  • Francois, Kosie and Kerstin responded to a black mamba call out in rural a area 100km north of Windhoek. The community members were busy collecting fire wood when they noticed a large black snake crawling up the chassis. Fortunately they had two vehicles and one group were able to drive to the nearest town to call for help. We responded swiftly and arrived with an hour.
Once we arrived we were taken to the spot by a small child and his uncle who were with the group earlier. We found the snake curled up on top of the fuel tank and took us 15 minutes to remove the snake safely!
We educated the community and safely released the snake afterwards!

Thanks man! The hex armor gloves are life savers.Would have been great if I could just have caught the snake without having to neck it

@@snakesofnamibia3371 Absolutely, I know that man and I know you're not a great fan of necking, but sometimes there's no better way of doin' it. Just good to know all are safe and healthy, including the snake of course ;-)

We have changed our protocols since the 2016 accident! 4 years without any incidents and we are planning a n keeping it that way. That was a big lesson for me.
