Not only were the 90s great for all the reasons you said but I feel also that people could laugh at themselves more, there was no PC culture, it didn’t matter if your beliefs were different than others, people would mind their business, and friendships seemed like they’d last forever. It's not "just nostalgia". The world was genuinely a better place in the 90s. My wife and I grew up in southern California. We both have better careers than our parents had, and we grew up in the suburbs. We are struggling to buy a house and raise a family together. We can't afford to like our parents did in the 90s. Kids played with each other. Even with video games. We sat next to each other and laughed together. We had pizza. Now kids just turn on the screen by themselves. Also, even now, I watch old ads for fun. Ads weren't so predatory as they are now. They listen to you and play the same annoying ads and spam it on your phone. Music wasn't so satanic as it is now. It's so insane that this is just "art". Pshh give me a break. I can go on and on about why the 90s is so important. Next time someone asks you "why are you so nostalgic for the 90s?" Just remind them what we had then and what we have now. What we had lost that was perfect.
As a 42-year-old who was a child in the 1980s and early 1990s, I will say I much prefer the 1980s over the 1990s in just about every way with the exception of the video games. Marketing in 80s focused on family wholesomeness whereas the 90s were "play it loud" gross and in your face. Plus, toys in the 80s were so iconic, but copied in the 90s without the same success. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Try Biker Mice from Mars, or Street Sharks instead. I have nostalgia for the NES, but the majority of the library is filled with broken games due to poor design. The 16 bit era perfected gaming, in my opinion. Anyways, good video, nonetheless.
I'm in my 40's too, and the late 80's were incredible, as were the very early 90's since the tail end of that 80's magic oozed into 1990 & 91. Pop culture went to poop in the 2000's, but there was already a substantial decline in 1996 imo. I can appreciate the late 90's now that I've lived through the 2000's up until now, but the late 90's paled in comaprison to the late 80's & early 90's for numerous reasons. When people say 'the 90's' as if it were all the same, are incorrect. the early 90's vs the late 90's felt like we were living on a completely different planet in terms of fashion, music, and so much more. I wish i could go back pre-internet. The internet, Social media & Smart phones have ruined the world. But one of the wonderful things about TH-cam is that you can find any 80's/90's commercial, music video etc which is amazing, and uh, the Nintendo Switch has a lot of great games. :P That's where the pro's end imo. lol Nintendo is the only company left with a quarter of their soul left in tact. :P

I wish I could step outside my door and it's the late 80's/early 90's all over again. What an incredible time to be alive. We didn't realize that 'that' was as good as it was going to get.

Totally agree. The fact of just thinking about that decade puts a smile on my face, and it’s interesting also that the previous decade was also amazing, but the 90’s was exactly in the middle between the era of happiness and the era of “zombieness” that we live in this days.
