About the Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust launched the Jockey Club Age-friendly City Project in 2015 to respond to the challenges and opportunities brought by an aging population. The project, in collaboration with Lingnan University's Asia-Pacific Institute of Ageing Studies and gerontology research units of three local universities, has trained more than 2,600 "Age-friendly City Ambassadors" in all 18 districts of Hong Kong.
To expand the impact of the "Age-friendly City Ambassador Scheme," the Lingnan University professional support team trained over 600 people from 2022 to 2023 through the public educational "Age-friendly City Learning Hub" , enabling more stakeholders to become "Age-friendly City Ambassadors" . Ambassadors can develop in three stages from Level 1 to Level 3. These stages include training for "Age-friendly City Ambassadors," "Ambassador Interns," and "Ambassador Facilitator." The project has established 13 community practice cases covering the eight domains of the Age-friendly City, providing valuable and feasible solutions to cope with the challenges of an aging population in the future, contributing to the promotion of sustainable development in society.
