- This video is the culmination of over a month and countless of hours of research and editing, and is intended to act as an archive of osu! players' most notable achievements throughout the game's 14 year history.
The ppv2 system, introduced in January 2014, was designed to quantify how "impressive" a score is by considering a multitude of factors such as speed, precision, accuracy, and reading. Despite its imperfections, the current November 2021 rework is the closest there is to truly measuring these skills.
Only a handful of notable scores prior to ppv2 have been thoroughly documented. For the first half of osu!'s lifetime, the game had a relatively small community, and score-posting was a niche hobby reserved for the most committed of users. This video hopes to provide a glimpse into how top players have improved over time, as well as shed some light on the game's history before the modern age of ppv2.
All pp values are calculated based on the current November 2021 rework.
The entire submitted scores database was provided to me by Ameo (osu.ppy.sh/users/Ameo). THANK YOU!!!!! Without it, this project would have not been possible :)
In many cases, scores were either overwritten or deleted (Cookiezi ban). For these, I used the wayback machine and the Cookiezi Replays youtube channel to do my search.

A few things:
- First of all, thanks for watching! I've been working on this project for a little over a month now, and it's exciting to finally release it
- Huge thanks to Ameo from osu!track for providing me with the complete submitted scores database. Without him, this project would have taken way longer and contain far more inaccuracies
- A few of the plays between 2010-2013 may not be 100% accurate for a few reasons: (1) Cookiezi and Niko's ban meant all of their scores were wiped, so I had to rely on Wayback Machine and TH-cam videos to find their scores. (2) Some old players (notably WWW) have overwritten most of their notable scores from that era since then. Due to the lack of archival information, there may have been scores that went under the radar because I can't account for this variable.
- I wish I could put a chapter for every month, but it literally exceeds the TH-cam limit of 100. Hopefully yearly chapters aren't too inconvenient for your viewing pleasure.
- Had to edit out audio for Cookiezi and Niko's Freestyler plays due to copyright (vid blocked worldwide)

you can get most skins by looking up osu skins compendium, fartownik has a forum post with a bunch of skins, not nearly all though

So Shige got the first 300, 400, 500 and 600 by current metrics.
He lost the title of first 700 to Rafis, but instead got an earlier first 800 and a 900 in September 2016. First 1000 didn't happen until nearly 3 years later.
Now that's a legacy.
He was extremely ahead of his time, truly a beast of a player

Also Ed 100% deserved that score, it took him around 2.5 years just to beat that pp score. This score was way ahead of it’s time based on his skill level.

Snuck in kegare naki yume in September after karthy's honesty play lol. Also sad that it isn't 900 now, I think aim diffspikes may have been nerfed a bit too much. Stuff like Uta HR with 99+ is a play that should be worth 900 and it isn't even close now unless you get absurd acc.

His Wayback page shows he was #126 global in Feb 2010. Problem is he made is account in Nov 2008, so who knows if it's his peak.

The oddest thing is that when the oldest of these were set they likely weren't seen as insane feats of skill because that wasn't really what was trying to be accomplished. People were just farming score.
not true people were going for good scores way before pp, for example the first 200pp play on night of nights wasnt a mere score farm, it was still a score that was pushing the limits, people usually started going for cool #1s if they didnt go for score, cookiezi and wolf went for a lot of hdhr scores for the play and not ranked score

This should be a perfect example for new players bruh dont focus completely on pp. KEEP IN MIND it took top players 10+ years to get to this point so you should try to improve slowly and even if u see some random 6 digit whos better than you never give up! Because what took years for previous players to achieve!
You are actually right, I intend to keep the grind on until I reach my goal even if it takes me years, well, of course as a hobby.
