- Clemson Football has entered the fall camp period with all eyes on the upcoming 2023 season, and on Late Kick Live Ep 413 Josh Pate discussed the different possible record scenarios. Could the hiring of Garrett Riley be the spark the Tigers need to make it to the ACC Championship Game or CFP? What if things don't pan out and the record regresses? What is the most likely scenario? For 12 years we haven't had a season under 10 wins. There is no way in hell with a upgrade at OC an QB we win less than 10 games that is silly.
Dont be too sure, i haven't seen anything out of Klubnik yet that screams elite, we shall see.....

ABSOLUTE worst case is 9-3. This team sleepwalked the last two seasons to 9 and 10 win regular seasons, and now have an exponentially better QB and OC.
You also have to consider the last 2 years the acc as been down bad now they are rising

Clemson winning would be a product of Jeff Scott not Tony Elliot. Offensive production nose dived after Scott left and Elliot was on his own

@@elll4222 perhaps. But offensive play has gone down since he left, and that was with Trevor Lawrence for 2 more seasons. Nothing against Elliot personally but as a Clemson fan I wish him the best but wasn't sad to see him go. On the other hand, I'm happy to see Scott is back in Clemson, even if he isn't officially back with the team yet.
From what I witnessed, Clemson's offense definitely took a decline when Jeff Scott left. Significant difference in the production at the WR position. Not sure if lack of talent is playing a role in this scenario but I am not big on coincidences and the timing of Scott leaving fits. My two cents 😂😂

@@904Hurricane I agree the drop-off started when Scott left. Lawrence and ETN masked it a bit just by pure talent but when they left it was obvious.

I think they go 11-1. I still think they are better than anyone on their schedule, but I think the schedule gives them a loss. But I do not think the loss will be either ND or FSU.

I would laugh if Clemson went undefeated again. They have Florida State and Notre Dame at home. We can all agree that Dabo Swinney needs to live up to his contract. The expectations are high for Clemson. I can assure you
Live up to his contract!? Dabo has had ONE season that wasn't a double digit winning season since his 1st full year coaching. He has 8 conf rings, 2 natty rings, countless bowl wins and has made Clemson what they are. How in the crap has he NOT earned his contract!?

I really like Clemson this year. The defense is annually a top 10 unit and should be again and the offense just needs to improve as much as it did from 2021 to 2022 to go 11-1, which is what I think they’ll be. This was a team that was a few special teams mistakes against South Carolina away from probably making the CFP last season and I think they’ll better from a quality perspective this season.
Clemson has recruited unbelievably well. They are more talented than anyone they play . Even FSU and Notre Dame. I think 12-0 is more probable than 10-2. They may drop one against top talented teams but I don’t think two.
Josh is spot on...I am not sure about the "Worst Case" prediction. I think that would be either 8-4 or 9-3. This season comes down to two positions staying healthy. (1) QB - that is pretty much any team in the country. (2) WR - the last few years injuries have been beat up. The starting WRs for Clemson are elite but the fall off is severe. Clemson's OL and DL are deep and very good. LBs are elite and the secondary was super young last year. I see Clemson ending up 11-1 and making it into the Playoffs. Could they go 12-0 sure. Could they go 10-2 yep. Clemson is an Elite Program and is lead by the best program builder in College football...Dabo Swinney.

Duke is a trap game. Elko is a masterful coach and Duke has a lot of returning talent. Clemson has to break in a new OC and a new QB. Duke had a great record (9-3) in 2022, but most of those were wins against middle of the road teams. Clemson should win that road game and the next two games
I see Clemson heading into the FSU game with a 3-0 record. I'm giving the nod in a close game to the 'Noles even those this game is at Death Valley. Provided Clemson stays healthy, they should be favored to win Wake, Miami, NC State, and Ga Tech giving them an 8-1 record heading into the ND game. I say Clemson finds it's grove and gets it's revenge against ND and rolls into the USC game with a 11-1 record. That means they'll have beat a great QB at UNC, but ultimately a flawed defensive team. I think the USC game on the road is a toss up, but I think Clemson lost the 2022 game due to poor OC play and they'll be ready. I think a 12-1 record will follow into a re-match with FSU into the ACC Championship game. I will give the nod to Clemson with a 13-1 record and an ACC title.

