That's a wonderful idea. One can look at Kampong Pelangi in downtown Malang city or Banjar Panglipuran in Bali. Both preserve their kampong as tourist attractions, Panglipuran also offer homestays for visitors that were wanting to feel how it feels like to stay in Balinese villages.
