Out of Warranty BMW X5 40e PHEV Charging Failure

Just my luck, just after 1 year out of my warranty the external charging failed.... Awwww
Unfortunately for me the extended 2 years warranty from BMW does not cover other parts of the hybrid system except for the hybrid battery only. :(

Warranty coverage now have alot of fine lines that does not cover alot of things. If we ask too much ppl will think we are a fussy customer but it's this type of situation made us a fussy customer.

I had the same problem. But it has been fixed already. The issue was the small battery inside the car. BMW replaced it and updated the car software, and it is now as good as new.

The BMW 40e is the worst! i have one sitting in my driveway 2017. This is my 6th x5. The first hybrid one. Its terrible! Currantly have a 2017 X5 35i and a 2020 X7 50I. I dont even think ill ever get the 40e fixed. Only idea i have is maybe getting a tesla motor and batter from the junkyard and turn it into full electric car. A fun project. Since the x5 and x7 i have is amazing!
