What you think of as the sadder side is only guilty of being very, very vintage. From the 40s and I’d even say that Nars would have loved to use you as a model for his collab Guy Bourdin images. Now. What you’ve done on the other side is so modern and ethereal. The skin has so much light from within. They’re both lovely in such different ways, and also from different historical periods. This was very fun to watch! 💫
omg those Nars campaigns are just stunning, so thank you! It's true you could look at both sides as one is 2023 and other more vintage maybe. Makeup trends through the years is beautiful to learn. Happy you enjoyed it!
What I've learned is that every face is different, and we all need to do what works for our own face. I spent many years working in a field where I didn't want makeup on (sweaty job) and now that Im old and in a different line of work I had to re-learn how to put makeup on again so I began watching tutorials. Every single makeup artist is just dead wrong. You can't do what works for THEIR face. Spend some time and look at your makeup, does it make you look better, good if not try it a different way. I am an artist so it helps that I understand visual trickery so if you can find some friends and ask them what they think. Or find a makeup artist on here that has similar features as you and see what works on that area. I have very hooded eyes, I have to do my eyeshadow very different than her.
I agree, some of these techniques wouldn't work for me. Not a fan of the lined lips though but let's face, she's gorgeous and anything and nothing would look wonderful on her!
It's very true, it's why I have taught in person one on one makeup lessons with clients for years, because "youtube" tutorials are not tailored to the individual face but because it's pre filmed and online that's the way it is. Best to find a creator with a similar face to you and the tailor the tips.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I've been struggling with my makeup and feeling like I was in a rut for the past few years. I've watched various tutorials, but none of them showed me exactly where to put my makeup. Your video popped up in my feed and I tried all your tips today - they are transformational! Normally, on the way out the door I have been glancing in the mirror and seeing that my makeup looks heavy and messy, so I'll end up quickly wiping much of it off. This morning, I glanced in the mirror...and everything looked perfect. I've subscribed; you're wonderful! 💜
Wow i'm honestly so happy and shocked in myself that my video can help so much, this video response has given me so much motivation to create more! I agree a lot of TH-cam is about different products, which is important but placement is just as important right! Can't be putting great products and not so flattering area's ha! Thank you!!!! x
I prefer the “good” side blush, bronzer, and lips and the “bad” side eye and eyebrow. The bad eyebrow is a bit too angular in the center, but otherwise I prefer more defined brow. And I like a rounder doe eyed look than the current cat eye trend. As others have said, you look gorgeous either way, and these things are personal preference :) The video was very calm and enjoyable to watch. I like your tone of voice.
Agreed - I think the darker eyebrow is especially flattering/more face-framing in general. I think this is especially true on her face - as she said, she has very light features, and the stronger brow creates a focal point that I feel is missing from the other side.
A very useful video. I especially appreciated the reminders on the Cupid’s bow, blush placement, and eyebrow enhancement. I’m in my 70s, am a former model, and am hoping you can help me understand why everywhere I look I see women with faces darker than the rest of their bodies. I just don’t see the point of bronzer, especially when we do everything we can to avoid sun damage. I’m already unhappy with having darker skin than I was born with due to excessive sun damage during the 1950s and 1960s (especially my facial skin). Women also usually apply foundation in a colour darker and often yellower than their own skin. I would like to understand why these practices seem to be the norm. They are not desirable to me and I’ve been avoiding them. 😊
Happy you found value in my video! Yep it's not a great look for foundation to be darker then the body, it really depends on where you live, to the frequency of seeing this look. I live in Hong Kong, so Asia and girls are the opposite, sometimes hard to find bronzers from some brands they just to cary it here.
