- In this video, we dive into the next big project: insulating our boat! With winter approaching, we knew it was time to get serious about making the space warmer and cozier. It’s already making a huge difference in keeping the boat warmer, and we’re excited to feel the full effect as the colder weather sets in.
She is finally feeling so much better and looking BEAUTIFUL and SHINY

What a transformation it looks bigger inside now and i bet its not as echoing now. Great job guys 👍❤
Well done both. You certainly have a great sense of adventure that hones well with your humours.
Wow you both worked really hard, The boat is looking better and better, Love Priccila's dancing.
Dave and Elaine ❤
Thanks guys we appreciate all your support we recognise you by name now ☺️
I’m glad to see another post. I binged on episodes 1-31. It’s been rough having to wait for the next episodes!
and now you have to wait again for the next one, unfortunately we can watch them quicker than they can make them, but they are fun to watch 👍
All heading in the right direction.....Great job😊😊
Nice work well done and special congratulations on the inspection keep it up see you next time 😊😊
Things are going well. The insulation will be great for winter. Also, nice the inspection passed
What a transformation from where it began. So happy for you guys. 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
Hi again my two favourite people ❤, Nice to see you getting on so well I still don’t know how you get so much done and go to work and spend your spear building your boat, we I must go looking forward to your next video, Thank you.⛴️⛴️🛠️🛠️🐶⭐️👍👌
Thanks so much Fred some days we also wonder. But slowly but surely we getting there !! Its not messages like this that keep us going and inspired
You guys are amazing
Can't wait to see it finished ❤
Thanks for the longer video and good job !
I have to get my South African pals over to translate when Chris is speaking 😂 So pleased for the subtitles 😂😅😂❤
Hold the spray foam can upside down, it's how should be applied, just advise Guys, the vids are awesome and such a project you're doing.
Thanks for the tip we will definitely try this !
Looks like your on the Chris brownie point run for a bit, enjoy it as it may not last long. Ha ha. Staying a bit warmer is a major plus with the winter knocking on the door so getting the log burner in, if your having one and get it working would be a good move keep Priscilla toes warm, but nice to see it progressing and you maybe even camping out in it soon with a bit of a bedroom built and well insulated with all the off cuts you have.
i did this on my 67ft narrow boat last year and you have done amazing work so far loving the journy :)
I got to admit, when I saw your first video I wasn't that impressed, you had a big rusty hull of a canal boat, but I was intrigued every so slightly, I'm glad I stuck with it and have watched all your progress, I'm impressed, you guys a cute couple and work well together, these days I look forward to your videos and I'm impressed with the work and effort you guys are putting in.
Thanks Ray we appreciate your kind words and the fact you stuck with us ! It's messages like this that keep us going.
Great video. All the best things you can do to the boat you will probably never see again, it's going to be lovely and cosy in there now.
@@Robbie1820 your so right thank you for the support 😃
Helloooooooooooo , great progress and so pleased to here the boat finally referred to as " SHE " , she is getting her soul restored .
Great vlog Guys. Your doing good.bet it does feel heaps warmer Stay safe 🤗xx
Thanks so much
Keep the seat belt on we keep watching u pls keep seat belts on love yous from me and my family
Hi guys, when you come to fit the ceiling insulation boards, you can use stick pins to fix it securely to the roof.
They are a small metal plates with an adhesive base and a projecting pin that goes through the board. You then fit another plate over the end and trim off the pin.
The insulation installation looks great. You can hear the difference in your voices, there is a bit of an echo when you speak now that there is insulation in the boat.
Looking great! Would have been interesting to see a running measure of the temperatures inside vs outside as you added the insulation! Maybe just the delta of the daily averages (inside vs outside) to see how thermally decoupled the interior space is getting.
Still, awesome work you two!
I'll tell you one thing how to take care of that gas tank and make it last longer. Take it and get some crylon plastic paint spray. The gas tank would cry on plastic paint. That way, the sun won't bleed the plastic and then it'll break it'll eventually break the paint helps keep the uv lights from eating the plastic up
Buy some acetone for cleaning spray foam off your hands. It dissolves it instantly and then can be wiped clean with a rag. Your local paint store should have it in one litre containers.
Make sure you get the panels sat flat up against the metalwork. You can get condensation forming if there's any gaps. It's so good to see you guys making progress.
That's why many boaters use spray foam to insulate the walls and ceiling
Nice job. Try investing in a foam gun that will make it easier and keep unused foam good .
