    Something you can think about for Dragon Palm Strike is that, to a certain extent, this is a real attack. This is (albeit a bit dramatized) a palm strike to the solar plexus. Something like that will knock the wind out of you at the very least, but with the skill and the strength that we can assume Aramusha has, he may very well have broke the sternum, punctured the heart or lungs, and most likely hit the pressure point in the center of his chest. Done correctly, heavy strikes to pressure points can damage the nervous system. I will admit, for the average person this would not be lethal, but Aramusha is trained in this sort of thing. If you can shatter bricks and boards with a forward palm strike, you can absolutely shatter the ribs.

    • @jdpower9032
      @jdpower9032 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Pressure point attacks are largely ineffective and borderline fictional. A forward palm strike would not have the force to shatter ribs, but it can certainly crack the sternum. The lethality would be the result of cardiac arrest, which is a possibility when the chest is hit extremely hard, which is why baseball pitchers wear chest guards.

    • @olakpasa6486
      @olakpasa6486 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I can get behind a fractured sternum but pressure points are very in effective, you cannot cause permanent damage to the CNS by hitting a spot really hard, you could argue that in for honor characters are canonically superhuman but max I can give you is that he may have broken the ribs

    • @thegrayone5666
      @thegrayone5666 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @JD Power I mean law enforcement trains a bit with those don't they? Can't be that useless.
      Plus I don't know what hitting someone full force would do to one honestly. Musha is not a weak boy. Not by any stretch. The man can look at a massive spiked metal kanabo and has the strength to not just deflect the angle of the attack to lessen the force. But full on *block* it. Not try to redirect that force but full on meet it head on and stop it. Never mind his swords of BSitim, his arms remain arms and not red jelly. Imagine those arms hitting something vital full "lethal force"

    6:21. It's possible that the reason it's called that is because of Aramusha's motions throughout the whole execution: He's always moving with a consistent flow to his actions much like how a stream has a consistent flow with the water. Something I've thought about for the thibgs where the opponent catches things that they shouldn't (think fast), I think people tend to try and catch things thrown at them. I mean the amount of times while at school that a guy threw or tossed something randomly and I just caught it instinctively.

    Well, guess that kind of figured. I’m rather surprised to see so many stabbing executions though. I mean, from what I know of the way Musashi’s style fights, his style was mostly slashing seeing as the Katana and Wakizashi are mainly slashing swords. So it’s kind of weird to see him thrust his swords more often than slashing his swords.

    While otherwise a great grading, I think that the world of For Honor has established an (at least) low magic level setting. With the Wyvern, bracelet, Jorogumo and the BP event that I don't remember the name of, we've seen time and time again that there is at least some kind of magic in the world that some people are capable of using. I don't think you could fault the realism of an execution like Tiger Palm Strike when it is possibly realistic in that setting.

    • @RavenKnightYT
      @RavenKnightYT  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      When I grade realism, I do not base it on what's realistically possible in the world of For Honor for that very reason. Since the limits of reality are often twisted in For Honor, I cannot accurately know what's 'real' by that worlds standards. Therefore I only use what's real in the standards of our world.

    What I will say really quickly is that I don't think these are classic Uchigatana, but either chisa katana or Kodachi, considering their length. They're obviously not going to have the same individual stopping power that an Uchigatana or Nodachi could, but they make up for it with their light weight, which gives them better defense with quick movements and more efficient stamina consumption. It makes for a good defensive style which is greatly represented in Aramusha's moveset

    For barehanded beatdown. I first thought you were right and he hit the back of the head, but I now relise after watching the video that he most likely punshes right on the very top of the neck, which could defenitly break the neck like this. Also for dragon palm strike. I think he first hit's the neck with his fingers creating a airpocket in the artery, then he hit's the other side of the neck sow it swells causing presure to build in the artery's around the neck, to then punsh him in the chest pumping his hart forcing the airbuble to shoot right into his brain. This could maby work, but you have to be sow extreemly well versed in human anatomie to make this happen that I would say it's still unrealistic.

    You could say neither one on their own could do it, realistically. But if the first one simply cuts open enough of the neck to decrease resistance for the follow up strike, wouldn't that make it more realistic then any of the other attacks that decapitated? There'd be less to cut through in comparison to the first blow.

