Thank you it came out very nice, I love to wear wrap skirts I several, I am going to work a demon skirt next ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ah that's great to hear! Good luck with your next project :)
Lot of work! But, great job!
Dank je wel dat je dit laat zien. Hoe gemakkelijk is het om nieuwe te kopen en de sokken weg te gooien als er een gaatje in zit. Ik hoop dat meer mensen dit gaan bekijken en de waarde er van in zullen zien.
Ah, thank you! We hope so too... Happy darning!
I would have used extra fabric and inserted in the center of the back after straightening each side. It finished really short in length.
It's best to measure an item from your own wardrobe so you know it'll fit - that's what we did here. Glad you found a way to make it work for you!
Thx so much I had to something similar it really helped 😊
Back in the early 80s my Mum did piece work at home. We had an industrial Singer machine (I still have it and use it) and a Brother machine. Mum would have a delivery of black bin bags, full of cut cloth and one garment. From that one garment she had to work out the 'jigsaw puzzle' of where each bit of cloth went, and how to put the garment together, there was no instruction, she had to just work it out herself, often unpicking it if she got it wrong. Once she had it worked out she would stack all the bits of cloth in sewing order, sometimes one garment at a time, sometimes one section of each garment, dependng on how complex it was. I used to help her sort it all out in order. It was only after all that was done before she could start sewing and finishing the garments, and of course, only what was finished was paid for. After school I would help, sometimes, on the sewing machine while Mum was making dinner, or doing the washing up afterwards. I could do it because I was designing and making some of my own clothes in the late 70s using Mum's 1935 hand cranked Singer. That is still on the table behind me as I type this, though I haven't used it for a few years.
Aw how amazing! Thanks for sharing this story with us - I'm sure there are so many people who were kids in the 60s,70s, 80s who can relate to this, helping out with piecework at home.
Brilliant, and fascinating! Looking forward the rest of the series.
Hiya I'm working at ITN Productions and I'd like to speak to you about possibly using this film in a programme about the cost of living crisis.
Hi, I watch Stephs packed lunch, and you have experts on the cost of living. I am a carer for my father. He has been bed bound for 5 years, has vascular dementia, and alzhimers, and is also doubly incontinet. This means lots of washing, and drying. I get carers allowance and income support, my total income is just over £111.00 per week. My dad gets his pension, and state pension, but with the cost of living going up, how are carers like me who have had to give up work 15 years ago, to look after my mum, who I cared for until she died, and am now looking after my father. Because I get income support along with the carers allowance, there seems to be no other support for peiople like me, We save the government thousand of pounds each week, for looking after our parents at home instead of putting them in care homes. Carers need help. Can this be brought up on your show please?
Very inspiring! Here in Belgium, several repair-cafe's have also been started and we are now trying to link this with a sharing depot. Hopefully this will also be a success. Thanks in advance for the tips & tricks in your video!
I’m just asking can you make me one please Reusable face-mask Design please if you can and can you send one for me please send me one please I’m not good at designing mask you can do it for me please if I send you the picture you can do it please and then you can send me one
I love your tutorial. Not ya standard work, so well done !
Ah, thanks! We love to think of ways to use damaged clothes that are going to get chucked otherwise.
+1!
Very helpful, thanks!
Great video explaining the ins and outs of the community repair model and more specifically the repair cafe model. Shared to Facebook @mendaussie and on our TH-cam channel playlist 'Repair Groups'. Thank you for sharing!
No problem - glad it was useful :)
You will have to have a craft stall to sell your goods.
Handy! How often do you need to clean it like this?
It depends how much you use it really, and how much of a linty (have we just made that word up? Maybe!) fabric you're working with. If your machine is in heavy daily use with lots of lint building up then a good clean every week would be great. Less if you use it less. Basic rule: if it looks fluffy inside - clean it! :)
@@stitchedupcoop Every week! I do it once a year. Need tomake a note in my agenda! Tx.
@@kitty.kilian Only if you use it a lot! Most people can get away with once every month or three :D
Very helpful info!
Thanks Zoë! :)
Thanks for this. Really helps with the written pattern. When I sew this the nose and xhin darts feel really pointy and when I open my mouth my nose and chin get stuck in the corners of the darts. Not sure what I'm doing wrong?
Hi Robert, glad you've found it helpful. You could try sewing the darts with a curved line rather than a straight one, which would give you a less pointy shape. :)
This is a great addition to the write up on the PDF, perfect for anyone who needs the additional how to.
Thanks Claudia!
