You’ve earned a sub 😊 Been a diver for decades, so my interest is mostly in watching you crush (sorry, I mean test) dive watches/dive computers, but hell, anything is interesting to test!
I also love your presentation, showing the various depth zones is pretty neat, maybe tag some notable depths as they pass, ie deepest free dive (214m), deepest scuba dive (332.35m), Bismark wreck (4691m), Titanic (3800m), Challenger deep (10791m) etc etc…
One thing I’d like to see is a good slomo camera recording the failures/implosions, maybe that’s one for the future of this channel really takes off.

Higher pressure allows sound to be louder since higher pressure leads to higher temperature. Higher temperature allows molecules to interact with each other faster, thus a louder (and more than likely faster) sound. Physics!

Loos to me (as an armchair guess) that both phones shut down (and other things like volume being changed) is probably due to the buttons being depressed due to the flexible case being pressed in. Same reason for the screens failing a little later. But once the bag was compromised the screens stopped failing, probably due to the internal and external prussures being equalized. I wonder if there was any damage done to the lithium flat-pack cell getting a sudden shock from the pressure equalization when the bag failed.

    • @daviddavidson2357
      @daviddavidson2357 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@TheDropzoneChannel Yeah, I doubt it would work today, this was back when phones operated on 2g, so the frequency was much lower, 900MHz at it's lowest (and some phones would just up the power and lower the frequency when a tower couldn't be detected) so that would definitely penetrate a few metres of water. As I said, it couldn't have been deeper than 15m, it was a wreck where the keel is about 15m deep, so we could have been 8-12m deep, maybe even shallower. 4g and 5g frequencies definitely wouldn't go that deep, but 2g would, just barely, enough to make a phone ring but probably not much else.
I did get taken on what was basically a 'ride along' on one of their (safe(r)) commercial dives (shallow depth, high tidal currents, but flowing inland rather than out to sea (so if I got out of the area of the structure and caught by the current, it wouldn't be a huge search and rescue operation, just a move the boat over to me and yell at me for a bit) and a commercial diver and DM watching over me like a hawk) and we used half head helmets and two way radios for that. I didn't get a good look at the transmitter on the RIB (Zodiac) though there wasn't a huge antenna and everything fitted to us was fairly compact which means it probably used VHF if not UHF, (I was told to not to speak unless it was an emergency and just listen), though radios do work underwater, but there was a fair amount of distortion at the 15 or so metres we went down to (which is why I was told to not speak unless I was in trouble as even though it was a safer commercial dive, I was the dead weight so to speak and one diver was almost entirely working on keeping an eye on me) so we could check on some cables near a generator. I've no idea if doing such a dive would even be possible with today's safety regulations, though after asking if I could tag along I was just told something along the lines of "Yes, so long as you don't ass around and do exactly what you're told to do"
tl;dr is that those radio frequencies may penetrate water to that depth, water doesn't block it out like a perfect shield, just causes losses, I assume there was a tower near to where we were diving and the lower 2g frequencies helped with it too, we may have been shallower than I remember though it was still >5m underwater, maybe double that or more. I wish I'd logged the depth at the time, but it was a bit of a wtf moment and I was 17.
I wish I'd gone into a diving career, but got run over not long after that, which kind of knocked me off peak physical performance.

    • @TheDropzoneChannel
      @TheDropzoneChannel  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Sorry to hear that... I've worked with commercial divers before on many projects. It's definitely a very exciting but high risk career choice. Like you said, you need to be at your peak, mentally and physically. They're in a totally different league. @@daviddavidson2357

      @@TheDropzoneChannel Ok, I got a list:
      1. Lightbulbs...Different types...if you could rig a waterproof battery system so they could run until implosion...that would be cool...some of the smaller, thicker bulbs might last a while. (Guess)
      2. Small air flask, something that will squish when the pressure hits it. If you could pressurize the inside of the flask to a couple atmospheres, that might prove exciting when it pops.
      3. Aluminum foil squished into a ball...not super compressed but in a ball and see if it reduces in size under pressure, and more interestingly, if it expands afterwards.
      4. Something organic, like an apple, or an orange. Grapefruit might be impressive...you could do 2 or 3 maybe more vids on fruit alone. LOL
      5. Sponge...the natural ones and a synthetic one. Bet you they might compress interestingly (The natural ones for sure).
      6. Ice cube? How much pressure could an ice cube take before it shatters...they are fairly dense...that might be interesting.
These are just the ones off the top of my head...the ones that squish impressively or explode will be more popular.
      Good Luck :)

Astonished that such an amazing channel only has a handful of subscribers.
Also a pop can would be interesting to see. You already did a beer bottle; it would be fun to compare glass to aluminum (or plastic! )
Edit- for Easter you should do some peeps. 😂

Thanks! I'll add peeps to the list. Coke pop can vs plastic bottle vs classic glass bottle?

@@TheDropzoneChannel assuming the can survives, a taste test would be appreciated!

the music playing on the phone was a nice touch. haha i guess the bag wasnt rated for 6k meters, safe to say now.
    any chance we could see:
    -a dog toy
    -can of beans
    -sun screen
    -snowglobe
-basically anything you can by in a dollar store
    -different candies
thanks the great work. the video is lots of fun

Thanks! Those are on the list. For candies I was going to do skittles and m&ms to test out the macro lens and maybe a jawbreaker

How do you think they're gonna get a camera man down in the mightnight zone of the ocean anyways?

I guess I could charter a deep ocean research vessel and go for a sail out to the middle of the ocean but I'm not sure if the economics would work out@@julienweems6166

Lol. Yes, they very obviously are different. However, what happens in a pressure chamber is exactly what would happen under the waves. What do you expect the guy to do? These videos aren't clickbait.

IP code indicates level of protection physical material (first digit) and the level against water contamination (second digit). The higher the numbers, the more protected, but more expensive and more difficult to fix.
