@@JasonSayersDrums thank you! Stoked you’re part of the URM world. Such a wealth of knowledge to tap into. Take a butchers at Oxford drum gate. That’s the key in this instance
The anonymity of their band has lore if you look into it. But its also because they want the attention on the music rather than the members. Incredible music collective.
You should react to their actual songs. This is just a drum playthrough from their drummer who has recently released 2 playthroughs so far. Some recommended songs to listen to are Higher, Jaws, The Offering and High Water. The singer is insanely good.
@@JasonSayersDrums Live performances with good quality? No. All live performances are recorded by those in the crowd so audio is a bit meh. The best one I could find was in Shepherd's Bush Empire. Just search for that with the date 20/11/21. It's 1 hour long.
I know some drummers from extreme metal backgrounds who play other genres, and one thing that they bring over is *insane* hand-speed on the snare fills plus the kick work. So not surprised at all! This guy is a savage.
If you really want to know who the band members really are I can tell you, you're just one Google search away from knowing who they are. Though, at least in Sleep Token's words, they're identity is irrelevant, they want people to appreciate their music for what it is, without the celebrity kind of BS.... But I do agree that their talent deserve credit. Anyway, Sleep Token is a 4 member Progressive Rock/Metal band that also fuses elements of Ambient, Rap, Jazz and other styles from London, England formed in 2016. Their members are known as Vessel (I) who is the band leader and singer, II who is the drummer, III and IV. Just like Slipknot at some point their identities will get blown but people would still appreciate the philosophy behind Sleep Token. It is said that the band's name comes from a vision that the lead singer Vessel had in his dream of the ancient God known as Sleep. And both Vessel and II see themselves as vessels to follow what Sleep tells them to do and convey Sleep's message through their music. After doing a quick search on their real identities I must say they are absolutely on point. Even the drummer, has other videos on TH-cam under his real name and you can see him play the drums using exactly the same drum kit as the one in this video, using exactly the same hand movement and style as the guy in the mask in this video and the tattoos also match. So it is definitely them. I'm not going to spoil it for you as I respect if you choose to keep the element of mystery, but as I said if you really really really want to know then you know what to do. At the end of the day I can most certainly appreciate them for their music even if I know who they are, that's what I care about always, whether it's an anonymous band or if they are well known and famous. Though Sleep Token has gained a heck of a lot of popularity and momentum in TH-cam subscribers and Spotify monthly listeners. Their growth lately is absolutely incredible and massive. With that being said Hypnosis is one of my favourite songs from them. And you should also check out the visualiser version that has Vessel's vocals in it too.
they prefer being anonymous though to let people focus on the art. that's the whole point. the singer said he feels able to use the anonymity to show vulnerability in the music that he wouldn't feel like he would be able to otherwise. no need to comment about their identities if you're a supporter or you're going against what they play for. if people want to find out and not appreciate the art as intended, they'll search on their own.
I hope you listened to Sleep Token. II or 2 is a drum God. Check out some live, there's a drum view of The Summoning live that's excellent. I do miss Vessel's voice though.
I'm looking forward to your Countdown of Top 10 drum kits from videos that you have reacted to. I'm sure this one will be on it along with Meytal Cohen's from her cover of 46 & 2, along with Neil's kit from the Frankfurt solo
I think that I have seen some of your starset review before, but sleep token brought me back to the channel. So they have released drum version called Like that.
When the snare sounds so good, you’d swear it’s not real, haha. I think it’s a credit to II and the engineers/producers when seasoned, knowledgeable drummers question its authenticity. I don’t believe the recording was snapped-to-grid either. I’m far from an expert on drum playthrough production, but it seems reasonable that if you’d take the time to sample-replace the snare, you’d also grid the recording, but my completely uneducated guess very well could be wrong.
I suppose we live in a world where everything has a sample it nowadays. Weather it be used as an enhancer or a full on sound replacment, The snare just sounded too consistant for me like it has a one shot sample under it to help it cut. Even Nolly from Periphery uses this technique and he is renowned for his drum mixes.
I know who they all are but I won’t share out of respect for the band and fans. Please don’t share if you find out as they’re anon for a reason. They want the focus to go on the music not who they are or what they look like 🖤
Absolutely. I found out and now I kinda wish I never had. It’s nice because now there’s all this other stuff I can listen to, but it definitely ruined the mysteriousness and part of the magic.
@@alexburchell1891 I actually found out that my daughters friend is good mates with a girl from Vessels past, they went to the same school. You saying you got Gospel vibes after his recent drumeo interview is testament to how much you know your stuff. Love this
hello - I'm the producer. Snare real xx
Amazing work man! I’m still learning with audio production through nail the mix and that snare is one of the best I’ve heard since Periphery!

@@BorisJohnsonMayorbest live performance I’ve found is at the tabernacle, great sound
Their 'from the room below' show recorded but metal kitty I believe is a great one.
Snare is real, confirmed by their sound guy.
Also, would you believe the drummer actually has a deathcore background
The way he holds his sticks would be extremely hard to play deathcore
