Aggy is a good player, but in this boss he was making it much harder than it has to be. Banging his head to the wall....and in the end the wall broke :) The weapon choise, handle and blade mixing is far from optimal, but that has been said many times. I think the strategy was even bigger problem here. Anyone who might still struggle the second phase of this boss: fight him like you would fight Orphan of KO´s in Bloodborne. Prioritize dodging over parrying and most importantly try to stay as close to the boss as you can. Dodge forward and little bit to the side and you realize how much the boss is missing and how generous openings he will leave for you to attack. When he tries to buff the weapon, attack immediately, no charged attack, that´s too slow, just your fastest attacks. Most of the times, you´ll knock him off the buff animation. Another benefit of staying close. Try to avoid standing in front of Romeo backpedalling and especially try to avoid dodging backwards as he will most likely punish you for it, unless you´re a parry god. Anyways, it´s a great boss fight and also very central and sad figure in the story /lore of the game. Very good mid-game boss.
Yeah. I actually used the same weapon assembly. But it's kinda like he missed the point of that weapon entirely. It has extreme range and a lot more speed for such a heavy blade. Thus, it is optimal for dodging in and out and staying out of range while getting hits in yourself. The occasional block is nice because it has over 70% damage reduction too. He completely misplays this weapon, using a playstyle much better suited for the axe handle, or other quick slashing weapon assemblies.
Romeo is actually not that difficult if you choose to dodge his attacks instead of parrying. Some bosses are way easier if you just dodge, while others are way easier if you parry. Aggy is a Sekiro player so he prefers parry only style, but it just doesn't work that well in some fights, especially with parry window being so narrow in Lies of P.
So the voice actress for the youngest of the Black Rabbits is Charlie Cameron. She also voiced three Souls characters, Rhea, The Fair Lady and Syglinde from DS1. And going by photos of her, she looks like she is between late twenties and mid thirtees. So far from a 14-15 year old like some in the chat believed.
Is it bad that I beat him first try? To be fair I did watch my friend (who is much better at Soulsborne and Souls-like in general) play through all the way to the Isle of Alchemists before stopping after the Door Guardian, so I already knew his attacks and everything. I also ran out of pulse cells TWICE and was only 2 hits away from death. But I still got him!
"If you mess up a parry, you just get the full combo. If you mess up a dodge you don't" Yes It's called RISK-REWARD Something more games should do The parry gives you really good rewards in the buildup of the destruction meter for the stagger The dodge does not Ergo, the dodge is the safer option Ergo, the parry is the riskier option and therefore gives you more in return I don't understand why this type of shit is still something that players either complain about or are confused about. It's literally as simple as 1+1=2. More risk involved? More reward. Less risk involved? Less reward. Then again considering the average IQ of a bunch of the chatters in Aggy's chat, it's no wonder
ehhh Parrying for how risky it is, should have a bigger reward, or be less scary. In most other games a single parry is either relatively easy (sekiro) or more rewarding (dark souls/bloodborne). So while i agree that the base idea of risk /reward is there, i dont feel it is balanced very well you risk DEATH, your reward is an unknown amount of stagger meter and on some bosses, weapon breakage after a reasonably high amount of parries. 10+ perfect guards and you still need to R2 him in the head for your finisher (or throw a shotput). So yea, you end up with a high risk, low reward on a per parry basis, which i assume is what people complain about.
@@DarqionNonsense. It's the same thing as Dark Souls' shield parry but no one whines about that even though you can die just as easily there (probably even easier because enemies hit harder and there are more enemies per area, Lies of P has very little in terms of gank) It is incredibly balanced. On my first playthrough I sucked at parrying, beat almost all bosses with a Spectre. Now on my second playthrough I'm actually *MAKING AN ATTEMPT* to learn the parrying and it's incredible how easy it actually is if you just set aside any "oh well this is unbalanced" bullshit and just actually try to learn. The bosses that, even with a Spectre, took me ages to beat I now beat in the first 5-7 tries if not faster. That clown enemy I can perfect parry the ENTIRE TIME and he dies in 30 seconds due to how fast he staggers if you just parry his round-robin attack. I'm not someone that easily says "just git gud" because I hate elitist mentality. This however is simply a case of allowing yourself to get good by not whining or getting frustrated. Yesterday I beat one of the hardest bosses in the game, Puppet- Devouring Green Monster, in my 7th attempt, with most attempts being close. I am not an amazing Souls player. I dropped Sekiro because I just couldn't deal with the gameplay. I only Platinum'd Bloodborne, every other Souls game I simply beat and that's it. So if I can do that, it means that it's balanced just fine. Because I'm older, I don't have twitch reflexes like teens, yet still can beat the hardest enemies in the game with parrying. The clown in Lorenzini's Arcade for instance, only hit me once, broke both his weapons, because I learnt his patterns. That's what makes good game design. If you LEARN the mechanics and patterns, it should become easy, and it does. The ONE thing I will agree is that it would be nice to see the stagger