I used to do something similar to this and I always found the that having the audience clap destroys the best intentions of your performance. Good stick skills from the guys. Loved it!
They may have figured that the audience may decide to start clapping on their own so they decided to make sure they did it on 2 and 4 since an audience left to their own devices would have likely clapped on 1 and 3.

I don't get it. What did the stools do that they needed to be punished and beat like that? And then the audience chimes in supporting the beatings by clapping along!?!? And don't get me started on the wood on wood crime that's taking place by the wooden sticks hitting the wooden stools.
