Remove the Your Browser is Managed by Your Organization Message in the Google Chrome Settings

- If you ever go into your Google Chrome settings and see a message on the top of each settings page that says "Your Browser is Managed by Your Organization", you might be wondering how that got there or how to get rid of it. There is a chance it could have been placed there by your work IT department, something you downloaded or even a setting you changed while messing around with your browser. Regardless of the reason, its usually pretty easy to get rid of with a few simple steps.
Here are the notes from the video.
chrome://policy/
chrome://flags/#show-managed-ui
Look for Show managed UI for managed users and disable it
If it's not there, then open Regedit and navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome
Then try to delete the policy or the Chrome folder. Just be aware that if you delete the folder, it will delete all the policies that were assigned.
Here is a writeup of the process on our website.

Dude I can't thank you enough. I spent 2 hours trying to fix this before finding your video. No more bing redirects!
Did it remove the managed by your organisation ?
Same bro, I spent my whole morning trying to fix it until I found the video
Duddeee! You're such a legend! This has been bugging me for such a long time! I followed your method and that "Managed by your Organization" disappeared! Thank you so much for your help!
You don’t understand how much this helped. I panicked when I saw this message along with an installed extension on edge (I never use edge so it’s been there for years) that contained malware. Malwarebytes could get rid of the files but it was persistent, utilizing the force install policy on both browsers to do who knows what silently. Of course being browser policies no antivirus would have ever caught it.
This video is a year old and it still works. Thank you so much! Nothing else I did worked to remove this. I am forever grateful💜
How, I'm so dumb?
@@JaT4252 No, you're not 🤗. What are you confused about? I tried this and it worked for a period of time, but it didn't stay working for long😓. So I'll need to get a virus software one way or another. But if you need some help understanding the steps I can try to explain it better.
@@MusicIsMyName96 Thanks...
This needs to get shared everywhere seriously I was looking everywhere for a solution! Thank you so much!
You're an absolute star! This has been bothering me for ages and you have fixed it for me! Thanks so much.
Genuinely resolved my issue immediately after ages of trying. Thank you very much. Extensions can be a pain
I don't think you understand how much of an impact you've had on others lives. You are a f*cking legend. I've been panicking for like 2 weeks all because chrome wanted to update and extensions were added.
Thank you soo much!! I had a hijacker or a hacker situation.. someone has managed my chrome like that and changed google with some other unknown suspicious search bar and prompted me random ads each time i turned on my laptop.
Thank you soo much sir! May God bless you!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!! ARE ARE MY HERO!!! THE LAST OPTION WORKED!!! NO MORE SPYWARE ON MY PC!!! SERIOUSLY YOU ARE A LIFESAVER!!!!
Thank you for making a guide that actually works and is simple and direct. It's unfortunate that I had to crawl through a half dozen videos that were 5 times the length and didn't actually provide a working fix. Thank you thank you thank you!
your an amazing man and i hope you never stop helping people! iv spent so much time going around until i found you, nice straight and to the point nothing risky and it worked like a charm!
Thank you. Haven't used Chrome since I changed over to Opera. Reopened it for the first time in a year & it had this issue. Resolved now, cheers.
I've looked on various guides online and your video resolved it in 10 minutes, thank you so much!
The registry key does it. Also usable for Microsoft Edge (HKLM/Software/Policies/Microsoft/Edge). Thank you so much! (Why might this happen: Here, an add on together with an additional installation of a commercial software that "must" be installed to guarantee the communication between other software on my computer and the add on has done this, to both browsers, Chrome and Edge. This might be interesting for everyone trying to find out why the browser has been changed in that way [without being infected].) Edit, because I just read the other replies: Yes, it removes the "managed by your organization", and one can check via chrome://policy (or edge://flags) that it was really removed. Thank you so much for really giving _all_ information!!!
Perfect tutorial, couldn't upvote hard enough.

Hello! At work, I have a WinTerm. I used to TH-cam on it during my lunch-breaks, but as of this week I've been unable to. Restricted Mode is on and won't turn off, so I've tried to remove the "Your Browser etc" message. However, searching for regedit or registry editor draws a blank, as though it doesn't exist on the WinTerm. Any ideas, please? All advice is welcome!
Worked like a charm thank you! For anyone who might be struggling make sure you go to the right folder in regedit. I was in HKEY_CURRENT_USER instead of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, obviously I couldn’t find the Chrome folder under policies. Wasted hours of my life 🤦
Thank you so much dude I was getting redericted to bing
Salute to this man! You absolutely solved my problem. Sir, I've spent a year looking for help to fix this issue on my laptop and no one knows how to do it everytime I asked someone. Gladly I found this video! Bless you!

It worked but the thing for me was there was brave software in the policy even if I deleted it would come back I had to use malwarebytes. After the removal of virus I was able to delete the Brave software and the chrome which then never came back.

@@SkyePanda go into permissions and give yourself access to the files. you should be able to find the step by step online. took me a few tries to get it to work but eventually i did everything right and i got filled with joy as i deleted that chrome file

Does the organization know if you do this?

I don't find any of these options in any of the said places.
Amazing this works amazing!
it worked, thanks for the info.
Legend!
My question is how does managed by your organization happen? I heard it is something that happens during an update?
i am pretty sure it's a virus, i just got one too and im trying to remove it
If you are in a business environment, it could be a setting made by your IT department. If not then it can be caused by a Chrome settings change or installed extension.
@@OnlineComputerTips if it's a business entity then how to remove it? nothing is working.
King !
Thank you Thank you Thank you!