meter but I don't think that makes it unbalanced, as if you've played even a few hours of this game you naturally can gauge when it will roughly happen. Add to that the free health vial you can generate by being aggressive and it's clear how it's incentivized (and as you should know, a successful stagger gives a TON of charge to that free health vial, which you can even upgrade later) so in that sense there's even more reward. Stop being brainwashed that every game needs to be exactly like FromSoftware to be balanced. The first Dark Souls is an abysmal experience after the halfway mark (with the first half being excellent), with a significant drop in quality in both boss design and area design. Yet people claim that game to be a Masterpiece and the most perfect game out there when it factually isn't. It's a good game, I'm not saying it's not, but it's also very clear how many of you look at it with rose-tinted glasses and if it had come out today it would be panned just as bad as Dark Souls II was on release even though Dark Souls II is miles ahead of Dark Souls in certain areas (though lacks in others)
@@blinkachu5275 You clearly haven't played dark souls 1 in a long time, a shield parry on any parryable enemy instantly renders them open to a critical hit. That absolutely is not the case in Lies of P. Don't get me wrong Aggy played wrong in every imaginable way short of not equipping a weapons, but the comparison to dark souls 1 is utter bull.
I know it is late to comment, but the most hilarious fact is that Aggy even refused to use electric Blitz grindstone for the puppet type enemy/boss that are especially weak for it. Instead, he uses fire....same was for Archbishop boss. He was weak AF to fire damagw even with unupgraded weapon. He used electric blitz with Fulminis....
Lmao that’s so real, I remember using a shotput to get the stagger cause I was out of heals and I was worried I’d get combo’d if I got to close (it didn’t save me ;w;). Still i love this boss design and how it plays but I can admit I had to take a few breathers cause of 2nd phase.
I kept waiting for the entire stream for someone to point out he can put a weapon in his secondary slot that has a quick charged R2, like the dagger. He's using the moveset with the slowest charged R2 I've found so far. Also, honestly, the parry window feels pretty great, personally.
@@SalarianSpectrethrown a dagger into my second slot, and was always slightly heavy. So I opted for 1 weapon, and keeping myself just below 60%. Ngl, no idea what I said before. But second weapon is too much weight, at least now capacity is better
Chatters are soooo annoying "Is this game good?" "This is like bloodborne" "Is this the last boss" "Why is the text all glitchy?" How many times does this need to be answered?? Half of the time it was answered 2 seconds ago, do people post in chat and never look at it again?? I genuinely feel like people are making this boss out worse than it was. I didn't struggle nearly this much. Aggy must know that the red attacks have to be deflected, and cannot be dodged?
It really wasnt that bad, i feel like too many people are relying on dodging and not getting in perfect blocks or even bothering to learn it. It’s honestly hilarious seeing them struggle when they just try to dodge everything and utterly fail. Dodging does nothing but make fights longer. At least if you take the time to learn perfect blocking, you still build that stagger up a lot. but dodging doesnt, idk why people resort to that. so stupid
I'll be honest I'm taking my time and leveling up beyond what i probably need to be doing but it gave me a heads up on the battle system and learning the ins and outs of the game while being a bit op when i do get to a certain boss even if I'm lacking a bit in skill i can overpower my enemies.
I’m just watching this and I’m on the part where you upgraded weapons and said I’m not going to mess with the weapon changing mixing of the handle and blade, it’s the best part lol
I’m just trying to figure out why he’s using a “stab” handle with a “slash” blade. I haven’t watched until the end of the video yet, but that surely can’t be helping the damage he’s getting. Anyhow. Just thoughts.
Same. Feel like some of the later bosses tread along the line of just being blatantly unfair. King of Puppets and Romeo was such a well balanced fight.
I love K. o. P. Because it’s so absurd ^w^, He makes you feel small in the first phase. But when you free him from his kingly shell, he’s eye level if not slightly taller. Showing that you’ve grown to his his level. Atleast in my mind :p
Classic soulsborne issue of ending up with a terrible build. The moment he picked the rapier when he wanted to do a parry heavy build was a huge issue. Its not a parry focused weapon at all.
@@kundalinirvana7401I'm saying bro this was incredibly painful to watch , mans using the rapier handle so his lights are fast as fuck , he literally could've killed Romeo on one of the attempts by throwing two lights as soon as he stood up but he backed up like 20 paces and got frontflip kicked in his mouth , which btw I literally never saw that move from Romeo prolly cuz I was in his face the whole god damn time. When the mad clown dose his red attacks that's the only real time you have to punish hem other than throwing your bombs ,he does the red attacks often so it's much easier knowing this
Funny how he is malding all over the stagger system. That's literally the point, you either greed it or not. If you are using a slow charge attack handle and can't handle the pros and cons that's literally your fault lol
@@Walamonga1313 This is stupid take. I literally played this game two times. One for Motivity and one for Technique. Both have their own advantages. You just have to get how they work instead of malding about them being inbalanced when you can't even support your claim.

