    The saddest part about “The Green Mile” was the fact is was based around an actual case. George Stinney Jr. was only 14 years old when he was sentenced to death, which is why he acts so childish.
    And his skin is what kept him from being innocent in the eyes of the court. That’s why he says “I’m sorry for what I am”. He was black in a times of racism in the south.

    • @captaindestruction9332
      @captaindestruction9332 3 ปีที่แล้ว +72

      It was a combination of things. Racism, his size etc. but at least in the movie… hes not found in the best situation. I think even in modern times anyone found holding two bloody dead children would probably have a hard time getting out of trouble. Im not saying it wasn’t based on racism just that his situation didn’t help things.

    • @Mangawithcats
      @Mangawithcats 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I agree with the fact that racism was there but when he said "sorry for what I am" is because he was able to suck death out of peoples bodies and make them live again. He tried to do that for the children but didn't get there in time and that's how they found him at the crime scene. He was gifted by god. There is a scene where he brings back a dead mouse that was stepped on purpose by a horrible guard and everyone saw it happen. That's when they realized that he was falsely charged...... Also they didn't show that ending fully, that horrible guard hated him so much that he faked putting the spouge on his head and the main character died a horrific death. Tom Hanks character was a friend that listened to his stories and was the first to believe him.

Sometimes, people condemned to the chair would purposely dehydrate themselves to give less conductive fluids to work with the electrical currents. It's funny people are talking about The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas and The Green Mile making them cry...those movies didn't make me cry, they made me think.
      Not saying I didn't find them sad. Of course I found them sad! However, there was so much more going on than just the sadness. It made me think about all the layers to the tragedy in those stories.
      Kind of like a Jodi Picolut novel. Really, if they hadn't changed the ending to My Sister's Keeper, you'd know what I mean. Her books always end in a way that is morally ambiguous and thought provoking. In the film, though, it was just a tearjerker about a girl who died young of cancer...and I did cry at that one.

      Maybe it's just me, but Big Fish makes me cry with a smile. It's sad but it also has that wholesome whimsy to it.
      Wouldn't really recomment it for a video like this though. The ending to Big Fish is the perfect little bow that ties the whole thing together. You really need the context of the rest of the movie, not someone explaining the situation to you in a couple of sentences and then watching the scene in question. The scenes shown here are very immediately relatable out of context, Big Fish would lose impact without it.

    The last time I remember tearing up at a movie in theaters was Brian O'Conner's sendoff at the end of Fast & Furious 7 as "See You Again" played. Aside from the Uncanny Valley facial recreation (To be fair, it's nowhere near the worst I've seen), it was such a beautiful tribute to a great actor and genuine person. As someone who'd followed the series from the start and still felt raw about Paul Walker's death, I couldn't hold back, watching him drive off for the last time. If only the franchise had ended there...

    • @mr.osclasses5054
      @mr.osclasses5054 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@aadil2o12 First off, I agree on the innocent man part. I wasn't even going there because IT'S EXPLAINED IN THE MOVIE HERE.
      Secondly, and most important, no it is not cheaper to kill prisoners, not in the U.S. When prisoners have multiple legal appeals they can go through that take years to process through and make their way through the system, including the cost of time, staffing, etc. for the D.A.'s and assistants and all (all taxpayer funded). Then add in the normal costs of a prisoner in prison: food, healthcare, clothing, et al.
      Finally, factor in the cost of the execution (whether it be electric chair, lethal injection, lethal gas, hanging, or FIRING SQUAD...yes, three states still have that option!), which includes extra security being on for it, a doctor or M.E. being there to pronounce death and/or administer the chemicals, last meal for the prisoner (many places have limited it to like $100 now), and who knows what else.
      It costs a significantly less amount to leave a prisoner in jail for the rest of their lives than it does to go through actually executing them. It has been run through by multiple states, multiple universities have either had students or faculty do peer reviewed cost analyses for this...it's been put through all the steps to prove its accuracy, and it is the case. I don't know where you have the thought that it doesn't other than possibly not knowing all that goes into actually executing someone via the U.S. legal system, but there you go. It isn't a full run through as I am not someone who is involved, but I have read and studied this to a degree while becoming a history teacher...ya know, someone who needs to know how the government runs to explain it to students.
      I'd be happy to read up on it more and debate further, but it's pretty clear you've done no research and think that once someone is sentenced to death they just go and get executed immediately, so...

    Koreans enjoy emotional dramas. I remember making a port visit while in the Navy back in 1980. I went to a Korean theater to watch “The Champ” and in the final scene where Ricky Schroeder is bawling over his dad’s death, there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience.

    I watched Marley and Me about 3-4 months after my 1st dog died and it always gets to me. It's the most accurate movie about dogs being family.

      That and the scene where Ryan's Mom sees the officer and chaplin. Plus the fact that we the audience know they were delivering news about 3 of her sons at the same time.

    My childhood dog passed away just over a year ago today. I don't think I can ever watch Marley and Me again now that I've experienced the movie on a personal level. I bawled my eyes out at the ending clip.

    Re: Marley & Me, I had 4 dogs throughout my life that eventually died, one was hit by a truck, it was pretty hard to take each time. I had a 5th dog who lives with my Aunt now, he's 7 years old. My apartment doesn't allow dogs so now I have a 4 year old cat named Lulu.😻

    Ahhh The Green Miles. Biggest tear-jerker. I cried my ass off watching it and still teamed up watching the scene in this clip.

    OMG they should have reacted to “The boy in the striped pajamas” towards the end scene where the boy goes inside and both go into the “pit” place… and the mom finds the clothes by the fence