I’m so glad you addressed the cupid’s bow. It’s one of my pet peeves! Sadly, the natural bow flattens out with years. It frustrates me to see young women not taking full advantage of what they naturally have as long as they have it!
Yes, it's really quite shocking when you realize that, as a mature woman, like 50+, you have no more cupid's bow. Your lips disintegrate into one mushy top. Sorry younger ladies- but we are all young at one point and then when we age- it's hard to accept all the changes that age will do to you. But, we learn to live with it and always remember Isabella Rossilini!
I see it. I understand it. But doing it. My heavy hand gets going. And before I know it I have a mess! Every once in awhile I get it right! This was a great tutorial.
Hmmm both look good to me. In my opinion blush a little lower looks more natural. When I’m flushed from working out or being out in cold I don’t blush up high I blush in my cheeks. But honestly they both look good on hou
Thank you so much for the eyeshadow tutorial, it works wonders on me :D I have very hooded eyes, I've never been happy with my makeup, but I didn't know why. When I did my make-up exactly according to your instructions, I even got a compliment! You explained it so well. And now I know that in my case less is more. Thank you :)
The heavier brow is definitely something young woman like. For someone as fair as she is the softer look is definitely a fresh young look. The softer look is great advice for those of us who are older, as less is more as you get older.
You are an amazing teacher. I thought I knew it all. Will definitely be utilizing your tips when I apply my makeup tomorrow morning. P.S. I love your eye shape and think that your more rounded eye makeup looks dreamy. It's just a different look and as you said, the elongated lifted eye look is on trend right now.
wow happy you found it so useful and that the tips have been helping with your morning makeup application! aw thank you dreamy is a good way to look at it, I appreciate that!
I clicked on this video when it came up on my feed because you are fair like I am and I have trouble with makeup looking heavy on me rather than fresh faced as it did on you. I tried your tips before going out today and thought it made me look younger and more bright eyed. I only got about halfway down the block before some fellow asked me for my number, so I am going to say this as an excellent tutorial!
Yea there is no rules, someone else said the 'bad' side looks more vintage even, not that I consider the 90s vintage yet, as I was born very early 90s😅
Except for the overdone eyebrow, I much prefer the bad side. I'm sick to death of giant glossy lips, though I understand I'm in the minority on that one.
Thank you for all the lifting tips. I've tried them, they work and they are priceless for an older person like me who is dead against anything invasive. Brilliant.
Gurl! You're too beautiful to notice the difference between good vs. bad makeup application. That being said, I love all the tips and tricks which I will definitely be adding to my routine! Thank you!
Very right about the blush so low on the face, but also important to take a little lighter powder and buff out the rouge by the hairline because it's always darker & sticks to the facial hair there. Great video.
I think the darker color on your eyebrow, not the downward shape, emphasizes your root color and eye color. Also, I think lip gloss is fine but I've heard from many people that it looks sticky and unnatural. I think a soft cream lipstick in a neutral color is prettier.
The lip thing. Thank you for articulating it so well. I discovered it too but I didnt know how to explain it. As a small lipped lady I know important it is!
On the bad side, I see your makeup. On the good side, I see your beauty. A lot of people forget that makeup is best used to enhance your natural beauty. IMHO, people shouldn’t wonder “what makeup is she wearing?”, they should wonder “how is she so beautiful?”
You made it soo clear and easy to follow your instructions. Very informative and soo appreciated. Will definitely be making the needed changes. Thank you. ❤
Your video is on my homepage today, I think the TH-cam algorithm gods😊 I really only started putting on make up in the past three years and love when I find these kind of helpful tutorial videos. New subscriber!
I really liked the idea of using the brush you used to powder the t-zone area of the face. I do this, and it works wonderfully. The eyebrow tip on not over doing it is definitely correct. All of your tips in this video were right on target, and I use all of them on a daily basis. Thanks for a great video. I am a new subscriber, and very happy to be here.
