Considering the prices that are going up across the board, in Argentina. Paraguay is looking a lot better now.

If you want to venture into a wild business adventure into a frontier place where everything is to be done then Paraguay is for you. Otherwise if you are looking for an international metropolis with architecture, culture, nightlife, arts, walkable streets with public transportation etc. Buenos Aires is for you. With all due respect for Paraguay, there is honestly no comparison with Buenos Aires Argentina. They truly are in different leagues.

but paraguay is not interesting because of asuncion. nor is argentina only interesting because of BA.

Of course Paraguay is not "interesting", remember it's a post wars country with no plan Marshall or donations like Europe, South Corea or Taiwan got. Development was slow and late because of the Triple Alliance war for genocide.

Argentina has some of the best places in the world. The Patagonia is ridiculously nice. The glaciers. The Iguazu waterfalls. Buenos Aires is the most similar city to Paris in the world, with its differences, of course. Argentina suffered too many economic crises but BA was built and conceived so well 100 years ago, that it's incomparable to any other city in South America. I lived there for 4 years. Paraguay is growing a lot and doing very well lately but still has a very long way to go.

Some other disadvantages of Buenos Aires; the winter does get really cold. When I was there last time (June 2023), other expats told me it's very bureaucratical to get a tenancy agreement for an apartment there.

Just a couple years ago, I was considering a close proximity 3 flag plan in Paraguay, Uruguay and Brazil, but now a days, replacing Brazil with Argentina seems like a wiser change.

There are hundreds of thousands of paraguayan people living in Argentina for already decades, perhaps that's a good indicator.

Because Paraguay doesn't have hospitals for the poor. So, people would cross the border to any frontier with Argentina and have the babies for free in Argentina. Bolivians do the same. Argentina always felt pity for them and took care of them all not only for delivering their babies but for any health problem, expensive cancer treatments, organ transplants, etc. Nowadays Milei is changing that. All those children were automatically Argentinian from Bolivian and Paraguayan parents. Thus, those children had all the benefits they could get from Argentina. Paraguayan immigrants in Argentina work in construction and they are good workers. But many of them drink too much, Bolivian also drink a lot to the point there are many alcoholic Paraguayan and Bolivian immigrants in Argentina that drive under the influence and don't even have car insurance. And also, these immigrants move into bad neighborhoods where the police don't even go due to it being too dangerous. Inside those neighborhoods they get all the services but don't pay for it a penny. Its all free. Thats why they all move to Argentina. We hope Milei or a future government will deal with these issues. Its all paid by the taxpayers.

If you make a 7-figure income while living in Paraguay, and you have a second passport (a good passport) it makes no sense to keep the American passport or green card. You can beat 0% income tax.

The future of Argentina looks bright. I visit often and the food and culture is much better. Milei is turning things around. He going expand small nuclear reactors to provide abundant and cheap electricity. Argentina is getting it's house in order. I don't miss the swealtering heat of Paraguay when I'm in Argentina.

Milei is nowhere near close to putting Argentina on a good trajectory. Unless you're in Patagonia sweltering summer heat exists in Argentina too.

    • @Learned333

In my area temps range from 25 (-4) to 105 F (40) and humid. I'll take Asuncion, Paraguay's 35 (+1.5) to 95 F (35 C) any time. Benefits on both ends of the temperature spectrum.

The guest seems like someone who has plenty of currency to throw around. But Argentina is objectively, and even more so relative to incomes, VERY expensive. More so than many places in Spain and Portugual where incomes are 3-4x higher!

Maybe we should ask the elderly pensioners who live in Argentina how they feel about Milei and his supposed progress?
He has cut their pensions so much that they can no longer afford to live. If they protest, they are physically abused.

I'm surprised that of all the countries in S E Asia - that if the people are important - 2 of the friendliest are Cambodia & the Filipinos - not Vietnam or Malaysia ? --- And there is a lot of English even in Cambodia where they also use the USD ! I fail to see the use of English in Paraguay (?) or Argentina very much ? But I am old retired and looking more for comfort than adventure and have no need for business ventures ?!? --- I like the lower cost of living - with - the ease of visa requirements - in Cambodia for example - if over 55 and have some income - a very comfortable & affordable life can be had ! 🤔
