Channellock wrenches now made in China?
มุมมอง 84111 หลายเดือนก่อน
Are Channellock combination wrenches now made in China? It appears the previous style of non-slip wrenches which were made in Taiwan may have been changed.

DIY Weekend Mechanic Toolbox Tour
มุมมอง 11Kปีที่แล้ว
I am not a mechanic but I enjoy taking care of my vehicles and using tools for automotive and other projects around the house and garage. If you do as well, you might enjoy seeing what tools I like and maybe something that you would like to get for your toolbox.

I really like Gearwrench and Tekton tools
I’m hopefully going to get one this week it’s only got 100k. What should I look out for and what issues could it have down the road?
Depending on how you feel about body rust, check that as these are prone to rust. Cab corners, rockers and rear wheel wells especially. I replaced the intermediate steering shaft and ABS module which are common issues. 5.3L has been great with regular maintenance. Get the trans cooler if you’re going to tow. Good luck!
I have a 1999 5.3 Sierra got it with 223k miles I suggest a few things to look for: - fuel pump - water pump - EVAP canister - throttle bottle maintenance - transfer case - A/C blower motor and resistor
Made in the USA or Taiwan for me
Using a washer on the blade mount bolt would be easier and a lot less cumbersome every time you want to do an adjustment. One time deal like a set and forget
Nice set up. I’ve grown fond of some Tekton tools.
Where do I get the adapter?
I got the low profile adapter from Amazon
How are these holding up for you? I bought the icon set, ( which I believe is the same manufacturer as that Dewalt you show), and the open end had a slight spread when it rounded a bolt. I’m glad I can take it to warranty, but saw the craftsman online and was looking around. Also, how deep does a bolt head or nut sit in that open end? Are the jaws fairly deep? Thanks
No complaints on these wrenches so far. On the open end I would say they are not extra deep at all. Just average depth at best. Haven’t abused the open ends on them at all yet. Wrenches are kind of short so I usually grab something longer if I have a stubborn fastener.
@@ellacolson4540 awesome. Thank you! I appreciate the info
@@ellacolson4540I don't think it rotates when it's on a fastener . That's because flipping the lever moves the pawl mechanism laterally inside. If it's on a fastener the pawl slides around the bezel, rather than the whole bezel kobing.
Should of got the 5.4 triton
I think he wants something that will actually get him from A to B 😂
@@ConnerV you just slap a new motor in every 100,000 miles and you will have no problem for the first 300,000 miles
@@cartersmith9433yikes 😂✌️
Super smart!!! Thank you for sharing
Great too see an average joe tool box tour. No crazy snap on addicts
We need to stop buying these iconic brands that are now being made in China. China is not our friend. Also from what I have seen the tolerances are sometimes off and lack quality.
I’m starting to buy snap on tools because everyone makes tools too cheap now
Thought channelock made Meadville
I think that is only their pliers made in Meadville.
Well I only buy Channellock for American made tools anyways.
Yes they do have some good USA made tools also!
@@ellacolson4540I think this may just be very old stock. I can't find this wrench set anywhere. But I have seen some hardware stores with photos of the beveled box ends and no v groove, in months or years past.
4 or 5 speed manual Trans is best and yeah I drove OTR for 16 years with a 18 speed trans
Their impact sockets not for ratchets
The V series tools are nice but they skip important sizes.
I have a mac that does the same thing, they are almost identical. Mac has the bolt holder in the ratcheting mechanism, and ofc the groove jaws
Yes I bought a few of the Mac ones to fill out this set (15, 16, 18). The Mac mechanism is smoother, plus the non slip open end and ring on the box end. Higher price of course, but better.
It’s a design “flaw”, although there’s no real loss of functionality in most cases since one is generally only trying to go one direction at the same time.
The only v series product I really want are the xxl with the 6 point offset lip box end and the flex head ratcheting box end.
Interesting idea, thanks! Not a lot of videos on the dash xd. Have you been happy with the 34”? I’m really struggling to pick a 34” for my gate or get a 42” and possible widen my gate. I like the idea of the deck coming past the wheels a little to get closer to my fence
Yes I have liked the 34” and overall size of the XD for getting through gates and into the garage. However, as you say there is not much trim room outside the tires. I do spend more time with the string trimmer but I was expecting that.
@@ellacolson4540 That's great to hear. I don't mind using my string trimmer too. I'm about 90% sure I want the 34" dash XD. I think it would be more than enough for my smaller(ish) yard and the small size would be best for storing in my garage (where any open space gets filled with something faster than you can blink). I will definitely use your height adjustment mod when the time comes. Have a good one.
Widen your gate
You should have shown them in a 17mm ratcheting wrench. That's their claim to fame for maximum stubby effect.
Cool set of tools, Brother!
Awesome, thank you for sharing!
Redundant impo.
And in doing so, making it no longer low profile lmfao
FACTS! People are dumb and think they’re genius
Hi
I'm not brand loyal. I'm a diy and use what works for me. I only use USA made and has a lifetime warranty.
I’m DIY, but only buy USA too.
Im a diy and a appliance repair technician and I buy anything that gets the job done USA and Taiwan though try avoid Chinese trash if possible
Love those kokens
I dont like 12 pt sockets. If I want strippers ill go to the strip club.
Nice set up. You have most of what a guy needs to get things done. Tekton is the new craftsman… which is what the name means in greek.
Those Dewalts are just like the Craftsman version . You cant go wrong with Tekton for their price. . USA Craftsman should have never went away
