Really great interview. I liked how the interviewer and Rufus were able to contextualise Rufus' work in the past, today and with a view to the future in just a few minutes.
Dear Rufus..I am a Bostonian and saw you live twice ! I have loved you since I learned about you. a age 16 y.o Thanks for the great pleasures you’ve shared of your music and all your loves! Martha and your Husband and stories of The Wonderful Wainwright Family. sincerely, Marjorie Korson❤❤❤
listened to him while i was in middle school (24 now) and NEVER knew he was gay at all. i love going back and realizing some of my favorite artists are gay!
Honestly I think the timing of his coming-out was not ideal for his career. The vast majority of world were not ready for that then. He is so underrated till this day, because of that imo.
People have been saying that he is 'hugely underrated' and 'a buried treasure' since his first album. I think it's good that he isn't more 'popular', he has had and still has an amazing career.
What a fing narcissist. Doesn't even stand up to shake the interviewer's hand at the beginning. And one of the first gay artists to succeed? He was born in 1973 and is not even on this basic list: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LGBT_artists He's a narcissist through and through.
Love this piece, Rufus Wainwright is an incredible musician!

Rufus and Martha must have made their mother Kate very proud. Love the McGarrigle family.
He did the role of Annie in concert 😊, on the unfollow the rules tour

"to succeed"? Whatever...he was hardly the first...Ask Holly Near.
One of the first? Hardly. He was decades behind.