    Heyyyyy Raven. I have a question: If you could make a monk hero for For Honor, what would they be? (Like what would their asthetic be like, their origins, moveset, etc.)
    I put my idea here if anyone wants to rate:
    *Asthetic:*
    Like Shaolin
    *Origin:*
    Another Wu Lin (yay.....). I don't really have any ideas for this :/
    *Moveset:*
    1. Has three stances (I know, crazy)
    a. Mantis Style, which would focus on counterattacks/redirecting attacks
    b. Monkey Style, which would focus on disorienting opponents (Low damage, quick attacks)
    c. Dragon Style, which would focus more on defense and grounding an opponent (Low damage, immobilizing, grappling)
    2. Mantis Style:
    a. You enter Mantis stance by holding backwards and inputting guardbreak (This has a quick animation and has no recovery)
    b. While in Mantis Stance, you have no guard
    c. You can immediately follow up a parry with a light attack (It works like Berserker's light after a heavy) which knocks the opponent back a very small distance (12 damage)
    d. You can deflect while in Mantis stance (Deflecting would be a redirecting attack), deflect an attack and input guardbreak to deal 100% the attacks damage back to the attacker (It would be an unblockable bash. The animation would be a circular redirection into an elbow to the chest. Maximum damage of 30 though)
    e. Your chains consist of: Light-Light, Light-Heavy, Heavy-Heavy, Heavy-Light (The finisher heavy pushes back a little bit, but otherwise, no properties) (Light opener and finisher are 10 damage. Heavy opener is 20 and finisher is 22)
    3. Monkey Style:
    a. You enter Monkey Stance by dodging backward and pressing guardbreak (This has a miniscule amount of i-frames and low recovery)
    b. While in Monkey stance, you have dodge recoveries (You cannot dodge attack from a dodge recovery, although you can deflect. 300 milliseconds)
    c. On a parry, you can immediately counter by pressing guardbreak, which performs a knee to the face which stuns for a short time, sends the attacker back a bit, and does 8 damage
    d. Dodge forward and press guardbreak to perform a quick grab and strike to the head from below (Stuns for a short time, barely knocks back, 0 damage, does not guarantee an attack, 500 milliseconds)
    e. You can dodge forward or to the side and press Heavy at the same time to perform a forward or side dodge attack
    f. You can deflect an attack and press guardbreak to perform a knee to the face which does 8 damage, stuns for a short time, knocks the attacker back a bit, and guarantees an opener light
    g. You can immediately follow up a parry with guardbreak to perform a strong unblockable punch to the chest that knocks back and does 28 damage (The attack is 900 milliseconds, is only guaranteed on a light parry, does not grant an execution, and cannot be feinted)
    h. Your chains consist of: Light-Light-Light, Light-Light-Heavy, Light-Heavy-Light, Heavy-Light-Light, Heavy-Light-Heavy, Heavy-Heavy-Heavy (Light opener and chain Light are 8 damage, finisher Light is 10 damage. Heavy openers and chain Heavies do 22 damage, finisher Heavies do 24. Also the Heavy attacks would be kicks when it comes to animation)
    4. Dragon Style:
    a. Dragon Stance is the default stance that you start in after spawning or being revived. You can switch back to it by inputting full block from neutral (This does not activate full block. If you switch stances and run to another location, you will enter in the same stance you were in when you began running)
    b. After parrying, immediately press guardbreak to perform a quick punch to the chest (It works like a bash, 466 milliseconds, 12 damage, small knockback, ONLY after a parry), hold guardbreak after a parry to perform a 966 millisecond grapple which unbalances them (Sweep does no damage, guarantees a finisher Heavy with no properties)
    c. Heavy openers can be soft feinted into a trap like Nuxia's by inputting guardbreak, but they don't chain on miss (Trap pushes the opponent back a bit and unbalances them if the opponent is out of stamina)
    d. You can activate a full block (Wait don't leave) which behaves very similar to Aramusha's full block. It lasts for 500 milliseconds, and can be activated 200 milliseconds into any attack (*attack* ... not bash or grapple) recovery (When an opponent hits your full block, input guardbreak to perform a quick Dragon Style palm strike to the chest, knocking the attacker back and doing 10 damage. You cannot cancel this recovery with full block)
    e. You can perform a special attack on an unbalanced enemy by inputting heavy while targeting them (30 damage)
    f. Your chains consist of: Light-Heavy Heavy-Light Heavy-Heavy (Light opener does 12, Light finisher does 13. Heavy opener does 23, Heavy finisher does 26. Finisher Heavy is undodgeable and works like Afeera's finisher heavy, except it unbalances out-of-stamina opponents on hit)
    Links to videos I got info and inspiration from:
    *Mantis:* th-cam.com/video/TTyo56rjdAg/w-d-xo.html
    *Monkey:* th-cam.com/video/PTRhmC6_wFE/w-d-xo.html
    *Dragon:* th-cam.com/video/a3sqfYCMCN4/w-d-xo.html
    What I put here is very much incomplete, as I came up with it in less than 4 hours, so any modifications to balance or make it cooler or more realistic or more practical are very welcome :)
    Also please correct me on anything regarding fighting styles, as I just had this idea and don't know much (If anything) about fighting styles.

