- My first cover using the Promars was "Are Friends Electric" Old Grey Whistle Test version almost eight years ago. Time now for the studio version with some small variations (I skipped some guitar sections, etc)

After years of being a synth pop junkie I just discovered this gem. Today, after listening to other versions for a couple of weeks, I wondered to myself “did DX5 ever cover this?”

Spooky, I recently covered this using Logic in an afternoon just because I wanted to practice it live using my own version of the backing track. I generally quantise electropop , but this song benefits from a loose performance as it wasn't originally sequenced.

Is neat, but missing notes. On the part, where other music you found "refrain" is fact, the sinth goes around a lot of octaves, and needed both hand to play. The effect is like fugue&toccata, and without that is so...weird, but still recognizable. Put your left hand on the synth deeper sounds, and fill up the spaces, following the bassline.
I have to play this every time I play my Jp4.

I record it track by track. I like the JP4 but not on my collection yet ;)
DX5 well I don’t have a Promars .. yet :) Enjoying a Mk1 Trident ATM
@@Bigsbeee Much envy ;) ;) . Promars dual VCO can be a bit limited (the second one just doubles the first, with the same waveform), but makes the sound fatter. Also, there are a square sub osc per VCO (2 per voice), so, in a certain way, you can use two different waveforms (square + selected) if switched on.
This is it. MiniMoog... Are Friends Electric .... Tube Way Army. No other synth did it that way. Don't tell me it is a Yamaha or Roland. :-)

I never understand why the studio version sinth sound was more beefy than the live version.
No live sounds the same as a studio version.
