Depending on how you feel about body rust, check that as these are prone to rust. Cab corners, rockers and rear wheel wells especially. I replaced the intermediate steering shaft and ABS module which are common issues. 5.3L has been great with regular maintenance. Get the trans cooler if you’re going to tow. Good luck!
I have a 1999 5.3 Sierra got it with 223k miles I suggest a few things to look for: - fuel pump - water pump - EVAP canister - throttle bottle maintenance - transfer case - A/C blower motor and resistor
4 or 5 speed manual Trans is best and yeah I drove OTR for 16 years with a 18 speed trans

@@ConnerV you just slap a new motor in every 100,000 miles and you will have no problem for the first 300,000 miles
