I was in Army ROTC at the University of Tennessee when Lane Kiffen was head coach. People from Knoxville like to hate on him, but he (or at least somebody on his staff) helped us Cadets out. During the winter months he let us do morning Physical Training on the indoor practice football field. Sometimes the players and conditioning couches would come do the work outs with us. He let us use the Athletes Dining facility because it was located attached to Stokely (ROTC building) so we could eat breakfast after PT instead of walking 15 minutes across campus to the other cafeterias. And they hooked us up with speacial Addidas workout shirts that had our Battalions logo on it. They mirrored the ones the football team used. When Derek Dooley came in as Head coach all of the above was cut off.

I don't particularly have a problem with Kiffin. He was young and did what every CFB head coach does. The real tragedy is how our Athletic department and UT in general handled the situation after he left. Some of the most baffling and bad choices in college football history. Acting like a group of 5 program instead of the powerhouse we actually are

I take it that someone has now showed Jimmy Sexton how to use the mute bottom his phone so he doesn’t have to cover the speaker anymore?

Dabo absolutely uses his Rolodex. That’s the reason they fell from prominence. He used the friends and family program instead of his agents list. He’s since fired all those guys. This is the year to see if he corrected.

@@gobigorange Sort of like whenever Saban is live in person with Pat Mcafee and crew 😂. I just watched Saban's segment with Pat from a day or 2 ago. He's obviously friends with Pat and crew. It's pretty entertaining IMO. There's a, good dynamic, but with Saban being the perfectionist he is, you can tell it gets a little wild for him from time to time😂.

Great story! To run a top-level football program requires enormous patience, organizational skills, and a combination of savvy and cunning in order to maintain success. Ppl hv no idea the friction that exits, not only between players and coaches but, training staff, administrative staff, and media. There's a lot of potential chaos to keep at bay over even just one year, let alone almost 20yrs!

Kiffin and Sark were both at SC under Carroll before all this. Kiffin dad was Monte, a defensive coordinator if I remember correctly in the NFL. Practices and games were a big thing in LA at the time because all the pro teams sucked during the Carroll window before the NCAA killed our program.

I love your show, but there is no chance that somebody tells coach Saban. Who to hire they may make suggestions presenting with some coaches that may want to leave where they are. But I can bet my life. Nobody tells coach Saban Who he's gonna hire. That may be how the rest of college football works. But there's no chance you'll ever get anybody to believe. That's how they're going tell The greatest of all time to do it

I can’t stand Lane Kiffin or his supporters. He is what they think James Franklin is, except worse. Lane Kiffin can’t even be competitive with the sport’s best. James Franklin comes one play away. Lane Kiffin comes one roster away. I bet he’s the only coach ever to lose 6 games with a preseason #1 team. Yes, he actually was #1 at one point.

This is pitiful. The extent of Josh’s “insider scoop” is he was loitering in the tunnel. Do you realize how many maintenance men, random event staffers, stadium personnel, et al are seeing the same things you are? This is NOT insight. This is not a special window into anything. Please stop with the I’m an insider routine.
