Man has been using technology since the dawn of time. Computers are culimonation of many different scientific fields and hundreds of years of advancement. So to complain that we have too much technology is just, well, not very specific or interesting and comes from the mind of a layman with no appreciation for scientific thought. The actual problem is we have too many humans.

Even though it's not Dennis De young, the other guy (I hear) does a great job with this song, which is included in the song list for the 23/24 tour. Heck yea it is! I remember this one as a kid. I was a science fiction geek and still am, but realize it's not fiction like Elon Musk recently stated. Where did all this knowledge come from that created the 21st century future arriving? We didn't actually realistically expect to see high tech AI driven robots in the real world like we're beginning to see. The first driverless robo taxi without operator controls is set to be announced on August 8th this year. Elon Musk is the super star CEO of all time, but not sure if gonna save America and keep the world a human one that represents the will of the people for it's a global corporation that oversees all the companies, universities, countries, and everyone who was blessed to have great jobs. For the rest of us who speak truth instead of going along with whatever plan, there's not this greatest country we thought was our country for it's the global corporation of WEF.

To help people that are reading, this song ( whole album, actually) tells a story!
To sum it up, Mr. Roboto is about a famous rock musician named Kilroy who get thrown into prison because in the future America is a dystopia run by fascist tyrants, who outlaw and ban music. This was bad news for Kilroy, because this meant he was to be thrown into prison. Honestly I'm sure there is more to this story but thats the overgeneralised plot. The prison is completely run by, well, robots.
Kilroy, (Little fun fact about the album, the title is called "Kilroy Was Here" which in this case has two meanings. One meaning is the reference to one of the first ever "memes" It was used back in the 1940's by soldiers of WWII. The other meaning is of course, referring to our protagonist of this rock opera, Kilroy.) Kilroy knocks out a robot guard when it enters his prison cell, and disguises himself inside the robot. (Hence "Somewhere to hide") Then he manages to escape prison in the suit. Thats why he keeps saying "Thank you" over and over. Thats the story of Mr. Roboto. Its not the whole Kilroy Was Here album, but its a piece of it.

They are genius. See them in concert, with Loverboy and R-E-O.
Just did. Broke me, not paid for my comment - just a 30 ish year old with tales from my father. R-E-O ditch the wig, so bad.
IMO Styx just pushed their way into my top 5 bands of all time. Avengenge 7 fold, after seeing Disturbed and System of a Down fail. Same theater mind you, prefer the grass area. Avenenge 7n fold did way better than either, and even better than Ozy. Korn and dude with a missing rib are also in my top 5 due to failed Oz fests (not to confuse him with a woman that probably had two xx and one y chromosone - something you probably didn't know about her - Yeah Marilon Monroe was 2/3rds man and 1/3rd woman - look it up. actually find it funny that the "woman" figure of history was more man than woman - so look it up.). Saw Styx from the seats though, hate that. Been in front two rows for Carrie three times. But at whitewater, rather be on the grass. Even if the cheap seats, better.
Carrie, was the most talented artist I had ever seen - until saw Styx in person. 70 year olds should never move that way, but so happy I saw them do so against all odds. Best band I have ever seen in person, thank them for that. I will die knowing I saw something I never should have. Bands today, are not the bands of yesteryear. and that is bad to say, but also great. Styx did something not even bands today can do.

My friends back in the day used to listen to this song laughing thinking it was a gimmick song. I used to tell them there's a much deeper meaning to the song and they'd just look at me dumbfounded. Finally many many years later someone took the lyrics and created a show worthy of every single award out there in Cinema. Half way through the first season, I smiled, knowing that someone understood the song like I did. I've commented for years on Mr Robot threads that the song tells the whole base story and knew with a certainty that it would be played in the finale. Then I heard it and the whole circle was complete. Goodbye friend, I love you Elliot.

Not to discount the show or your experience/interpretation but idk if I'd call it intentional genius. In the context of the Kilroy album, the song is just a plot point. The protagonist disguises himself as a robot and that allows the rest of the story to progress. It honestly doesn't even make too much sense in that context but whatever.
If someone reworked it to make it make sense as a narrative, good on them!
