Mothers are the primary caregiver. It's scientifically documented that a mother's presence is incredibly imperative to a young child's development. Also, this video is about a MOTHER. of course nobody is talking about fathers in the military, but if this were about a father, I'd say the exact same thing - nobody has a right to go into the military when you have young children. These parents are fighting for their country and switching roles to make sure that their child is still taken care of. Now this child can connect with mom and dad. So I hope these parents keep up the good work.

I respect what she is doing, but people who are long time away from their family’s are hopefully not a role model for parenting. What these parents are doing as a profession is good for their country, but not for raising children.
I'm afraid I don't think so, at all. I admire that she is serving her country, but the early years in children's lives are very formative and therefore I believe mothers shouldn't stay away from their babies for such a long time. I left mine with my mother for a couple of days from time to time and as much as he loves granny, he wanted back to mommy again. To be honest, I find it sad that the boy had to spend one third of his life without both parents.

Then can we at least criticize what they do as they bomb children, hospitals, funerals, and with a more than 90% noncombatant rate of death(murder)? If we cant criticize the soldiers to disuade others from joining, we have to be able to demonize SOMETHING for sake and memory of the hundreds of thousands of innocent people we are killing with our military.

This saddens me that his parents leave him for extended amounts of time. Time goes by so fast with children....so many precious moments and experiences are missed
I can't believe the military is that desperate for personnel they started recruiting toddlers. Well actually I could see this coming. Some military experts were talking about geometric changes in the military. Perhaps the fact they behave so unpredictably gives them an element of surprise over enemy combatants which is why they are being recruited. They also pose smaller targets and are harder to hit. Plus a transport full of Toddlers weighs less and would save on military fuel expenditures.

I don’t get all these comments saying “mothers shouldn’t serve in the military while they have such a young child,”
“either have kids or serve, can’t do both”. The hell? And fathers don’t do the same? They leave their kids and have been for generations going off to war, and people chant “respect, respect.” but all of a sudden once it’s the mother that leaves, she’s “horrible” for leaving her son to serve her country???
And don’t spout that “primary caregiver” crap, it’s not like that kid is gonna be wandering around toothless and blind without his mother, he had his father with him, so really, wtf is the problem?
@@ducki yeah, I did care enough to respond so I can set you straight. Oh, and I'm not a boy either. And me being white doesn't have anything to do with it. Crazy feminist.
Either don't have children or don't go into the military.

After reading the comments I didn't realize how backwards and sexiest we still are in this country. Children need both parents. Don't give me crap that she carried the child, there are moms out there who go out clubbing and never love their baby. Just like there are piece of crap dad's too. These parents are fighting for their country and switching roles to make sure that their child is still taken care of. Now this child can connect with mom and dad. So I hope these parents keep up the good work.

Somewhere in this world there are kids who do not have the joy to run to their parents.

We can't just end all wars. Wars happened to end slavery, wars happened to end legal underaged marriage/sex.
Not all wars are unnecessary (yes there are still modern problems that could be solved through war, if it's the only option)

Someone's got such a brave, heroic mamma! She is a role model to all moms!
“When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn?”
Working a job where you don't have parents at home for the majority of your 3 year old child's life is not exemplary. Straight up Kool-Aid mentality.
A mother leaving her toddler for 9 months to go in the army is definitely not role model behavior

593 7 nah
@593 7 and a few numbers is better? 🤔
Nothing stops a determined toddler; NOTHING.
By running up to his mum, this little boy just did what came natural to him as any child would. In a small childs' mind, military rules do not exist and therefore he did not ignore them and the wording in the comment section is very inappropriate because it makes the child seem like he is at fault when he is not.
Either way military rules apply to the military, he didn't sign up to follow their rules

"Toddler ignores military rules"
Seriously, wtf ?
Bah, true!!! Toddlers aren't in the military, and they follow NO rules.
UnrealEd Addict. like they're gonna acctualy listen. to the rules
I'm in the military and trying to figure out what rule?
I think the rule that everyone is talking about is the one where you are not supposed to hug/kiss your family when you come back from deployment until the commanding officers releases you.
When I was a young kid I would cry and have nightmares when on of my parents were going away for just a weekend trip. Those first 6 or 7 years you want both your parents every single day. I can't imagine growing up without both my parents there it's just heart-breaking for a kid.
Hugs to those soldiers who didn't have any one welcoming them. ❤
