8:40 - Yes! This! Not just for border agents, but the majority of law enforcement. I'd rather see a few more crackheads, than get spoken down to and asked a series of rhetorical questions in literally the same voice tone and demeanor as a parent scolding a toddler, by a cop looking to get his jollies off hearing you answer his questions, in some weird alpha-male wanna-be dickhead power trip. (I'm American, for reference)
I genuinely think it's just a culture thing as in, we don't really have a good reason why we do this, we just do and because we do we're gonna continue going to do that. I seriously doubt it catches a significant amount of criminals.
I’m sure it became way harder after covid, but in like 2018 I got my passport in a tiny rural Ohio town for $110. The lady at the post office legit used a beginner nikon and 15 days later I had it. Idk, maybe California is bureaucratic hellhole lol plus bigger cities take longer too I guess
@@sayantanmazumdar3 Proof for who? You'd only need it for traveling internationally, which would prove your nationality when it matters. But if your traveling within your own country, your state ID (such as driver's license) is your proof of citizenship.
One of the reasons I am glad I live in DC: had a last minute international trip come up and totally forgot my passport had expired. Was able to go to the passport office downtown and get a passport that day.
i have met people who had entered the usa illegally and got caught walking across the border on their way back. they werent charge with anything from returning home with no papers (they are from quebec which makes it a little bit easier to assume that they're canadian)
That’s because the borders don’t communicate with each other. They also don’t know when you leave Canada or America just when you arrive at least with visa less travel
Legit though getting a passport is insane. Born in the states and had no issues, but it still took 4 months from appointment to receiving it in the mail to get the passport. Also that border guard is miserable cause their job could be done better by a half-functional kiosk from a run down mall.
Here where I live I just got my renew driver licence after half a year of procastination and I feel a bit upset that I didn't do it before, because I was so worried of all the time I could waste doing it. Wasn't even a problem about the money, just me being lazy. I was driving for like 2 months without licence so I feel guilty now for not being responsible enough. unu
also that chuckle nut that drove hours and spent 300, clearly rushed his passport instead of planning the proper time.... if he did that he would have gotten it comfortably and nearly half the price
yeah I know its slow, I recently renewed mine too, but theres no way that there wasn't one near him if he planned ahead of time. Idk about other people, but international travel is generally something I do a lot of planning for many months ahead of time, that should probably be more than enough time to get a passport if you start the passport process when you know you'll need to travel
Getting a Visa has always been easy for me. Even when I got one last minute. If you're willing to spend like $300-700 (pricing really varies) you can get an expediated passport where a company has people who just stand in line all day to fill in that paperwork for you. That's all they do all day. If you plan your passport out like 6 months in advance it's incredibly cheap and easy. Even if there's delays or long waits you can just get all your initial stuff done and wait. Getting a passport is incredibly easy in America unless you do it in the worse way possible which is wait last minute and do it all by yourself. If you waited last minute... you just need to spend the $. Otherwise you 100% risk not getting your passport in time.
American is nowhere near the easiest to travel to. You have to get a visa, they stop you on the way in and ask you what you’re doing, it’s a pain in the ass
watching this instead of improving my life
So true

I'm watching this TO improve my life

Wait, you guys don't get your passport for free? It's proof of your nationality.
