Can we talk about how the Empress Dowager is such a good mother, at first she seems like a villain to Ru Yi. But as Ru Yi won her trust she now sides and helps her a lot especially at the end.
Ruyi is such a kind soul, she never looked down on others, she respected them all as humans, sisters, fellow soul trapped in the palace. She never saw Han with hatred or as competition even if she knew the emperor would throw her [Ruyi] aside like a discarded toy if Ruyi wast the empress at that time. She saw Han as a kindred should and as such she respected her and her decisions. Ruyi was at the other side of the mirror, she had been wronged by those who did not want her to bear a child and see their power and influence diminish, Ruyi saw Han was on the same boat by possibly been forced to have a child she did not want. Also, she knew Han just wanted to live in peace now that she was trapped inside and having no ability to get pregnant would keep her out of the sight of the other vicious concubines.
I began watching this series about a month ago - by accident really. After I watched the first story, I was so impressed I never stopped! I still watch one or two stories a day and am amazed at how intricately connected all these people were - the Emperor, his Mother, the Empress, the eunuchs, the Harem - it makes a fascinating story with many twists and turns. I especially love the duality that was necessary for everyone in the Palace to practice. It is all so very interesting to me!
This emperor is so aggravating. Empress Fuca maliciously gave Ruyi and Gao bracelets with contraceptive pills and the emperor never punished her. But Ruyi he slaps? Claims to love Ruyi but he treated her worst of all while he pampered all his evil concubines. 😡
This is a great series but sadly too much for me. The constant chaos and trials endured by the main character made it unwatchable for me but still its a good series.
I want an alternative series but where he’s good to her and Ling gets her karma early. I had to skip through a lot too bc it was unbearable. I love Ruyi so much

That was a good ending point because I just wanted to see Ruyi become the empress and the main wife. Everything after that was chaotic, unnecessary, and just way to drawn out for no reason. it's a repeat every time something bad happens
This palace life is not for people like Ruyi. Her kind soul is locked here. She is not weak, but tryings to follow all this rules, unfair treatment and constant living among intrigues dont give her opportunity to be herself.
I don’t understand why Ruyi as Empress couldn’t just arrange for the potion to be delivered through someone else, and not take the fall for it with the Emperor. Hailan could’ve thought of a way to do it. In Legend of Zhen Huan, the Emperor wanted Hua Fei to miscarry, so Ruyi’s aunt had the potion delivered through Duan
The emperor's concubine is to give birth to offspring. If a woman in ancient times did not have children of her own, she would have no support. Having children is very important. The status of a woman in the palace, in addition to her own origin, is also the child's gender (boy) and achievements Sometimes there are adopted children in the palace. I adore this show. My only issue is that there's not much insight into why the emperor goes down the path of selfishness and stupidity. I can take guesses - maybe he was insecure or paranoid? Wished they had fleshed him out a bit more.
His character development was pretty fleshed out throughout the show. When he first became the emperor, he was young and naïve, didn't have much solid power because the empress dowager still had major influence in the courts. As the show progresses, he started taking actual control and the dowager started losing influence and the emperor became more bold and experienced. Before he got to that point, he lost a lot of children already from poisoning and miscarriages. He has seen what these women in his harem is capable of which made him more and more paranoid of everyone around him. But his biggest flaw is not valuing people when they are alive, like how he keeps bringing up how good the Fucha empress was, but never really showed much love for her before her death, and you can see him do the same after Ruyi died. A lot of his mistakes is basically him thinking that he is never wrong, it's never his fault and he blames everyone else for whatever happened, but never looked to himself as being responsible.
The real emperor's personality was not likable, too. I can imagine him much or less like that. The real Qinglong once took all his concubines to an artist and asked him who is most beautiful and who HE is like the most. They were really a collection for him and baby-making machine. The reason I like Ruyi Royal Love more than Yanxi palace. They tried to him a Hero which he clearly wasn't. Legend of Zanhuan was good too.
Great that ryui finally realised that bastard isn't her old younger lover! She distant herself from him, She goodly ended things with him and gave fuck about him
I love the second slap scene on the boat!! She basically said...."F**K YO COUCH N***A, THEY SHOULDA GAVE U N***AS MONEY!! I'M OUT"!!! Big ups to Rong Fei, she didn't want that n***a seed in her!!!
The lusty emperor did not investigate and asked the empress just slapped her without remorse and did not even apologized after he knows the truth.I hate his character. I hope he will suffer one day. He did not even bother to visit concubine Ling that is in labor .Now he punished the empress again for his scheming. I think Ruyi just quit, this too much to take. As this story goes deeper into the plot, I resent and loathe him more and more because of the despicable way he treats his empress. She is his doormat.
The doctor would simmer the herbs and other ingredients that can make someone in pain or infertile like in the drama. The important thing is the ingredients in that soup. Even in this day, still we can use this way to cure some disease.
