New to this site. I really like the way that you explain things - asking and listening, the sleeping security guard, the intentional mistakes. And then seeing it in playful practice. Great stuff!
I really glad you included that last section where you are doing sticky hands with Chris. Now I can share it with people to show them what real Wing Chun is instead of whatever hybrid boxing/wing chun or karate/wing chun a lot of people do.
@@bredmond812 Ya for sure I get that. Our style does have some notable technical differences, and like any professional we can adapt within the technical boundaries. Much the same way a professional musician can play many styles of music does not mean they suddenly become non technical and are allowed to miss the beats. Good timing and technical proficiency remain regardless of the style.
Sifu Wayne Great video, as always.I have a question, when checking to see if the hand is alive or dead, does it entail if there hands are not on center as well as not giving any pressure/ resistance? I apologize if this has already been explained in the video
Subtly ask the hand if it will move. Imagine a security guard that looks asleep. You want to check if he's asleep without waking him up. A little bit of pressure is all that's needed. If he's asleep, you can press a bit more and a bit more. By the time he wakes up, it will be very difficult to recover.

This was a kinda fun play with Chris. There are many different strategies / styles that we can play as part of this diverse training exercise.
@@SifuWayne I sure wish I had that opportunity. Also, I was contrasting your style of wing chun with other instructors elsewhere.

Nice guy. Like that he used a bigger person 👏😁 yes. Intentional mistakes..."investing in loss". You get better at a lower lovel.