Hold foam can upsidedown when spaying stops air coming out from can and splattering on start.
One thing people often overlook with insulation is yes, I'll keep you snug in the winter but it will also keep you cool in the summer, unless you open all the doors and windows 😁
True. Being from Norway I know all about that.
i think i would get a matress and sleeping bags and stay on the boat on these working days you would be quite comfortable and warm now
Love how your misses wiggle
Buy yourself some acetone. It dissolves uncured spray foam instantly. A rag lightly soaked in acetone will clean your hands then all you do is wash with soap and water after. Your local paint store should sell it.
Disaster always strike when come to spray foam. 😮
Beam me up Scotty bling bling ❤️🎉
You are now making a sandwich of watertight ship's hull - insulation - watertight layer on the inside. That gives the risk of trapping moisture, with all its consequences. It is better to keep a layer of air there, so that it can still breathe and condensation can drip down, so that you can pump it out with the bilge pump.
I don't worry, understand why you don't find this home mattress. That you can put on the boat and then when you work late, you can sleep on the boat and then get up in the morning and just grab a bite to eat. Hi There's a thought. You'll get more work done that way.Yeah, we should be hearing on the
Before you put in the insulation you should have put in the screw boards for put up your walls by drilling and screwing to the metal supports
Hello😊 love your show, have an old boat myself that we are fixing, but now it’s winter so have to wait for spring again.
Question: Did i miss it or didn’t you put insulation under the floor board?
Are you gonna have heated floors maybe? But even so insulation is smart to stop cold coming in or heat going out. 😊😊
LOL! 3 hours only. I drive that everyday to work here in the US. Boat is looking really good. Hotel looks like an Ibis.
Wow that's a commute !! :)
Good job, I am with you on insulation boards over stray foam, should last longer. A good channel on TH-cam is build a narrowboat with nana and grandad, talk about indepth, very good though.....
Get a log burner put in and a tent move save a fortune in rent and hotels
Hi, I want ask what source for heat this winter you will use in the boat ?
What happen to the inboard engine?
I didnt realise the boat was so far from home. I assume no canal closer to home to get the boat closer while your building?
I think you need portable mics to hook to your camera so we can hear you better
should have used spray foam
Very bad if you need access to weld these days its much better to fill boats wall spaces with wingspan and limited spray foam to make an area air tight .the whole spray foam idea was a fad that has become not practical and economical in the long run
Spray foam is great but the boat would have to be out of the water so the contract insulator can get his equipment hoses to the boat. The product is also temperature sensitive and it may possibly be too cool to cure properly. I have a feeling the panels are also substantially cheaper.
How are you planning on removing the massively heavy steel bullhead? Or are you considering using it as a partition?
@@WarthogChief we listed it by hand in the video unfortunately didn't catch it all but it was a mammoth task
Are you also going to protect the sides of the insulation from soaking up any water caught in the bottom of the bilge area OR can water not come into contact with the insulation?
@@DuoVagariI remember when you cut it in half and it was a chore to move
Are you in England ? Your accent seems South African , both of you work hard whatever floats your boat = just the British humour at play , good luck with your project, take care .
Hi love watching every thing you do is it your intention to run the barge on the outboard or do you intend to put something bigger 😊
Thanks so much 😊 we will upgrade it later but for the time being we trying to get the boat functioning all round. Will most likely work on specifics down the line
I’m sure You don’t need a BSS for a boat at that stage of build. You can simply declare it as annex 3 to CRT.
Wow cant you sleep
There's going to be a lot less echo inside the boat soon.
Can I ask why you no longer call Barley your "Sausage Dog"? Dachshunds are commonly nicknamed Hot Dogs or Wiener dogs in the US.
We do refer to him by all those names, he's definitely our sausage:) maybe just hasn't come out on camera recently. But he's definitely referred to as sausage daily 😃
Chinese subtitles?
Hi That's Defenetly a Setting on your device can easily be changed
@@DuoVagari That is not universally true.
If you find yourself without a tape measure then you can use your phone w/ camera and a ruler app.
Good day. Are you guys planning on living on your boat? Or are you guys planning on it being a special place for you to. And do you guys have children?
Don't you insulate under the floorboards
We going to insulate the floor very soon just waiting on materials,
buy swags sleep in boat
Ohhhh should have used closed cell styrofoam 😮
