I think adult koreans are shy to admit they like popular idol music since it's regarded as niche music everywhere including Korea.. N koreans are very shy in nature... Where as international audience are very bold to enjoy n admit wat they like... Even in some korean public interviews I saw many 40/50+ age koreans know everything about bts n enjoy them very much n able to keep up the basic news of bts etc... N also I get if those two adult haven't been listening to music last couple of weeks than I get it... But if u listen to music last few weeks any day all the top song on any chart was butter if u don't like butter or bts or idol music or don't care its ok.. But U at least know there's a new bts song in bright yellow color visible to the eye at #1..koreans should come over those stigma.. Non koreans r fighting to eliminate those stigma for koreans.. N here they r feeling shy. .. Also I think Japan n other Asian countries are more prouder than some koreans... Here in our country people used to hate Asian looking people n has very big stigma if u like them it's heavily critisized... But now every body loves them n praised n all the biggest celebrity with all 50m 60m followers always keep upto date with their content n shared to their followers n don't even clout chase but respect them

Also I think the area n people they choose to interview is also a case I think... Since one of the members of this channel is a big bang n yg stan... When they interview BP they got all yg stans to interview... Watching that interview u would think that BP is even bigger than IU... Anyway I like this channel this very much .. It's good for time pass... Also I think there needs to come up a new channel with similar contents so that this channel can also upgrade it's content quality...

I'm really anxious about the results. While BTS do have a HUGE fanbase outside of Korea and internationally, they're really popular in Korea too. They sell stadiums out within minutes and win thousands of awards as armies support them. But i have a feeling that many people will say that they're overrated or that they don't like them just because they're popular. Popularity really bugs some people. What is widely loved is also widely critisized, sometimes for few reasons

    • @mxm1337
      @mxm1337 3 ปีที่แล้ว +100

*ITS VERY LONG READ AT YOUR OWN RISK*
      People get bored too
We army would obviously like to see bts everywhere but it's not the with people who aren't fans
      They are not necessarily antis
Its just overwhelming to hear the same name over and over again
      It's like with advertisements
When you are on TH-cam or watching a drama on certain apps then an ad just pops up
Its fine the first but sometimes it goes on and on if its different ads its fine but when it's the same thing you just feel disgusted/annoyed/headache
It could be a super nice product but just because it was shown too much hence over marketing and overwhelming side effects
It has to do with marketing and psychology at the same time
Over marketing any product is the same as negative marketing
      People like changes... innovations
So sometimes doing ad for products or services they would film different types so as to not cause boredom to the target market
Now you can say that BTS are people human beings they are making achievements etc... from us army who are fans that is true... from many Korean... in a patriotic way... it's true... however if you put emotions aside think from a business point of view BTS is classified as product/services... they are selling music which are products/services... just like any idol actors or artists
Like painters selling art... it's a beautifying way to say it... but in the business world they are just selling products...
BTS achievements are driving their business values
The point is you know many artists specifically in the west they would cause controversies whether good or bad to stay in the limelight just to keep people attention on them... to notice them... but if the same person is shown everyday on the news you would be bored to death to the point of hating, you would be like "not again"
BTS however doesn't need controversies... they are literally everywhere without doing anything... whether achievements or just doing nothing... which is both good and bad
Even without them doing anything... they can break records while for army its cute... it's not for everyone
Bts being everywhere can cause different emotions
      Pride
      Boredom
      Hate
None of which is caused by a good or bad character... its just psychological thing
It can lead to new fan because of interest attraction while for others it can cause a headache to hear the same thing over and over again
These people doesn't need to be attacked by others for not being able to love bts... its just psychology
      *SORRY THAT WAS VERY LONG*

@@naziatislam1149 I honestly I feel like that would have been more of a western thing “to think bts is so overacted” and what not cuz I feel like to Koreans even if they are not particularly an ARMY they know how much bts have done for the popularity of their country and wouldn’t really have a problem with that. I feel like I would see that stuff more from like western people because to them technically they don’t really have a reason to be appreciative towards bts so they find them “overrated. Idk if what I wrote makes sense I hope it does😅

    • @mxm1337
      @mxm1337 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@naziatislam1149 its the with everything sometimes even when you like something for example a song you would get bored if you listen to too much
I remember with blood sweat and tears when it came out I listen to it on repeat 24/7 a week whether it reaction video or just listening to it... I listened to only this song a classic one for me back then... after that even though I loved it I couldn't listen to it anymore... so I stopped totally for a month then only listen to it once in while now but it's still among my top 10 bts songs
I never dare to listen to any song as I did with it... for fear of making the same mistake again...

@@eehyetti I mean, girl groups create music better suited for easy listening and passive listening. The songs are catchy and the choreography is easily emulated. However, I don't think it's fair to say girl groups are all childish and unoriginal. If you don't like the music, that's fine, but they know how to make an addictive pop song so we should give them credit where credit is due. That fits the average korean sensibility too. They prefer light hearted songs over intense songs. That's why iKONs best selling song in Korea is Love Senerio and not their hiphop songs. Boy groups, tend to make music that is much more intense and not as easy to just play over the speakers in a shop or restaurant.

