Cardiff Queen Street railway station is a railway station serving the north and east of Central Cardiff, Wales. It is the fourth busiest railway station in Wales. Along with Cardiff Central, it is one of the two major hubs of the Valleys & Cardiff Local Routes local rail network. The station and its services are run by Transport for Wales. In 2014, a reconstruction of the station was completed in order to reduce bottlenecks. Two extra platforms were put in, taking the total number of platforms to 5.
It certainly does stand out! These 231s are extremely similar to GAs 745/755 even down to the seat covers! Soon the 150s will be gone too but it certainly is interesting to see how the stock in Wales has changed since I visited in 2020.

@StarlifeStudios I have seen at least 3 XC HST's every day this week 😂 and today I have seen 4. I can't help you with advice or were to spot them at 125mph but them go quick trough Ashchurch and quickish at the Sidings Hotel, York.
These old sprinter trains are tough old units 35 years old and still in front line service remember queen Street back in the 70/80s run down with the old 116 units the valleys network was so neglected so good to see so much investment on the network 🚆🏴
I went to central last year and so far, there hasn’t been much change since then. I try to mix up the stations I go to so I’m not always visiting the same ones every year. I will definitely visit Cardiff Central again, just not this year 😃
@@StarlifeStudios There can be some interesting trains at central, I got 2 tones from a HST, I seen 4 of them in 3 hours, the newly named NHS class 801 or 800 there
The Welsh Government have been insisting on the use of the Welsh language in announcements for years and this means the announcements are sometimes ridiculously long.

@@NQY-flyer the island line suffers from this kinda problem, a single bad delay causes a knock on effect
Common thing for the Cardiff Bay shuttle service for people to miss it at last second, but at least they don't have to wait that long for the next one

Hopefully Cardiff Queen Street will see electrification and new overhead wires erected. As well as new trains to replace the existing trains.

How do you get to film these? Do you just ask to go on the platform?
As long as there's no fare gates, you can do whatever you want until security kicks you out.
I feel bad for the Welsh, TFW put 1-3 carriages on main routes
