- Some segments from Video Singles, long before MuchMusic (or Toronto Rocks) existed and John in the booth was the only way to see new music videos in Toronto.
Retrontario’s primary mission is the preservation, research and exhibition of rare videotape recordings (1970s to 1990s) recorded off of any and all Ontario (and surrounding area) TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. We also hope to create an ongoing oral history of this content through comments left below the videos. Please add to this evolving history, if you know more information pertaining to the clips, fondly remember them or have a modern thought all comments are welcome! The era when Music videos began to take off.
ZZ Top played at the Kingswood Music Theatre on Sep 11, 1983. The Kingswood Theatre was removed from Canada's Wonderland a couple years ago.
Really, I didn't know they took it down. I saw Talking Heads during the Stop Making Sense tour there. Great venue.
ASIA Played there as well, that was my first concert. I won tickets for Aerosmith at kingswood from Q107, they were not done with mirrors like they claimed.
Was this show in addition to Mahjor's "Toronto Rocks" gig at CityTV? I don't recall it at all.
It was a few years before
Toronto Rocks premiered in early 1984. I want to say February or March. If I recall correctly, the first video they played on the first show was Karma Chameleon.
It didn't take long before I got tired of seeing the same videos day after day so I tuned out after a couple of months.
Can you get Moses Zimers the Originals, and Christopher Wards original late night Music Video program? And you need the Buffalo 29 Carvel Ice cream commercial with old smokey.
The all-night City Limits weekend marathon was a staple back in the day.
I was a kid when City Limits was on but I used to record the whole show, both Friday and Saturday nights and watch them the next day. Much to the chagrin of my out of touch parents.
What? No Fudgie the Whale?
ABSOLUTELY Awesome Man!!! These have come out so sweet!
