"Así Fue" is a song written and produced by Mexican singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel and performed by Spanish singer Isabel Pantoja. It was released in 1988 as the second single from her studio album Desde Andalucía. The song tells of the singer dealing with her ex-lover after she has a new fiancé. It reached number two on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart in the United States and was the fifth best-performing Latin single of 1989 in the country
Fun fact. They were both really in love and Juan Gabriel ask her to marry him. She said no and regretted it later on in life. This was 20+ years later.
The name of the female singer is Isabel Pantoja. This song was written specifically for her and she made it a huge success in the late 1980's. There are, however, some live concerts where Juan Gabriel sings this song himself. For instance, the 1997 concert in Bellas Artes which is also a great interpretation of this song! (see th-cam.com/video/0O4CLgXvbjU/w-d-xo.html). When Juan Gabriel used to invite guests to his concerts, he would usually step away and let them sing so they could shine by themselves, and not overshadow them. For this particular performance, it is not a coincidence that he doesn't sing at all. He used to say that Isabel made this song "hers". It is not that Juan Gabriel couldn't sing it, it is his way of showing a profound respect and gratitude to Isabel. In my opinion, this is the best interpretation of "Asi Fue". Even surpassing the original release, and many other live performances. The song is already sublime with the orchestra and Isabel's interpretation; yet, the song transcends after 05:15 with the brass solos and then the orchestra finishing with grandeur.
I did also notice the older lady in the violin, and she was also in the violin playing in the Bellas Artes concert, which makes it even better that she transcends events, even if the conductor was not the same, or I think he wasnt. Good for her, she must be a legendary violinist, I wish there was a name to learn. The version in which Juan Gabriel sings it alone, in his own concert alone, is also amazing. This is Isabel Pantoja, and she sang the song and made it hers for a long time before this, but in any case its worth listening to this and Juan Gabriels version, its a different story.
@@UNCLEMOMO Im not sure which ones you have done, but its Amor Eterno, Abrazame, and Asi Fue (his version). Im not sure if you have done Luis Miguel - La incondicional (En vivo), Ana Gabriel - Luna (En vivo), Lola Beltran - Paloma Negra (en vivo small stage), Aida Cuevas - Huapango Torero (en vivo). Those are all great options, if not to react at least to listen to.
"Así fue" is like a: That's how it happened in English. First of all, this concert was JUAN GABRIEL celebrating 40 years of career. He wrote that song for Isabel (the singer in the video) whom he invited to perform it. And as a final detail, they both had a love story, in which he proposed marriage to her when they were young, she did not accept, but she regretted it for the rest of her life.
The way she curtsies to Juan Gabriel and then later how the trumpet player bows to her is so classy, just natural class.
This concert is E P I C !! Two ICONS together! Amazing
Very moving
