From what I've read, their song is actually the song that Sjonni was supposed to perform in their NF (except they translated it to English from Icelandic). Kinda gives the whole thing even more depth tbh
I'm so glad somebody else likes San Aggelos S'Agapisà. That song is my personal winner for 2011, and i haven't seen that much support for it, everyone mostly regards it as a forgettable entry, but i find it absolutely marvelous. The unheard of structure, the traditional instruments, the way the lyrics are so well written, this is just amazing. One of my favorite songs in ESC and of all time.
"I didn't even know that San Marino competed at all before 2012"... Didn't you know their debut entry from 2008? For me, and for a lot of people, this is the best entry from San Marino.

My top 10 of ESC 2011: 10: Finland 🇫🇮: just a cute song that has good lyrics and tells a story. 8.1/10. 9: Cyprus 🇨🇾: this song is so dramatic and so up my street. 8.5/10 8: Greece 🇬🇷: this song is also the same as Cyprus but just has a better staging. 8.8/10 7: France 🇫🇷: this is so dramatic and again great staging but there is just more vocal depth and his tone is amazing. 9/10. 6: Denmark 🇩🇰: seriously how can you hate this song. It is just inoffensive and happy. It spreads a great message and a great track. 9.5/10. 5: UK 🇬🇧: this song is such a mood and so empowering. 10/10. 4: Georgia 🇬🇪: this song is amazing. Showstopper and a unique genre is always a win with me. 10/10. 3: Germany 🇩🇪: love this song is it is slightly ahead of her winner for me. 10/10. 2: Ireland 🇮🇪: again this was iconic. This is the year where Armenia failed to qualify for the Grand Final for the first time ever in their history and also Turkey misses their first and only final in a year they participated in the contest. For those who indeed still have a problem with the winner, i think Turkey failing to qualify for the Grand Final in that year was the main reason Europe choose Azerbaijan as the winner of ESC 2011.

Sweden 🇸🇪 (Despite the weird lyrics, I love pretty much everything about this. That staging is one of the most memorable ones that Sweden has brought in history). 3. Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦 (This has a kind of a laid back almost classy atmosphere to it which I really love. Dino has the perfect voice for this kind of song, and I like that Bosnia kind of switched things up despite sending their standard Balkan ballad). 2. Albania 🇦🇱 (I finally found someone who loves this as much as I do. Truly one of the most overlooked entries of recent years. Aurela fully deserved a final place and I’m still mad that she didn’t make it in a year with so many forgettable entries). 1. Slovenia 🇸🇮 (Thank god the juries saw the brilliance of this. This is such a powerful entry and definitely a big standout for Slovenia as a country especially in the 2010-2019 era).
