A really nice Reel but a Bear to work on I would think , Dennis you sure needed your clock working ability and a Schematic to complete this service / repair job .

Most bait casters pack a lot into a small cavity, which of course makes it more difficult to service - Thanks again Bobby

I’m looking forward to seeing a KastKing surf spinning reel to see how much plastic is used in their large spinning reels. Another great diagnosis on this reel. Great job Dennis. I got a Penn 650ss in the mail today and while giving the reel a preliminary test I found that the AR switch on the bottom of the reel near the rotor was just flopping around. It would not hold. I tried that AR by holding the switch in either position and it did stop the clicker. I haven’t opened it up yet but my guess is the eccentric spring for that AR switch is either broken or is not sitting in the correct place to make that switch hold in both positions. This reel has what amounts to a double AR system. I’m hoping that since the AR holds if I hold the switch in position that the AR dog is okay. If this makes sense what do you think of my diagnosis idea as to what is wrong with that switch? I’m having surgery again tomorrow so I won’t be opening that 650ss reel for a while yet. When I do I’ll tell you if I was right or not. The rest of the reel is beautiful and functions as it should. - Chris