    Raven I don't know much about it but what about pressure points

      Attacking pressure points wouldn’t kill but it would probably immobilize the person

      Also, pressure points are not what movies show, they are not mystical points on your body that when punched in a certain order makes your heart stop, a point of pressure could be the point between your eyes and nose for example

    Honestly I'm gonna start off by saying that I love your whole system, I love your content, I love how much work and effort you put into it and your videos, however Aramusha and Kyoshin and similar heroes show flaws in the system. For example this system would do better in an actually realistic game. For Honor, in most senses is not realistic. Most strikes on the battlefield would kill in one hit, some wouldn't do anything to opponents wearing armor. You applied a system that focuses completely on human physiology when every hero is in some way a supernatural deity in some way, some a demigod, from hero specific feats, to inhuman moves, stances, and styles of fighting.
    I don't want to be the person who uses their godlike status to excuse EVERYTHING, weapons, even made of fictional steel would have limits much like their bodies do, however it's hard to balance realism and For Honor effectively. It's like judging whether or not you could easily crush someone's head because Omni Man did it in his universe. Yes, he has superpowers being a alien from space, so you would say "Duh of course he can he's super strong" And For Honor is not that different at all, all the heroes are large, even compared to pikemen and soldiers, and it's apparent they are hard to kill judging by attacks they live through (Can take damage from, but also can live through, except Hitokiri's funny button)
    Every hero can kill soldiers and pikemen, even with shields in one hit from any move.
    You cannot judge these heroes by human standards. Yes, Heroes like Peacekeeper and Shaman are smaller, Lawbringer and Shugoki are huge. You could easily judge according to weight and height and overall build too, same for the more medium sized heroes. In some cases when dealing with supernatural heroes you could implement a For Honor universe variant, where score/judgement/stats are fitted according to their world, which brings me to the issues with efficiency, you have to think of how efficient it would be on For Honor's battlefield, since that's where they are actively doing the execution, and you can use the soliders interrupting executions as a reason to fill in for "This takes too long, you're exposing yourself to attacks" which is Completely valid, the only issue is even the fastest executions can be interrupted, so when you grade long or short executions you think of them in a scenario that would least benefit them. Yes battles are fast and chaotic but its not always the case, and can be unfair for score when you're always judging the long executions as if it's in the same field as the shorter ones, it's hard to balance that perfection of efficiency and flair when they almost always oppose each other. For example Centurion has a lot of personality in his executions but he shows off a lot and takes a while in most cases. Aramusha more often gets the job done while having his personality in there, though the more they express themselves, the longer they usually take.
    Again, your system is ASTOUNDING but I feel like it doesn't work properly in some examples or cases with heroes and their executions, especially if you're setting them at the same exact standards as the Modern Day average male, and every hero is far from that in some capacity. However yes some executions like Vortiger's Regard or Shugoki's Head Crush one, or Aramusha's Rebel Just For the Kicks, do not make any sense, I feel like they should be judged by the standards of the characters, not normal people, because none of them are normal people, so you're taking their amazing feats they put on display and scale their power down to average joe terms and go "Yep we can't do that" and yes that works for the unnecessary or physics breaking executions like mentioned before, but sometimes that unfairly works against executions that have the sole purpose of showing off their strength, speed, and power.
    Again man I love your content and everything about it, this was just a thought I had and wanted to put out there ❤

    Please Read. Okay Raven night era music dragon fist execution and the lucky one are completely realistic and highly lethal let me tell you why... It's clear to me that culture affects some of these executions like hitokiri kicky executions with kung fu and these executions kung fu is exemplified with the kick one being a iron finger strike through dedicated training of his fingers he's toughen them a name that a specific neck vertebra and disjointes it. High level of skill and decades of training are required. The Emojis are clearly to represent his chi. For the dragon fist go back to Kung Fu Panda this is a pressure point or nerve cluster attack. Intended to send his opponent into convulsions or a seizure that's why he looks like. And watching Kung Fu Panda look at the shifu scene you'll see the the contact points are the same chi. I'm sorry about for for honor's sloppy cartoonish executions. I hope this cleared everything up these executions are clearly based on Japanese culture.

    Going to get this out of the way first. I would give dragons palm, and beat down realism scores of 0. Bc they implement those anime motions and styles. The moment an executions partakes in an anime style, that breaks realism standards, it should automatically result in a 0.
    (Thats just my opinion though)
    2nd point. I, also in my personal opinion, don't find musha cool in the slightest. He tries to come off edgy and cool, but he's FAR too ridiculous to even be taken seriously. So why he tries to portray himself as this edgy ronin. To me, he just comes off like careless 8th grader. Thus, he's just cringe. He's too anime and unrealistic for me to consider him as someone who could square off against the higher caliber warriors in the game. Ergo, if I was to grade him, his cool factor, it would be hurting drastically.
    (But this is all just my opinion. You obviously feel different about the character. And I respect the perspective you have on the character.)
    And despite my personal bais. I love this series, and appreciate the effort you put into it.

      i agree, but i will actually lose my marbles if you don't think kyoshin is ten times worse as far as cringe goes. At least aramusha has skill when using his weapon, kyoshin uses his sword in reverse grip for half his moveset which is unnecessary to say the least. Don't even get me started on orochi. I feel like compared to some of the aesthetics that other samurai give off aramusha is def not the cringiest one.
