ABOUT US //
We are Stitched Up, a non-profit Community Benefit Society established in 2012 to inspire action on sustainable fashion.
Manchester (UK) is our home, where we host a sustainable clothing hub - a place for people to discover a more sustainable way of dressing.
When we talk about sustainable clothing, we mean keeping your existing clothes in use for longer - the best way to reduce the impacts of your clothing. From repairing damaged clothes, to altering or reworking them when they are no longer serving you in their current form. And even using up the tiniest scraps.
There are three main elements to our work:
REUSE // We take donations of surplus textiles from companies and individuals, to divert them from landfill and make them available for creative reuse. You can shop our textiles online here: stitchedup.coo... also run monthly clothes swaps (currently on pause due to Covid) to keep clothes in use for longer.
SKILL UP // We teach sewing, clothes making, mending and upcycling skills to people of all ages and abilities. We have a programme of workshops open to the public and also travel to organisations across Greater Manchester who work with young people and vulnerable adults.Upcoming classes: stitchedup.coo...
EDUCATE // The fast fashion industry takes a huge toll on people and planet. We run educational events to raise awareness of these issues and support campaigns like Fashion Revolution and Labour Behind the Label.
