Discovered your channel recently, and am very glad I did. Old soldier, recently diagnosed with Stage 1 hypertension (genetics and age). I already train 7 days a week, but diet has always been a sticking point. Seeing what someone of your activity level and training needs uses for nutrition while being aware of sodium was very helpful. Thanks, and keep up the good work. Hooah!!
$5.69 for a pint of Halo Top, bro, what. No wonder you get everything when it's on sale. Joining the Navy as the POGiest of POGs but your videos are awesome, man. I did a TON of research on fitness/nutrition in case I decide to go for SF after my time with the Navy, and from what I've seen, all your videos check out with what I've learned from other sources. And the rucking, rope climbing, knot tying types of videos are super useful. Keep it up man, you're gonna be huge.
Good video. I do eggs (any style) along with turkey burgers.Throw in some old fashion oat meal with blueberries , protein bar along with a whey protein drink.
Just wanted to share that all the things I've done schools I've been to I had a habit of getting 1/2 hr to an hr of sleep no matter what. I would fall asleep in class rooms during technical training. One day after I was out I did my annual physical at VAMC. I was finished and Dr. Looked at my legs and asked how long have you had those? Irritated mosquito bites. I said couple weeks usually go away after awhile. Asked me to do one more test before I left. Drew blood. Next day Saturday got a call demanding I come in immediately. I asked why. They just said come in. I said if they don't share why I will be hanging up. They replied I could be dead before I hang up. They told me my blood sugar was over 800+ and should be between 70-120. My grandfather and mother who was a nurse at VAMC died of diabetes. Because of the high physical fitness specops required they think it was missed during physicals. So if anyone else has bites or wounds that don't heal quickly get checked for diabetes.
I f**king love the Dave's Killer bread, and I surprised someone else eats it. Sometimes I would find myself just eating the bread by itself, and it's loaded with good nutrients!
What does your diet in the field look like? Do you just eat MRE’s or do you bring additional food/supplements? I’ve found myself bringing more of my own food and removing more form my MRE’s when I field strip them.
Yeah typically I’ll just eat MREs but I don’t eat everything in the MRE. I try my best to stick to high, healthy (ish) protein/carb items, and stay away from the fats and candies.
Thank you for awesome accessible nutrition prep grocery shopping field guide in the wild! I stopped in my tracks to see if you were actually going to pick up then-Cheerios. Is sourdough 🍞 a good option, in your regimen? Almond milk is a good go-to! Smoothie recommendations maybe? I guess I have soda back on my shopping list! (Good kind)
Thanks man! So, I do drink but I try not to drink too terribly often. I tend to stick to hard liquor, because their is less calories and it’s easier to mix with like diet soda or something. That doesn’t mean I never drink beer. I think it’s important to remember that everything is fine in moderation. Remember that most hard liquor will range from 60-100 calories a shot, while most beers are 100-200 a can/bottle. Also, alcohol is considered to be “empty calories,” so if your counting macros, it causes a deficit it the amounts of fat/carbs/protein you are taking in because alcohol technically doesn’t fit into any of those categories.
Greetings from an 11A5SLA in Taipei, Taiwan! I just subscribed to your channel. I had some medical issues-prostate cancer, etc.-and gained some abdominal fat through the hormone treatments. I’ve been working on my PT and nutrition, sleep, stress reduction, etc. and I’m glad I ran across your channel. This shopping expedition gave me some great food for thought-thanks! I don’t think we have many of these items here, but maybe I can cobble something together via my local health food stores and high-end supermarkets (Carrefour Market, Jason’s, and Costco if you want to call it a supermarket). For your soda fix, you might try OOHA-flavored water, Taiwanese-made, I believe-if they have it in CONUS. My PT is not very high-speed these days, but your videos give me something to shoot for when I get to the next level. Thanks again!
Lots of good gouge here, much appreciate it, Gritty. If you like chips, there's a brand called: The Daily Crave. They are a bit pricy, but their Spicy Sriracha Lentil Chips are to die for!!! Also... Been supplementing rice with millet, so all my dishes that call for rice, I just use millet.
Have you tried a fat adaptive diet vs what you are currently using? Do you tend to stay moderate-low carbohydrate? I am assuming this is based on your training schedule Thank you
You should try the Beyond burgers, which are plant-based burgers that have pea protein, and comes to about 40 grams of protein per burger; it goes great with the Dave's Killer bread.
Consistently one of the most helpful channels not only for soldiers but just for a healthy life in general. Keep up the work man!!
💪 🤘

I’ve been backlogging your videos like crazy; I’m grateful for the information (especially the Cheerios history).
Always love the content. Super helpful as it's from a soldier's POV. Cheap and effective. Thanks brother.

Harris Teeter has stepped it up since I was growing up in Fatalville.
As many knowledge bombs as deals dropped in this. Cheers for the tips from a brit enjoying living in the US.

I love this channel so much! I was just writing everything down the entire time. The wife knows what to pick up at the grocery store.
LOL, awesome man! 👌 And thanks for the support brother!
For pasta sauce get a can of Tuna or Salmon, a can of beans, a little bit of olive oil put it in a blender and you got sauce.
I f**king love the Dave's Killer bread, and I surprised someone else eats it. Sometimes I would find myself just eating the bread by itself, and it's loaded with good nutrients!
Love your channel and videos. Excellent tips that I have incorporated in my daily workouts. Mahalo 🤙🏽
Man I always enjoy your videos. 👍🏼🤘🏻

This is helpful. Currently on a training plan. This will be huge
Great channel, great attitude, and very positive in your delivery #RLTW!
Also for Mac and cheese you can get the goza noodles. They’re high in protein with velvita cheese (I know I spelt that wrong)

I’ve never clicked something so fast. I’ve been struggling with my diet as I try to get into peak physical shape.
👍
Could you give us a video of some meal prepping or what is good for a day to day lunch
Thank you for this video. I will defiantly employ some of your ideas in my diet.

Great video! I neglected my nutrition a long time in my career. Still can't convince me gummy bears shouldn't be on every packing list though.
I mix that pb2 in my protein shakes along with some bananas. Tastes great.
Love the channel brotha. What’s your stance on fitting alcohol into a good diet? Do you drink at all?

I’m going to be able to buy so much food with the money I save on my ranger packing list when I win the RANGER PACK
Man.
Where I'm at now those canned chicken breasts are 3 bucks a can.
Where do you shop gritty?
They Kroger bought harris teeter and closed all of them here.
😢
What are your thoughts on Body Armour electrolyte drink?
I usually just stick to Gatorade or Xtend. BodyArmor isn’t bad, but sometimes it’s just a lot of sugar unless you get the Lite kind.
Edamame beans are soy beans. I don't eat soy, bad for the T levels
WHAT?!!! Powdered peanut butter?!!! Never heard of such a thing! 🤣🤣🤣 Ok, I'm game! And your wife is definitely a character! LOL!!!