The use of no fable arts, no throwables, no grinder, no parrying was just so painful to watch. Im no pro gamer but i beat this guy in about an hour with no specter just by using what the game gives you and playing the way it was built.
I'm sure this is well-trodden territory by now, but doesn't everyone know that practically all of Romeo's attacks can easily be dodged and punished. No parrying necessary, and is quite simple.
took me 3 tries with dex build. i think its playstyle differences. i rarely use block/perfect guard and usually just spam dodge and land 1 or 2 hits if i can, which worked surprisingly well against romeo. i was p surprised when i saw ppl were struggling against him, lol then i discovered it's because they're trying to perfect guard his insane combos😂
Chat was fuckin trolling when they said amulets are too good to go for weapons. Most of the boss amulets are mid and you usually only want 1 bc theyre so heavy
@@swiwiws125because he was under the impression from the demo that the dodging was ass and that parrying was king, then he learned that a mix of dodging and parrying is required. Though to me they both seem vital, I can see why he wouldn't bother with them straight away.
It wasn't even that much about levels I was about the same level here... His main problem was the GOD AWFUL weapon he made the handle and the blade DON'T work together also it has the WORST charged R2 from the weapons in the game. He also just kept doing the same thing over and over again. Like the fire attack you can easily dodge it or straight up run away his fire effect only last for like 20 secs or so. So it was def a skill issue 100% and not understanding the game mechanics.
@@Defnotdiabloat least now we can respec, so he can give himself more health, and fix his p organs. I don't use double dodge anymore, i use the fable and the extra flask, althought the rising dodge is absolutely mandatory. The fire shovel guys can eat it
While his fight against KoP was made harder by having a bad build, he did the one thing you shouldn't do. He hesitated. He lost because he wasn't mentally strong enough.
3:28:02 - but how good? 4:30:14 that chat was just plain stupid. If FromSoftware sues Neowiz then Nintendo needs to sue FromSofware for ripping off Zelda's open world design to make Elden Ring...lol
I don’t know if you start using the cube more later but don’t sleep on it completely. Yeah most of the buffs are specter related and the health regen is trash but the legion one and patience one are actually nice. Fable one is cool too because getting fable faster means getting op fables back for a annoying boss. I think they definitely should buff the health regen to at least heal more quickly or heal decently for longer cause we already can have so many pulse cells so one extra heal shouldn’t be op. My point is though its better to utilize these buffs than ignore them. The patience one helped me survive romeos long combo for example back when I was on my first playthrough.
Some mini bosses get weaker wobbly and lower if you can hit a crit. Also must enemy’s can have their wepon broken not super viable as a strat for most of the named ones tho
That fire effect on the bosses weapon is like a grind stone use it only lasts 30 secs or so you just run away and the effect wears off. i just stayed away and boom no problem...
I was stuck in him only for his fire attack. I did. Fine up until that they just got wombo comboed. I found that if you have a lighter load and you just run to the side then spam dodge was what worked best for me, made me rage hard tho lmao

