I love getting my spices from Winco bulk foods in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I appreciate that using the plastic bags provided keeps everything sanitary. I have containers at home labeled for all my regularly used spices and I blend my own spice mixes like taco seasoning, bbq rubs & chili spice.

Would love to use my own containers from home to reduce plastic waste. So hard to find bulk food, and even harder to find it at good prices like WinCo. Hoping to see WinCo to start offering more eco friendly options when bulk shopping :)

As to reduce plastic waste, is it possible to bring our own containers to the bulk section instead of using the plastic bags provided?

Hello! Thank you for the question - at this point we do not allow customers to bring in their own containers to our stores for many reasons - including food safety, tare weight & added labor that would be needed. However, we will let our Bulk Foods teams know that this is an option that you would like to see in the future. Thank you!

I shop Winco bulk a bit. I do avoid starchy things, pasta, rice, or most grains, flours...
One time I heavily stocked on those items. For two years I battled one type of insect.
Once in my pantry, they attacked those starchies, stuff already stored, and new products.
No problems with the other bulks, sweets, nuts, popcorn, dried veg...
Compare $/oz to the shelf price. Bulk isn't always the best.
Winco gets 90% of my food $$$.

What type of climate? I haven't had a problem keeping flour yet, but I've only tried a few months

Can you come out with compostable bag options instead of using plastic?

I’m a huge fan of the bulk Chewy Spree candies but haven’t seen them in awhile. Are they discontinued?

If I want a lot of something (flour, for example), can I just take the whole bag from inside the bin and put it in my cart instead of scooping it 45 times into another bag?

No, but you can by most items by the case or sealed sack AND at a 5% discount. Be sure to talk to Bulk Foods or Customer Service on your next visit!

The same way it works at every zero waste store….you weigh your container first before filling to get the get the tare weight.
