The singer of Cartoone is Derek Creigan, he was from Glasgow and moved to London, he's also my grandpa:)

I like Franz Ferdinands first album. It is full of energy, and the songs are great. A classic album.
@death to the suburbs Thank you for your reply. I'm in my sixties now, and love music of all genres. I was into Punk 🧷 rock in the late 1970s . When I first heard Franz Ferdinand I was blown away by their sound. Their debut album had that energy that Punk has.

One of my favorite "rarities" in my music collection is a copy of their original 2004 CD single for "Take Me Out" the hit song that started it all for them. It was released about the same time Record Labels were beginning to stop manufacturing CD singles.
That Steve Reich record is a treasure. I've spun my copy so many times.
Loved this band since high school, now here married with a kid and they're still putting out excellent music. Love them all!

Really good episode. Imagine starting with RTJ4! What an amazing experience that would be (especially getting to go back and discover the other three amazing albums).
Killer Mike's 'R.A.P. Music' and El-P's 'Cancer 4 Cure' are arguably even stronger and rank amongst the very best the genre has ever produced. The whole Def Jux cannon including Cannibal Ox, Mr. Lif, Aesop Rock, etc. is wicked. Quite an adventure for the newbies!!!
Listening to Audrey speak on RTJ is an absolute delight. I mean, the entire episode is really, but that in particular filled me with joy.

Never a bad album from Franz Ferdinand. Jeff Buckley's Grace probably is the moment I began to get more seriously into music and the album that was on play during some of my first *ahem* sexual experiences too. Such a wonderful album from start to finish.
Franz Ferdinand is the best band alive and I'll protect them, also I loved their nerd choices

About 5 years ago I was on an aeroplane with my parents. Two seats in front of me was a gentlemen who was popular among the passengers, often being asked for autographs, photos, etc. Though I had a clear view of his face and persona, I had absolutely no clue who he was. Eventually the plane landed and we gathered our luggage, heading into the airport. We then seen him posing next to a poster advertising Franz Ferdinand live. I then realised it was Alex Kapranos and immediately ran up and asked for a photo. Super nice guy, sorry I didn’t recognise him immediately!
I noticed that the copy of Music For 18 Musicians was labeled as having a “very mild warp”; that’s one record where you probably wouldn’t notice some warping!
that was interesting ,odd choices but also creative ones,the accents at times took some adjusting to especially the ladys, but who dosent love the scottish accent,anyway i enjoyed their picks ,in fact i was at ameoba today and yeah overwhelming ,the album cold blood i would get,i think i saw them years ago and had almost forgotten,love SF sixties bands,so many now are obscure,mother earth,coldblood,the neighborhood,ect. nice video all seem very cool ,best luck and cheers always🌻✌💙🇺🇦🇺🇸

Only knew FF for their massive tunes back in the day, but their working with Sparks so many years later got me into them properly. Such an excellent band, and perfect for a series like this, so thanks.