BTW, during warm-ups, I watched Cade throw, on the run, 70+ yards ACCURATELY, through the air.....

@@kevinsuriano9663I think Elko is going to be a lot like Mel Tucker, have an AMAZING 1st season that gets everyone all up in arms and then just fall off. I think Brian Kelly at LSU will be the same way.
The catalyst for Clemson was the WV Orange Bowl game. The SC and TN games, combined, was the WV game. I am hoping I am right.
Clemson also got Garrett Riley, Scott and Morrison as well as Nick Eason, Wes Goodwin three of the top O-line coaches in the country, and two of the top D-line coaches as well as C.J. Spiller most of these coaches have NFL experience...Go Tigers, Support your favorite college football team...
Think we do better just with Riley. Streeter was a bonehead that let defenses dictate what we were going to do just off of formation. Just one example of this is Shipley only getting 15 touches against sc when averaging 8 yards a carry and mafah only 7 touches with a 6 yard average but threw it 29 times with a qb that couldn’t hit water if he fell out a boat. I was at the game and sc couldn’t stop the run at all that game and majority of the year for that matter but streeter went away from what worked cause the defense loaded the box. I think Riley it going to do what works until you stop it.
As a Clemson fan i am stoked about Riley but while Riley will absolutely be an improvement over Streeter (heck I think I would be an improvement over Streeter) I just think Riley has to prove himself (which I firmly believe he will do) because he has only ever called games with Sonny Dykes. Dykes himself is a offensive minded guru himself and is extremely involved in play calling. We have always been better when Dabo let's the OC be the OC. We shall see though just how good Riley can be on his own and I'm super excited to see it!

@@STEELGMBL duke is returning their QB, all 5 OL, along with 80% production across the board. Also, Williams-Brice is a tough place to play so it wouldn’t blow my mind. I would also include ND in there as a toss-up game
@@jacevincentt doesn't matter who they return, they don't have the talent to run with Clemson for four quarters especially now that Clemson has a much better playcaller and QB. We own Willy B also, it's not tough for us to play there we've shut them out over 30 times in that stadium

The only loss I can see is to ND which is a toss up game in Death Valley. FSU won't magically beat Clemson this year, if they couldn't beat them last year at their "low" in Tallahassee. Make it make sense

They absolutely have an elite RB room and elite elite LB room. We will very likely see the DL be at least as good as 2018 if not better bc of the depth. OL will be twice as good as last season too. I'm most excited to see the secondary tho
Streeter I believe held back the offense. He didn't put trust into DJ, which affected DJs confidence.
Streeter was absolutely on board with DJ from season start to season finish. DJ's transfer was a fait accompli, the only question was where not when. If DJ had been eligible to play beyond his senior year at Clemson, his transfer would have still been likely due to the likelihood Klubnik would enter the transfer portal if they asked him to be the backup QB another year. Also, DJ had an awesome senior year and one of the best UIL deals in the nation. He was set wherever he went and there would be no shortage of teams wanting his talent.
Not really Streeters fault when DJ was bouncing 10yard passes on the field. Ultimately it’s on the coaches.
@meshach2806 DJ missed opened passes. I will not argue that. Just like the starting WR missed catches. There was a 3 fold problem last year, and it starts with the OC. He is the coach
@@TheEvilways81 would you put trust in DJ? Cade was throwing picks in practice. I think streeters main flaw was play calling, as in abandoning the run.
@@meshach2806 It's very possible that Patrick Mahomes threw fewer picks during practice in his first year in Lubbock compared to Klubnik for the reason that the Red Raider's defense was one of the worst in the nation.
Clemson finishes reg. season 11-1, wins ACC and heads back to the CFP where they will lose.

I think 9-3. Between Notre Dame, FSU, Miami, UNC, and USC they drop 3 of those. Mostly because i believe the ACC has gotten a little better and Clemson may struggle just enough that teams can take advantage