I actually learned a lot. I’m light in color as she is so it was even more workable for me. I have a wedding to attend soon and this will be my new look for the event. Excited.
Thank you for the info on brows. My problem, tho, is not having tails (basically half an eyebrow) makes just stroking the tails very difficult. Will continue to attempt your suggestion.
I really like how you managed to show the techniques with such minimal makeup. I'm quite bad at eye shadow, and yeah I have been doing it that "wrong way" rounding my eyes even more. I already have big, round eyes. I just always struggle to figure out why I can't make it work on my face. I'll keep this in mind next time. :)
Regardless of a person's preference, this video should be required! Beautifully done! Now if we could just get people to stop wearing those HUGE fake eyelashes.....ugh. I know, it's preference.
It's awesome seeing someone else as fair as myself explain blush/bronzer! I generally just avoid it at all costs because I'm afraid of looking muddy. Thanks!
The goal for fair people is finding the right shade and if you're cooltone... do not use bronzer as a contour. It's often best to use a true cream contour and then go over it at the end with a powder bronzer. If you feel it's too noticable try using a light finishing powder (Guerlain meteorites are perfect) and buff the whole face until it's seamless. If you use a setting spray at the very end, try putting the liquid on a big powder brush & tapping in the areas you want it the most. Being fair can be challenging, you just have to pick products & shades carefully. Hope that helps 🤍
You answered so many of my questions about why my make up does not enhance my features. Thank you so much! I am a fairly youthful looking 48-year-old, but my make up has been bringing me down. I’m really excited to try these techniques! Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I have subscribed and will watch everything you put out there. I also appreciate your calm and relaxing approach. A+++
This is so well explained and demonstrated! Thank you! The added bonus is I have some similar features to you. It's wild how the right eyeshadow application makes such a difference perfect on deep-set eyes ❤
Thank you Kath, so many have said the explanation was great, I think I can put it down to teaching ladies in real life for years. Hope to see you around in more videos comments! x
I totally agree with the blush and contour instruction, but truthfully, if you have a nose that desperately needs contouring, like mine--which has a bulb where it should have a delicate tip--what you did isn't going to make a difference. My other quibble is the contouring of the jawline. People who have no jowls shouldn't give instructions on how to make them less noticeable😉. I love your natural-looking, daytime look, so it would be interesting to see a series on choosing colors for people who have different color combos. It might be done as a series of shorts. Also, some of us have white hair. Do you have any suggestions on how to blend blush/contour/makeup in general so that the makeup doesn't get in the hair/hairline? I can't possibly be the only person struggling with this. Thanks!
You are an awesome teacher. I love the minimalist style. All your tips make total sense! Now……..can you please teach me how to look 28 instead of 58????? lol lol. Just teasing. I’ll continue to watch your videos. Thanks alot
I thought both sides looked good tbh. I mean she’s pretty either way and I don’t know if their are any mistakes in makeup. I’ve seen makeup artists make up terrible things look absolutely amazing. I think it’s how you look at it. I no longer get stressed when I make up a mistake because of this. I just find a way to fix. Glitter fixes everything.😉
I think you deserve it. I thought I knew everything about how to apply make up. But these simple little tips make such a subtle but very important difference. And you explain it all so clearly.
Hey!! Really appreciated this video! Especially the blush and bronzer tips and lip trick! I can never seem to get lip liner to work well so I’m gonna try this! thank you for clearly explaining it! I’ll definitely be trying this!! New subscriber! 🙌
It’s all relative.
I love having a rounded eye shape versus the long cat eye look.
Many of these things are simply preference.
Very true! I prefer round open eyes as well.
The wrong side looks like 2010’s trends. Brows like that used to be the trend
it's true, we all like different looks in makeup, thanks for watching
One of the best explanations of mistakes I have ever seen. I love the eyeshadow trick and lip trick.
Thank you happy you found value in the video!

