Finally figured out how to do this effect...takes MUCH longer in Affinity, but I just won't deal with Illustrator's unjust policies. I hope Affinity continues to improve and add new features! Hardest thing...the accent! O well....
Man! You are a life (and money) saver! This feature is the only reason I would occasionally get Illustrator for a month in order to complete a project. Don't make it look too easy though...we still want Serif to put out the actual warp effect in Designer. Ha!
You can also use Mesh Warp in Affinity Photo, modify how you wish, next, open in AD and vectorize using PenTool if you need vector. However there is time-consuming task but you can do it if you need.
@@GraphicDesignsa Gosh i hope so... I keep having to move from designer back to Ai just to create text effects. Aslo My node conversion when holding ctrl doesn't ever seem to work. I have to continually do it manually.
@@The-Advent-Sabre Yes, me too. There's another way to do it, but requires Affinity Photo, and is very taxing on your computer if you have too may letters. If you are interested I can make a tutorial.
@@GraphicDesignsa I already use Affinity Photo, have done for a while. I've been a Graphic designer for nearly 20 years now. Recently made the switch to Affinity Designer as Adobe is just getting ridiculous money now. But the one thing I use almost 70-80% of the time is illustrators Text warping system. Was very disheartened to find out that the one powerful tool that could really set Designer apart from AI is the Text manipulation tools. Once Serif get that one locked down I'll never need Adobe again!
@@The-Advent-Sabre Agree, I think if the guys from Serif, manage to include 3 or 4 more features, we can say "By By AI". I will create a tutorial for the second method ( includes Designer and Photo), it should be ready for next week Thursday.
Thank you for this awesome tutorial! I'm new to using Design software and thought I'd give Affinity Designer a try. You taught me a lot here. Now I just have to try to remember it!
Serif DrawPlus which is the predecessor to Affinity Designer has a fully functional Envelope tool. It is difficult for me to understand why a newer software released by the same company does not. They already have the code, so why not include it? Very disappointing.
3:52. Aaaand, already this is out of date. I'm on A.D 1.8.2.620 and the node tool doesn't react at all to any of the techniques suggested in this video, my idea has come to an abrupt end. :(
@@GraphicDesignsa I can't do this either. I hold down ctrl while clicking on the centre node, nothing happens If I hold down ctrol while right-clicking on the centre node, the context menu pops up.
The Convert To Curves is COOL (Separate Text Letters is Cool) but the rest of the Vid is dated. As you can Now, add Text to Path like you can in illustrator.

Thanks for checking the video, 👍
rule number one: never add music to a tutorial with voice...!!! thanks for the video! ;)

Yes, I made another video using the Mesh warp in Photo, if you use the live effect then you can edit it in designer.
Great video... but what a shame its such a massive headache to do in affinity what Illustrator does in seconds! I only hope Designer catches up.
Thanks. Yes, is not as easy as using a warp deform, but I'm sure the guys from Serif are working on something, :).

hello, thanks great video 👍

Thank you. Your tutorial was helpful. By the way, your accent is awesome!
Thanks, 😁
Exactly what I was looking for, thank you.
Very helpful thank you.
Wow! Great video, thanks.
The video was awesome! thanks
A very helpful video, thank you.
It works best for a straight bottom letter, but for curved bottom letter like "S,G,D,C,B,O" not so much
Yep, unfortunately until the warp function is implemented in Affinity Designer, we can use this as an alternative.

Oh wow thanks for letting us know, what a waste of time!
I’m the same way. Couldn’t get it to work either
DeeJay Woz I took a template off of The Iconic downloads from Affinity Store and swapped the words. That was the only way I could do it.
Is there an update in affinity to do this differently now?
Unfortunately, not yet.
Thanks for the tutorial. Is there a way to export a curve (eg converted text) to photoshop where it is still editable as a path?
Very helpful tutorial, thank you! I learnt some skills that I didn’t know :)
AWESOME - easy directions and I was actually able to do it YAY! Thank you!
Thanks for checking my video, 👍
I put sounds at 100% but it still low sound and the music bothers a lot
Thanks
10:04 When I click Add one of the letters disappear.
Great tutorial! I was looking how to do this in Affinity. Thanks for showing!
This arc in the middle where you have to press ctrl, I can't do that, why?
Select the node, if it is smooth, it will show two handles on each side, press and hold control, click in one of the handles and drag.
@@GraphicDesignsa I can't do this either. I hold down ctrl while clicking on the centre node, nothing happens If I hold down ctrol while right-clicking on the centre node, the context menu pops up.
on Windows, you have to klick left mouse first and then right mouse to handle both sides
@@Buschloader came looking in comments for this same fix. THanks!
Could I use a logo inspired by this for a clothing brand?
Yes you can, 👍
Graphic&Design thank you!!! Love the tutorials!
how do you setup the toolbar on the left so it shows 2 columns of icons?
Go to View-> customize Tools
@@GraphicDesignsa thank you sir! although i just realized that every default icon fits in with 1 column anyway... haha :D
Thx bro ..
thanks bro'
Thank you
You're welcome
Can the same thing be done on the ipad version?
To be honest with you, I don’t know. Unfortunately I don’t have the iPad version. Did you ask in the Affinity Forum? That’s a good place to check. 👍
Too bad there is no warp feature...
4:47 is a cool tip
Thanks, 👍
Anybody have a link to this for ipad users?
Unfortunately no.
@@GraphicDesignsa do this technique work for affinity designer on ipad?

Great tutorial but in 2023 we have the distort tool.
The music though 😖

Saya hanya berpikir ...jika anda memotongnya dengan circle..saya rasa otu akan lebih cepat san effectif😊😊😊
THX very very much!!!
Thanks, :)
I can´t believe it Affinity didn't have a tool to make distorsions..... so you should make by hand
Just save your time and use inkscape then copy-paste to Designer
Going back to photoshop, I know its a lot more but its so much easier to do everything, Affinity is soo complicated its untrue lol
Nice tutorial. WTF the music 😅
yep, old days 😀
I feel like you are more argentinian than the dulce de leche.
illustrator does this with a click of a button
This is such a headache to do.... Affinity needs to catch up.
music is too distractive
Lost me after Expand stroke.
