Down the Cellar 111 - Foulweather Friends

- Rain, rain, and more rain, enough to put an Englishamn off his tea. And cold, and damp, and... well you get the idea. The weather outside is just miserable, but the lights (and the heat) are on down the cellar. If there's a better way to spend a cold, rainy and bleak January afternoon than discussing miiitaria over drinks, these two plucky knuckleheads haven't heard of it.
Pull up a chair; there's always room for one more!
BOILERPLA... ER, GENERAL INFO:
Tom, Deb, and Ob would like to thank everyone who have been kind enough to send in gifts. Seriously, you guys are just the best.
I'd like to thank each and every one of you who take the time to watch DtC, and am very grateful to everyone who takes even more time out of their day to comment. In a perfect world Tom or Ob would be able to engage with everyone in the comment section, but alas the world is far from perfect. Tom doesn't know how (and refuses to learn) and Ob is something of a Luddite.
FAQ & A:
Q: I have a burning question about something in the video! What should I do?!
A: An email sent directly to Tom is the best way to get your question answered, because while he most definitely reads each and every one of your comments, he hasn't quite gotten the hang of replying to them in the comment section, and is not likely to in the foreseeable future. Or ever. Seriously, he still calls TH-cam "the U-TOOBZ".
Tom's personal email is: herrwittmann@gmail.com
You can also call him if you prefer (856-866-8733) between the hours of 9 AM and 4 PM, EST. This may be slightly more difficult because he's forever running around away from his desk, but it's worth a shot.
Q: I have an amusing anecdote, scathing criticism, or heartfelt compliment that I deeply need to express and I require / demand / long for a personalized response! What should I do?
A: See "A" above.
Again, Tom's email is: herrwittmann@gmail.com

That’s a Swiss helmet that Ob thought was Italian 🪖It usually has the “Alpenflage” camo pattern liner on them. I had one some years back. Picked it up for 30$ at a local army & navy surplus store. Definitely a cool helmet. Hope that helps guys.
You should do a video showing your process on scabbard dent removal. I’d like to see how it’s done.
I feel that, though it may not be the best business decision on his part. Lol
I wonder how many cubic ft. of the Normandy beaches is sitting in containers in peoples houses around the world lol.
Love your videos - true History that one can touch! Considering the painting - it is signed in Russian, it was created in the city of Gomel, Belarus. Artist - Nikolaj Malets. He was born in 1892, full name Nikolaj Pavlovich Malets, he was a teacher - taught art.
Loved that imperial dagger and the silverware to go with it. Thanks guys
I used to sell German WW2 soldier paintings back in the mid 2000s but they were always so difficult to ship and the profits weren't that much compared to just selling original German WW2 photos which I've done since 2001
Hello Team Wittmann! Lots of greats in this video. The Alabama box was a winner.
Great channel, thank you but please handle the silver more carefully. They shoukd be wrapped in anti tarnish cloth and not banged together as they are taken off screen. Love these unpacking vids thanks.

Lovely naval dagger. Once again Wittmann has the best.
The Krugerrands are very nice but they need to get rid of milk spots on the silver coins
Love the banter 😊, greetings from wales
The 1942 painting was a nice thing indeed!
Couldn‘t ask for a better Birthdaypresent. Many thanks and grettings from Germany.
Happy Birthday!
Edit: From St. Louis, Missouri, USA
Thank you ! 👍
Always enjoying your videos. Love full Röhm SA dagger, I just love that one.
As I sit in my cellar enjoying a relaxing tumbler of "Old Barn Owl" bourbon and reading another "Mike Madrid "I"ll Ask The Questions" Private Investigator in his latest adventure "The Big Kibosh" I do enjoy the show.
Most excellent
Hello Tom. I really like the German Helmet Model 1940, it’s a Normandy Camo.
great show, some really nice daggers. the rohm kinda takes the cake tonight. the camo helmet is really nice. the size 62 will hurt its value for sure i think. and i collect helmets. american helmet is a nam era or mid 70s. thanks for sharing. always love you unboxings.
I always found the first drink tastes like another one...
The queen Victoria story was new to me! Great info as alaways. I'd never collect nazi cutlery etc, but the whole backstory to the luck on the British plates, with the swastika, makes it entirely more fascinating. We all know the new evil symbology, but it's important to remember the historic significance of what it meant, and it's polar opposite to what it means now.
First ❤😂thank you Sir and your Family..PS.i dont saw the Video allraedy
Morning coffee with the guys enjoy that smoke and drink 🥃🚬
The sand is probably from the jersey shore😅
Maybe, from Tobruk.
its a swiss helmet
This "sand bags" remind of the pieces of the Berlin wall which were sold in the 1990s.
lol. My dad use to do donkey bits on us kids. He is a military guy too. Maybe that’s where they learned that. Lol
👍
could be a Swiss helmet
I was watching a newly released WW2 black and white (now in color) documentary and a panzer tank guy was narrating about his unit and mentioned a highly decorated tank commander named Wittmann, have you D.T.C. Wittmann's any relatives who fit that profile, this particular Wittmann was the equivalent of what the Luftwaffe called an Ace, only he was a tank commander, Is Wittmann a really common German name, thanks, I liked this episode... 111...Is that right Ob :)
❤
Swiss Army steel helmet Modell 18. No Star wars!😂

The painting subject strongly resembles Keitel.

The ground Röhm SS dagger in the beginning of the video I’m pretty certain is a Gottlieb
It’s a hammy forsure
great chanel - unfortunately the camera style is more like "earthquake" - please buy a steadycam handle bar
Painting is signed Gomeli 1942 its a city in Belarus
😃👍
I'm Australian and ashamed
Prost Mr Wittmann and son. Grüsse aus Leipzig
The helmet (1:03) belongs to an Italian from Star Wars 🤣
Swiss army.
@@TellySavalas-or5hf it was a joke huh 🤣😉
8:00 for gys working with tools
I think you should have shown us the SS helmet for educational purposes. Show us the fakes so we can learn what to look out for.
It takes more than rain to put an Englishman off his tea, in fact rain in England is usual
Collecting for decades and you don't know a LOT of basic stuff. Fun videos though.
He’s a dagger guy
He only claims to be a dagger expert, It is guys like him that spend a lifetime learning and documenting facts about one item like daggers and share their knowledge for free [ or in books] that we all learn from.
