I always used to be strangely fascinated by his work for unknown reasons, and for unknown reasons, this and the coming days without his inspiring presence will seem impossibly surreal to me. Like a reverse ghost, he appeared, did his magical thing and left us bewildered. I can't imagine anyone to fill this universe he created, no matter how much I try.
Only a Bowie fan could unearth something like this, I never heard this before! Amazing. My fave is when he did this on the GQ Awards where the audience reacted just like the Ziggy fans did, monumental.
It's a Jacques Brel song. Scott Walker recorded it in 1967 in English. David was a huge fan of both Scott and recorded other songs of both artists including Scott's Nite Flights. David also produced a documentary about Scott 30 Century Man.
What a beautiful voice, beautiful human being, beautiful artist. It's a sad song...but I know too, that his is a shining light spreading throughout, painting eternity and singing sounds beyond all boundaries. love you Bowie xxx
He came to love his life and came to know it was going to end. He talked about it quite a bit in interviews. I'm grateful he shared because I'm getting old now, and I see what he's talking about. Death is so real and we're not brought up to deal with it. Not me anyway.
so in America midnight special is when I fell for David ... I always looked at him as a amazing performer even when my brother told me to turn the TV off... my brother was an idiot and my brother is still an idiot .... always loved u David ....
Bowie lived to try and correct human mistakes like racism, homophobia and offered a world that EVERYONE deserves to determine their own future and not be suppressed. I will ALWAYS miss you Mr. Bowzie (no misspelling there). Peace and love to you all...Weirdo Bill.
+jo pipes since it's been 40+ years that I've seen every tour and The Elephant Man on Broadway, I simply can't mention him in past terms, he is and ALWAYS will be a part of my heart and soul
He did give us a goodbye with his album Blackstar, released on his birthday, it was undoubtedly his last gift to us... and "No Plan" was to be released to the general public 1 year after his passing and even now there's a new album that was released just recently with several songs not included in Blackstar
Even though I 'd rather listen to the live version from the Spiders from Mars in 1973. It's great too. Both versions have diferent interpretations ..Bowie rocks as usual!
Don't remember who's channel it's on, but he's trying to tell them that "it's a quiet song" really love that version the best, but this was wonderful also ! Thanx for posting
I suspect he sung flowers and leaves intentionally. But even if he never, he would have probably left it in. He liked "planned accidents" so much that it was the original title of "Lodger" :)
Yes I guess, he just sounds different, perhaps I am still in a slightly confused and dazed state after His passing, i never thought I would see the day.whats with the xmas thing at the end of the song

Love this version. RIP Bowie

Haha you could tell him there's an album called The Idiot by Iggy Pop which Bowie collab'd on. My bro is also an idiot.
Chills and tears all at the same time, thank you for posting.
Amazing!! Just david doing his usual staff

The body is temporary...the soul is eternal.
God Bless you David.

shocked
He never gave us a chance to say a proper goodbye, so we will carry a torch in his memory.
+jo pipes Yes we will, David forever......

Wow the ending is so Bowie
The Maestro has left the building.....

Good bye David. A great singer. Good bye.
Beautiful xx
I am pissed this isn't in the era 5 set. This is the best version
Bowie’s baritone had baritone
Don't remember who's channel it's on, but he's trying to tell them that "it's a quiet song" really love that version the best, but this was wonderful also ! Thanx for posting
El conde grande 😢 se extraña su talento ,dejó un gran vacío pero su música 🎶 para siempre
superbe chanson de Brel
Different version than Ziggy but this song is one on my fav and stay great cause Bowie sing it same like a God
Beautiful lyrics.
Tal vez no inventara nada pero da la sensación de que todo ya lo hizo antes Bowie....
The passing time😢
RIP hero ........ X
Very Nice! :)
deepest condolance
Goodbye
where did you even find this.. And what is that ending? Is this even live or a studio recording
❤️❤️❤️
Messed up the lyrics at 4:04 so he didn't release this one. It's great anyway.
I suspect he sung flowers and leaves intentionally. But even if he never, he would have probably left it in. He liked "planned accidents" so much that it was the original title of "Lodger" :)
now the "bowie faked his own death" videos are going viral.
💗💗💗🎶🎶♾
rip bowie
I prefer the Ziggy's version, honestly.
The recording on Bowie Live 1972 is much better.
My death...is a deathy death death.
Sigh.
what
Mio eroe ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Solo tuo? Questa è appropriazione indebita. :))))
Who played on this version?
VonHoganSchmidt it was recorded for Outside. It didn't make the final cut. So whoever played in that album.
Rest in peace Rod Stewart.
Clive Bindley He's clearly a Rod Stewart.
Rod Stewart ??? You have got to be kidding 😲
xD
I'ts been slowed down so bowie is singing lower!
Bowie could easily hit these low notes without tampering. He uses the deep croon in several other songs.
Tristezza
Is it me, or does this not quite sound like Dave?
+megaharben If Bowie, this belongs to Outside Tour Rehearsals.
+megaharben Definitely Bowie, but I'm wandering if this is playing slightly slow.
He's using that low register he got into from time to time. But yes, it's a definitely slower tempo. Love the instrumental backig.
I think the tape is slow. Which is OK but unusual nowerdays. The organ sounds unlike him, a bit too like the original versions.
I am not so sure that is Bowie singing.
+OpinionDay007 Of course it's him!
Yes I guess, he just sounds different, perhaps I am still in a slightly confused and dazed state after His passing, i never thought I would see the day.whats with the xmas thing at the end of the song
+OpinionDay007 That's definitely him. Don't let the deep baritone fool you, it's really him.
sure.
He could get into that low baritone voice very easily. Definitely him.
RIP Bowie!