Also, both have a place based on the outfit, hairstyle, event, venue, etc. Xoxo

That lip edge is called the “vermillion border”. Overdrawing is always noticeable. People may think it isn’t, but it is.
Particularly once you put gloss on.
I think she did a great job of enlarging her lips without overdrawing them.
I love how you showed side by side, it really helps you see.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I've been struggling with my makeup and feeling like I was in a rut for the past few years. I appreciate all of the tips. I have difficulty with almost all of these things. The dark eyebrow looks so hard and old. Thanks again.
You are so welcome!
I like the retro feel of this vid - all the background noises, the unscripted feel etc It takes me back!
hehe yes guess it's because i'm still quite fresh at making long form TH-cam videos!
I see it. I understand it. But doing it. My heavy hand gets going. And before I know it I have a mess! Every once in awhile I get it right! This was a great tutorial.

You're right, the harsh brow looks like Joan Crawford a la "Mommy Dearest"....
Blush techniques vary on different face shapes with or without chiseled cheekbones imho 😉😘

Gosh id say that's brilliant results as well! I love that, thank you for sharing!! Hope to see you in the comments of my next one.
Honestly, I like both sides, maybe the bad one even better 😊
Bad side: 90s vibes
Good side: youthful vibes
Yea there is no rules, someone else said the 'bad' side looks more vintage even, not that I consider the 90s vintage yet, as I was born very early 90s😅

Thank you for watching Katherine, even better you found it valuable x
Thank you for all the lifting tips. I've tried them, they work and they are priceless for an older person like me who is dead against anything invasive. Brilliant.
So happy you find these few tips brilliant! Thank you!
You have a very nice way of explaining things. What a relaxing style you have!
Thank you so much 🙂 I like to be calm and simple about it, not over complicate it for people.
Thank you for this. I make lots of these mistakes and a woman my age needs all the help she can get to look lifted, fresh and natural.

Happy you enjoyed the video Coral! thats very true about the hairline it can be a tricky area people forget to blend.

Happy you see the subtle but big differences!
Thank you ! 🌹👠🥰
You’re welcome Claire! 😊
very clear and extremely well demonstrated, without having brands overly promoted.
Yes exactly this one was about the placement and techniques over the type of products. Happy you liked!
I think the darker color on your eyebrow, not the downward shape, emphasizes your root color and eye color. Also, I think lip gloss is fine but I've heard from many people that it looks sticky and unnatural. I think a soft cream lipstick in a neutral color is prettier.
I agree that shiny lip gloss looks unattractive.

This is an amazing tutor! Very clear explanation. I definitely learned some new things.

Thank you, Leticia, for a great tutorial on what NOT to do in applying makeup vs what to do for a beautiful face. This was very helpful. Take care!
Thank you Carol so happy you found this video helpful!
Absolutely wonderful. Love the way you explain everything. Your eyes are gorgeous. Thankyou so much.

Excellent tutorial, Thank you !
I’m so glad natural looks are still in style. I’m someone who can’t stand wearing foundation or bronzer. I’m fair too, but I just do blush.
I'm not sure if it's in style or ever been out of style but it's how I like to do my makeup! 🥰
Amazing tips! Did these today and it changed my face… love

You are an awesome teacher. I love the minimalist style. All your tips make total sense! Now……..can you please teach me how to look 28 instead of 58????? lol lol. Just teasing. I’ll continue to watch your videos. Thanks alot

Your descriptions are SO helpful, especially for the eyeshadow! Thanks!
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching
I so so so agree. Defining the Cupid’s bow is important. Coloring right over it is gross (ugly) to look at. Best video of makeup ever! Subscribed!
Thank you for subscribing and welcome! hope to see you on more videos!

I am Soo glad I clicked on this..I had been doing everything wrong, except the lips! Thank you!
just room for improvement, happy you learnt something x
You are so pretty that the “bad” side looks just as good as the “good” side 😂❤
Very kind thank you!
I clicked on this video because I literally couldn’t tell which was the “bad” side. I thought the wrong side looked younger. 😊
Girl same 😂
I thought both sides looked good tbh. I mean she’s pretty either way and I don’t know if their are any mistakes in makeup. I’ve seen makeup artists make up terrible things look absolutely amazing. I think it’s how you look at it. I no longer get stressed when I make up a mistake because of this. I just find a way to fix. Glitter fixes everything.😉
me too! prefer the 'bad' side tbh
Well, yes, I very much doubt she could ever look bad as she is gorgeous, but her correct side does demonstrate great tips for a very natural look.
