    In January 1978, at what is now Lindbergh Plaza, 500 leather-clad, Mohawked fans lined up to see the sneering, spitting British punk band play their first U.S. concert at the Great Southeast Music Hall.
    After the show, bassist Sid Vicious made a stop at Piedmont Hospital after slitting his wrist with a letter opener at a fan’s apartment. The band broke up nine days later, but it made a lasting impression on a city then known mostly for Southern rock.

    what a great historical artifact. Rotten sounds genuinely pissed off and Jonesy is clearly drunk given how many mistakes he's making. Cookie is on it. As ever. Top drummer - dead solid.

    Man.... Joneys tuning problems are really evident on this one.

    • @Mrpublicimagelimited
      @Mrpublicimagelimited 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Apparently his guitars were damaged en route, and the tuning problems were never really resolved. So Steve bought himself a Gibson Firebird, which he's described since as being absolute shit. 😂😂
      You'll see him playing the Firebird on the 'No Fun' encore in Winterland.

    Sid's bass seems very low in the mix. Was he even amped? This is a solid performance! Their musicianship was unfairly derided!

      Sid could barely play sober and when he was messed up not at all. Supposedly Steve would unplug his bass if the sound people didn't turn Sid down enough. There is at least one video where you can see Steve walking across and unplugging Sid lol.

      @@philipholmes5884 yea I think the boy is done alright considering....There are heaps of live gigs where he's playing Adaquit he is the poster boy for punk because he just grabbed an instrument and did it which I thought was the actual ethos of the whole thing? I misunderstood what you were saying is all.....remember Steve switched to guitar without knowing how to play but he also had a couple of years to get to grips with it