I always really liked the wishstone mechanic cause it basically isn’t for you. I didn’t use them at all because I didn’t use specters but for people who find the game too difficult it gives them a different avenue to do damage and effects through their specter. It’s a different play style for people more tailored towards specters. Granted I never used it so what do I know. But on paper that’s what it sounds like it’s mechanically for
Don't feel bad about it. After completing the game, I can attest that Archbishop was one of the more difficult bosses to deal with. Obviously, it varies from person to person, but I found it very tough. Maybe it will help to know that once you beat him, things might get a bit better. You probably already know, but the best advice I can give is to try to focus on the "frog side" of 2nd phase. The "serpent side's" moves are super difficult to read and react to.
i found honestly the best assemble. AXE handle with Sweeper blade. trust me on this one. the reach and damage is insanee. you can also swap the sweeper blade to other long blades with lots of damage. every attack pattern is good reach... its the S tier assemble.
Police Baton + Bonesaw blade is way way far more superior. the reach shits on the sweeper blade. and does noticeably more damage. sorry, this combo is King

Brings somewhat sick satisfaction to see Aggy struggle and die a lot on first playthrough. I mean the game is hard, but not that hard. Propably no hitting the game already at the time at writing so commitment goes a long way it seems.
I got Romeo w about 10 throwables and hit him w a couple live traps and he died easy. I didn’t find out the throwables were a thing till before this fight.

Rally is the mechanic in Bloodborne where when you get hit, if you play aggressively and attack back you can regain (or rally) back some of the lost health. In Lies of P it works similar, but only when guarding an attack. So.. hold the block button, take a hit, hit back to gain back HP.

Aggy is a good player, but in this boss he was making it much harder than it has to be. Banging his head to the wall....and in the end the wall broke :)
The weapon choise, handle and blade mixing is far from optimal, but that has been said many times.
He is subpar
I just dodged to the left and he couldnt handle it at all 😂
I didnt even watch a video on how to fight him.
Only a weapon art or stagger will cancel his animation... normal attacks will not, not even a fully charged heavy.
Romeo is actually not that difficult if you choose to dodge his attacks instead of parrying.
Some bosses are way easier if you just dodge, while others are way easier if you parry.
Aggy is a Sekiro player so he prefers parry only style, but it just doesn't work that well in some fights, especially with parry window being so narrow in Lies of P.
his scythe breaks easily if you parry him in first phase
Nah you can easily parry this boss down. He was just playing too cautious.
aggy at 5 hours: "boss does not seem as bad!". *looking at video preview for the next 3.5 hours* weeeeellllll
There are some insane weapon combinations but tbh it’s intuitive that if you use a hammer for stabbing it’s not going to be effective
But it provides range and this guy is not out to do it fast, he is out to learn the moves.
It's not worth it. There's 0 arguments for using that over any other combo.@@zufallrap
So the voice actress for the youngest of the Black Rabbits is Charlie Cameron. She also voiced three Souls characters, Rhea, The Fair Lady and Syglinde from DS1. And going by photos of her, she looks like she is between late twenties and mid thirtees. So far from a 14-15 year old like some in the chat believed.
lul that conversation in chat about whether to thirst after her or not for the first like 10 attempts is hilarious.

If you mess up a dodge you don't"
Yes
It's called
RISK-REWARD
Something more games should do
The parry gives you really good rewards in the buildup of the destruction meter for the stagger
The dodge does not
Ergo, the dodge is the safer option
Ergo, the parry is the riskier option and therefore gives you more in return
I don't understand why this type of shit is still something that players either complain about or are confused about.
So while i agree that the base idea of risk /reward is there, i dont feel it is balanced very well
you risk DEATH, your reward is an unknown amount of stagger meter and on some bosses, weapon breakage after a reasonably high amount of parries. 10+ perfect guards and you still need to R2 him in the head for your finisher (or throw a shotput). So yea, you end up with a high risk, low reward on a per parry basis, which i assume is what people complain about.
@@DarqionNonsense. It's the same thing as Dark Souls' shield parry but no one whines about that even though you can die just as easily there (probably even easier because enemies hit harder and there are more enemies per area, Lies of P has very little in terms of gank)
It is incredibly balanced.
@@blinkachu5275perfectly said
@@blinkachu5275 You clearly haven't played dark souls 1 in a long time, a shield parry on any parryable enemy instantly renders them open to a critical hit. That absolutely is not the case in Lies of P.

I kept waiting for the entire stream for someone to point out he can put a weapon in his secondary slot that has a quick charged R2, like the dagger. He's using the moveset with the slowest charged R2 I've found so far.
Also, honestly, the parry window feels pretty great, personally.

It really wasnt that bad, i feel like too many people are relying on dodging and not getting in perfect blocks or even bothering to learn it. It’s honestly hilarious seeing them struggle when they just try to dodge everything and utterly fail. Dodging does nothing but make fights longer. At least if you take the time to learn perfect blocking, you still build that stagger up a lot. but dodging doesnt, idk why people resort to that. so stupid
