Unbelievable: This is just a piece of history. Buffy is so true and goes so deep - just look and listen with open mind and heart. I can listen to this all day long for years.
so many years later and buffy sainte-marie's songs still invoke such powerful emotions. so much love and respect.
Buffy St. Marie's My Country performance is a national treasure.
I've wanted for decades to see this episode in its totality; thank you so much for posting!
Every time I hear Buffy sing Buried My Heart and Little Wheel Spin and Spin, I try but find it impossible not to sob. Whole body shakes with grief and rage. Sure gets in the way of singing along!
Same here, Brian. Makes me sob with rage and grief too. Love and respect Buffy so much. Wish I had known her.
@@rogerherbst6978 She's still around. They didn't sing her big one against war though. Was it written yet? "Universal Soldier".
Nice bit of Americana. Lovely upload. Much love from Sweden.
🦅🦅🦅 OMG ... What a Force of Nature Buffy is ... no wonder the powers that be in the record industry wanted t silence her voice .... her Welcome Emigrante song is so totally appropriate today 3-21-21 as always .... She’s TOTALLY A FORCE OF NATURE... alive and well singing in Canada even till today..... the Indian children were kidnapped and sent away to boarding schools “far away”. She’s majestic🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
I was a tennager and bou G jt evety one of Buffy Sainte Marie's albums. I treasured them. I still play them and sing em all the time.❤ 60 years ago!
I had read she plays the mouth bow. I thought I would not like it but now that I have heard it I was wrong. It sounds very good and unusual too. Thank you for posting this performance
I'm so glad this show exists, I've been a fan of both of them for years and it's so great to hear them sing together. This episode introduced me to the mouth bow, and I ended up building one myself and I really enjoy it, so thanks for that.
Buffy's way with lyrics frames things so beautifully, I've never thought of being so proud of America and wanting to share it
I don't think her songs inspire much pride in American policy frankly.
Excellent!! Beautiful performances!❤
She's a genius!!!
Wow what a gem! What an interesting little piece of film! Truly fantastic great channel

OMG - Pete - you were such a Pioneer of your art. X
Two precious unique inspired artists. Thank you for posting this video.
Bluffy was unique, all right, but not in a good way.
@@ValleyoftheRogue Even if you are a 100% phoney baloney as the CBC has proven, you are still a great artist. Her song about welcoming immigrants is so pertinent to today's reality in the approaching Trump era. Boy, I'd like to do something not to nice to the new "border czar". OAC brought out the conflict between Human Rights Law, International law and American law. You can't always apply at the border to be considered a refugee. Pete Seegar singing "Big Muddy", another pertinent song certainly. Maybe, the discrmination against newly arriving Italians when they came gave Buffy a certain perspective that other "white" Americans don't have. Wasn't it great when Americans were progressive? There's a You Tube channel by NYTN that talks about the discrimination that Italian Americans faced over the decades when they came to the U.S.
Priceless. x
People ask what made me who I am today. Back in the 60s when most were listening to "I wanna hold your hand" or "Little deuce coupe", I discovered Buffy St.Marie, Dylan, etc. Kinda shaped my life.
My life too...still is!
*Love it! Fantastic...*
VERY NICE♥😎🎸🎵🎶🎵
Fucking chills, this is amazing.
Strange how Pete Seeger after listening to Buffys serious song of the white settlers cruelty to the Indians goes on to sing a song about calming a fussy baby. The subject about white oppression was too heavy for him to deal with and it’s still the same today. Had Buffy been truly Indian she would have been offended by Seegers casual disregard but no she goes on smiling and playing her tunes ,loving the spotlight.
Didn't age well in the end. Give her and team credit for carrying out the CON for as long as they did. You have to be an extreme narcissist to put your true family through that deception.
So sweet & cute!
I have to be reminded how recent the barbarities were and wonder sadly if the truths published 50 years ago will ever be generally admitted. Anyway the music is unsurpassed and brings tears to my old English eyes. (I know we have committed our own crimes and stupidities.)
Buffy St. Maris was not born in Canada, and definitely not a Canadian.
I know. The article I read claimed she was born in Mass. and is actually Sicilian/Italian with Welsh blood. She has been getting away with this cultural appropriation stuff for about 60 years.
I'm a genealogist who studies political history.... she's an asset to the deep state, maybe being recruited when at U of Mass.@@rayjr62
Or, maybe her daddy was already connected. They like to keep this sort of thing "in the family", after all.
My first teacher in Native culture, arts and music was a white Italian-English-American pretendian on Sesame Street. That's what colonialism looks like in the modern world. She perpetrated fraud. Remove all of her awards and make her pay back the prize money. The RCMP should open a file for Beverly Santamaria.
- Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
Anyone hit this version of cindy without the whole episode?
In 2020 things stay the same
Worse! Now, we've got packaged entertainers like Taylor Swift. I listened to CBC when Gordie Lightfoot died. I liked the show, but i don't consider him to be the greatest Canadian singer/songwriter. Buffy Ste-Marie was a pseudo-Canadian, i guess, so she's not the greatest either. I vote for Leonard Cohen and Gilles Vigneault.
18:49 😭😥😤😧
weird the way history books change history - was working in a high school where the text book studied the song "universal soldier" which they informed us was written by donavan and was about the vietnam war ! of course buffy wrote this song but history writers never let truth get in the way of their stories.
🍀
love the song he made up about burbing baby that seems like it's inspired by the gospel song children go where i send thee...
Still a good song. It lightens the mood after Buffy's song which is so angry and sad at the same time.