Yeah, if you can keep up with updates accounts of Taehyung. It's common to see him trending on naver for anything and sometimes not in the music part but in the general news. Also, his achievements are always on tv news like the ones of Sweet Night or the Burj Khalifa birthday present.
Another comment here mention youquiz and well, at that time it was like a confirmation of his popularity for people that can't see this things regularly of Tae because, at that time, after bts, Tae was the most commented topic. The reason was the way he talks about his dad, that strike a chord with koreans cause his dad was supportive of him and that made Tae thinks that he want to be like his dad (I read comments from older people saying that it's their dream their sons talk like that about them 🥲).
So I think his popularity in Korea comes before this and it's for a lot of factors like his voice, his music (all of his soundcloud songs were used in tv to the point that people thought 4 o clock was actually the ost of a program), his beauty, that is like exotic there and his manners (one time he was voted by reporters as the most humble and respectful idol)
Namjoon has always been recongnized since the UN speech.

That guy in the brown shirt was me before I knew BTS. I could only name RM and V. RM was the first one I knew cause I saw them from a red carpet interview and I remember liking how he talked lol and obvi he was the one fluent in English. And then after the interview, I saw their performance and the first member that caught my eyes was V. His deep voice stood out the most for me and at the same time I was blown away by his visuals. I remember I kept going back to the same videos and I would replay his parts cause I was just so into it and blown away. It kinda took me a while but eventually I was like let me search them up and all their works and now I'm a fan.

There are so MANY idol groups popping out every day in Korea, it is hard for the general public to differentiate one idol group from another. Also idol music is mostly consumed by teenagers in Korea so adults dont know too much about each idol group. The fact that they all know the name, BTS, is huge. That means BTS at least made it. If you ask them about other idol groups, they probably dont even know the group name

the only people that hate on BTS are the people who haven't bothered to actual watch their content....there is so much it takes years to catch up if you are just getting to know them...it was wings album when I came across other asian groups dancing on the streets in SK, bst and not today and finally after watching them on repeat I was like I need to see who they are dancing to and how it compares to the real people...I must admit within 30 minutes I was hooked on one guy who ended up being Jimin, his dance was just something else that touched my soul and then I got to know the other members and loved them too and proceeded to buy all their albums...and then slowly I made my way through all their content from 2013 youtube/vlive/dvd/...it took YEARS to catch up, and like 6 months later of first finding them they were winning their first billboard social award. It's the men themselves whom I grew to love and they taught me self love, obviously. These are wonderful talented people who make amazing music and Ive loved watching their journey and how just by doing what they do they've changed millions of lives for the better.

Korean is lucky to have BTS. They are promoting korea to the world. It brings goodwill and contributes to your socioeconomic growth, and well cultural diversity & advancement to your country South Korea. BTS united, spread love, unity and harmony in their unique skills and world class performance that surpasses all k pop group. BTS is a living symbol of universal love. They exudes humility over triumph. i am not Korean and i am 56 y/old and i came across BTS because of my daughter and nieces. At first I could not understand why they are so fascinated to BTS, spending time, effort , and money. Due to pandemic, i was able to watch them in you tube, since then i learned about them, their songs, their story, journey, and triumph. Now i understand my daughter...and glad BTS had touched many lives. And I am glued admiring the BTS and the army.Korean must be happy and proud they have BTS. They not only promote your country, talent, and culture but also they contribute a percentage to your country, South Korea.BTS earned the respect of not only world entertainment circles but people of all ages, gender, races across different cultures. It's so ironic that ordinary Koreans do not recognize BTS that much probably bec. BTS are not exposed to local TV shows unlike other idols & given the history that they were not preferred bec their agency didn't have that much clout in the industry when they started. But it's a good thing that their Ministry of Culture and Arts has recognized their cultural and economic contributions to their country.

I want to point out some things:
This is my opinion based on what i research or saw on article or experience from some intl. fans living in korea
    1. Idols groups or band are not totally preferred in sk. They love ballad/trot. In groups, girls are more preferrable than boys but boys have bigger size of fandom.
    2. The one girl that said bts is idol group but also “unique in musical style”. most of bts songs are not totally upbeat or onomatopheic sounds like how most people want especially young and teens(more on party vibes and vulgar lyrics that talks about relationship, betrayal or nasty things)Bts songs are more sentimental and relatable if you listen to Music not just the melody or beat. Ofc. The no.1 strength of them that always being ignored “Lyrics”.
    3. Based on streaming stats and survey of diff. Korean companies Fans of bts in sk are more in their 20’s or 30’s. You saw how powerful they are in social media but i want to say that it’s just a HALF some of them are inactive, not into socmed or silent fan of Bts

People also forget the fact that BTS do have casual listeners (like they are not really passionated to show their love for BTS, but they will tune in once BTS drops new music.) I don’t know the debate about GP & fans support under this comment section. Anyways, people know them & listen to their music, BTS is actually doing well in SK, it’s unnecessary for all K citizens to appreciate their music & achievements…people are busy! Having something to deal with in their own life. Just keep on supporting BTS, it’s not that important how people think of BTS…GP never made who they are today, it’s fans…

I think what is happening in this comment section is fans’ allowing their personal responses (to the people in the video) cloud their inability to see “all perspectives”.
If David and Danny were in America/or another western country, asking natives for their opinions about their own countries’ pop stars, I’m sure they would’ve got the same kind of responses.
Even some international, non Asian K-Pop stans will admit to not being thoroughly knowledgeable of western pop artists because they’re not fans.
