what she wanted. My ‘13 Lexus GX 460 is still going strong at 100K and almost paid off. Sucks on gas though.

Since 2003, my wife and I have owned either a Kia or Hyundai, and with the exception of the 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, we have had no significant issues with any of them. They have been dependable and inexpensive to operate, but we have not put more than 97K miles on any of them and have taken very good care of them from a maintenance standpoint. The vehicles we have owned are: (2) Hyundai Santa Fe's; 2007 Sonata; 2011 Sonata; 2012 Sonata Hybrid; 2016 Sonata (leased); 2018 Sonata; 2016 Kia Sorento SX; 2023 Sportage SX (purchased in February, 2023 and a 2023 Sorento SX (purchased last week and immediately took it on a 2000 mile vacation trip). The problem with most foreign manufacturers (and American) is that their reputations are established early on, and if the ownership experience is bad in the beginning, it takes a while to repair the damage done. I'm 74 and I remember the introduction of the Toyotas and Hondas to the US. They were absolute pieces of junk and stayed junky for a few years, but then the Japanese got serious about building a quality and reliable vehicle. It took them a few years, but the image of Toyota and Honda changed, and most people recognized that both manufacturers built a darn good product. Kia and Hyundai are on the same trajectory, and it began way back in 2004 (Hyundai) and 2008 (Kia) when the 100,000 mile/10 year power train warranty came into existence. Automobiles, regardless of the manufacturer, are mechanical with lots of moving parts, and I am a firm believer in the idea that if you take good care of them, they will, by and large, take care of you. If you change the oil and oil filter and service the transmission by manufacturer recommendations, there is a high likelihood, your car will easily get 100,000 miles or better, but the key for longevity is maintenance, pure and simple.

I have owned 2 kias, and both were having issues before 60 000 KM. luckily given the wild used car market the last few years I was able to unload them to dealers for close to what I had paid for them. Bought my wife and I each Toyotas instead.

Had a 2017 Kia Optima Hybrid up to 150,000 miles using it for Uber and Lyft. Had NO problems until about 140K minor oil drips, etc. Always use Mobile 1, did maintenance myself and did regular gas treatments. Oh, a major fuse went out, cost 200. That's it. I sold it for $7,000 at the $150.00 mile mark. Have a 2017 Kia Optima PHEV at 50k miles. Hoping to be similarly blessed.

With so many manufacturers having problems with their cars as of late I find it difficult to find a quality vehicle that wont eventually have to be recalled for one thing or another.
